First, the good:
The company was responsive in scheduling and confirming the appointment. Day of, the guys were running a little late from another job, but did a good job of letting us know.
The two guys (can't remember names) were friendly and worked hard.
They seemed truly interested in doing a good job, even completing the work an hour earlier than what was scheduled and telling me I could get a refund for the unused hour (which I did).
Sadly:
They did not do a good job.
I provided them 15 moving blankets and plastic wrap, and told them that while we had packed everything, I had left the wrapping of our furniture - including several pieces of handcrafted furniture I built, which I pointed out - to them, as they are the experts. Previous movers have done this remarkably - turning the couch or coffee table into a protected burrito in no time.
These guys took the blankets out to the truck and then wrapped nothing. They assured me they were wrapping things, but since I couldn't see them doing it, I got nervous and just started quickly wrapping and protecting all my homemade furniture myself. Thank god I did. The two pieces they put in without wrapping both had big scratches and chunks ripped off the sides. The stuff I wrapped survived unscathed.
Similarly, they didn't protect the couch or our leather club chair and both got permanent marks from stuff tossed on top of them.
Finally, when the movers on the other end of our move went to unpack the trailer, they said "So, you guys packed yourselves?" I said, no we hired people. "Well, they put everything heavy on top of everything light." Multiple boxes were crushed. Dish boxes - clearly labeled - were on the very bottom - several dishes and appliances were broken.
I get that things move and shift, but this was not that - it was just bad and careless packing. Again, I don't think these guys were malicious or lazy - I think they're just not very good at their job.

The two movers assigned to our job were late. Upon arrival, they said there was "car trouble." Giving the benefit of the doubt here that there actually was car trouble, they didn't consider using their cell phone to call ahead and let us know they would be late.
I was expecting some professional movers to come, but it was just two guys to provide some muscle. They surprisingly didn't have a 2-wheel dolley, luckily I had one. I would have thought this is a key piece of moving equipment.
Once the movers arrived, they did work hard, and got my truck loaded in the time we allotted.
Upon unloading the u-haul at the destination, I was horrified at how several of the boxes ended up getting stacked. A few examples: 1) Literally the heaviest box I had was placed on top, crushing the box below it. I can't even imaging why this would not have been on the bottom. 2) Boxes clearly labeled on all sides as Fragile were placed on the bottom and the boxes were clearly damaged. 3) Other boxed packed and labeled with UP Arrows on all sides were stacked on their sided. I was rather surprised that these very standard loading principles were violated, since we hired a professional moving company to help. Our short term rental is furnished, so we haven't unboxed these items, but I'll be amazed if something isn't broken. This was clearly an "unload" crew rather than for loading.
Would I use them again? Maybe.....I would need to have a conversation beforehand on expectations. But then again, if two guys show up and don't meet expectations, you are kind of screwed since it's not like you can just call up another company to come immediately if your move is planned for a specific time.
