This was really more manual labor than any job that would require skill or spacial realtions skills that would be needed in packing and moving a homeful of contents.
For what I asked them to do they were very friendly, helpful and cooperative.

I'm really not understanding your review and rating? You hired us to move several pieces of industrial equipment. Even though we didn't charge you an "oversize/overweight" fee per item which we had every right to do, we brought special, heavy duty moving equipment and moved the pieces onto the truck as you instructed with no problems whatsoever! We didn't perfom simple "manual labor" we professionally relocated very heavy and very difficult high value machinery out of a building and into a truck

They took amazing care with all of my belongings, wrapping and handling them with care - above and beyond anything that I have ever experienced. They worked tirelessly as I had a great deal more …read morefurniture and accessories than I had estimated so it took some careful planning on their part to fill two PODs to capacity while making sure everything in the PODs were well protected. I will need to hire movers again when my PODs are delivered to my new residence and I wouldn't think of hiring anyone but Five Stare Moving. They packed the truck fine and moved everything we requested. For the minimum amount of objects in our move (beds, dressers and couches only) I would have expected them to take less than 3 hours. To begin with, you're lying about the dryer! It was NEVER "flung onto it's side." THAT DID NOT HAPPEN! From the beginning you were never ready for the move. From your ever changing move date, to the fact you were still not ready the day of the move was not our fault. We sent you a great crew that you in turn had an attitude with the whole move, going so far as to not look them in their eyes the entire time. Your husband was VERY happy with their professionalism and tipped them $80. Your welcome.

If I had any bone to pick with them (and it's a small one), it was that they were almost too conscientious. Our furniture is mostly cheap stuff you put together with an allen wrench. I told them I wasn't too worried about protecting things with a…read more bunch of blankets...as long as the load was balanced and stable. But because of the insurance, they are required to pack it like you bought it at Black Bamboo or some other fancy pants furniture place, which slowed the process down a bit. But given a choice between too good of a job, and a bad job, I'll take the detail oriented people any day of the week.

The crew sent to load my truck was pretty inexperienced. They got the items loaded in the expected time; however, they were clueless about tying down a load. They did very little tying down until I questioned how boxes and furniture that was occupying less than a full truck were not going to shift in a 1,300 mile trip. They res…read moreponded by suggesting that the heavy book boxes shoved up against furniture was tightly enough packed to not shift. A simple moving of the truck around the block to the rear of the property to load more items disproved that, with two broken garden flower pots! Not only did the crew not seem to know how to tie down a load, they were rather careless with padding the furniture. When I noticed 2 wood book cases sitting next to each other uncovered, I was asked, "do you want pads on them?!" The fact was that after the crew left, I spent 2 hours climbing over the load to tie it down and properly pad it. At one point they dropped a cast aluminum patio chair off the truck, marring its surface. Bottom line, I would not hire them again.

Our experienced crews loads 100's of trucks a year! As all professional movers know, the load tends to slightly gravitate towards the front of the truck every time you apply the brakes. We load accordingly & strap at the end of the shipment. EXACTLY how all major, national moving companies do! Knowing the bases of the flower pots were already crumbling, you said load them anyway without being boxed up like we suggested! Because of a lack of moving pads, the crew used what was provided sparingly.

I hired Five Star in November, 2011 to unload my moving truck after a 460 mile drive to Lee's Summit, MO. They showed up right on time and unloaded the truck in about 3 hours. They put the boxes, furniture, etc exactly where directed, including moving a china hutch and formal dining set to the basement. I used this company for my local move in Sept. 2011. I had a one bedroom basement apt in O.P., with basically just bedroom furniture and about 35 boxes that needed to be moved to a 2 story home in KCMO. The two movers that were sent to my home did arrrive a little late but I was ok with that because I was still tying up some l…read moreoose ends with my packing etc. They were prepared for the job and they were mannerable and friendly but they moved a little too slow for my liking. THerefore, me and my 2 friends started to help them with the moving when we saw my 2 hr moving period that I paid for was getting close to being up and they hadn't even moved everything out the truck nor put my bed together yet! As they were moving the movers and I noticed a scratch on my dresser and then I noticed other scratches and dents on my other furniture so I notified the movers of that being a problem. They were not huge but very noticeable so the movers assured me that if I fill out a damage report someone from their office would contact me that day to set up an appt. to get the damaged fixed. I payed them the overage charge (because the move ended up being more than the 2 hours I had already paid for) and the movers went on their merry way. I then waited for a phone call I was told to expect and I never received one from the office/company regarding the damage and repair to my furniture. I ended up calling them myself about 2 days later where I was spoken to rudely and basically accused of lying about the damage being caused by the movers, like it was previously there & I had done it myself. I was instructed to call the owner Dan Myer and given his phone #. I called him and left multiple messages during the few weeks following my move and I never received a call back and I never got the damages repaired to my furniture.
I was and am still a bit dissapointed about the whole situation and how it was handled by the company and I personally would not use them again after all that and I wouldn't recommend them to any of my friends nor family.

We recommended you rent instead, a $10 more 14' U-Haul versus the much smaller & almost half the cubic footage 10' truck. We also highly recommended you rent moving pads too. You refused both recommendations! Both places had flights of stairs. That, and trying to fit everything into a too small of a truck eats up a lot of time! Our crew called well in advance to let you know their ETA. You told them you weren't ready anyway! Insurance denied your claim because you refused to provide moving pads!

These guys showed up on time and were very efficient and worked hard. They had to move a huge piano up a flight of stairs and so they called in some extra men (no extra charge) to help. They had all the necessary equipment: special dollies, straps, specialty stuff for the piano, furniture pads. And they packed the truck really r…read moreeally well. Basically, they're very good at their job. Definitely recommend using them.

The two movers showed up early, and moved everything in quickly and carefully. They put my bedframe together in record time and took the time to ask where I wanted certain things. They were really nice, and even moved my Uhaul to where I wanted it. I highly recommend them and will be hiring them again for my next move.
