Get to Know Lauren Vork

I'm a Jill-of-All-Trades. I can cook, clean, sew, garden, paint, sand, stain, varnish, help with building, and take care of children. I have experience in office administration, reception, and customer service, labor and building, performing arts (all things, both onstage and backstage), writing, even basic web and graphic design. I'm a college grad as of May '07. My degree is in music and I'm a freelance performer, writer, and artist. I'm a classical and jazz trombonist, I sing, act, conduct, and play a little piano and auxiliary percussion. I've also worked almost every aspect of performing arts related work - I've been a seamstress, stage manager, designer and builder of specialty props (my work's been complimented by the propsmistress of the Guthrie theater), scenery building assistant, music librarian, ticket processor and program designer. I spent a year as an Americorps worker for a non-profit organization as an office worker. I'm a cheerful receptionist, I'm experienced in customer service and phone work, I type 60 WPM, and am proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook Express, and Power Point. I'm great with childcare. I've been a babysitter for family friends and teachers since I was in middle school. I've also assisted my aunt at her daycare during especially busy weeks. I love kids.
