Now, to be fair, I did end up calling them myself and got them to confirm the job. The owner of his company and his brother did show up. And they did work hard. Both the owner and his brother did a good job of packing the moving truck. And, I tipped them generously for their work. The real problems started at the end of this move. The owner heard me discussing that I wanted to hire a cleaning crew to clean my apartment, and he said that his firm also offered a cleaning service which was available to me. Since he and his brother worked hard, I made the booking with them. Unfortunately, the person they dispatched to clean my apartment was a complete disappointment, as was the way the owner handled the situation after the fact. The cleaning person was late for the appointment. She did not come equipped with all the supplies she needed to clean an apartment. She was slow. She did not pay attention to detail. She didn't know how to do her job. For example, she did not thoroughly wipe down the kitchen counters. (I went back over them and found them still dirty.) She did not move small items to vacuum underneath them. Instead, she merely vaccuumed around the objects. I had to re-vacuum everything. She didn't know how to clean a bathtub. She thought cleaning the bathtub simply meant spraying it with Tilex. I had to teach her how to scrub it with an abrasive agent. I could go on and on. Bottom line: hiring her was a complete waste of time and money. Very early on to her arrival, I realized the cleaning person wasn't up to the task. I told Moonlight Movers about my concerns. While they defended her abilities, which were in scant supply, they expressed to me that they wanted me satisfied and also called her to talk to her while I was out of the apartment. I had hoped that this might motivate her to actually do a thorough job, but this was not the case. Long story short, after three useless hours of her on the job, I just wanted her out of my house and gone. So I called up Moonlight Movers to tell them I wanted to pay her for the three hours of time she spent at my house and have her leave (more than generous, I thought, considering her ineptitude). The terms of the deal was that I would pay an hourly rate for the cleaning, plus a $20 travel fee for the cleaner. I told Moonlight Movers at the time of cashing out, that I wanted them to charge my card for the three hours the woman worked. I gave my credit card over the phone, gave the cleaner $20 cash for travel, and sent her on her way. Later that night, I received my receipt for the credit card transaction, and discovered that, unbeknownst to me, Moonlight Movers charged me an extra $20 for the travel. I alerted them right away that I had given the cleaner cash for the travel charge and asked them to refund my card $20. Here is where the real problems started. They actually refused. They did admit they knew I gave the cleaner $20 cash, but still refused to give me my money back. The owner of the company tried to get me to agree to forfeit the $20 on the grounds that the cleaning woman received a parking ticket, and that my overpayment should offset the cost of her ticket. I informed Moonlight Movers that the signs on my street clearly stated that parking there was for two hours -- AND I told the cleaner she would have to move her car to another spot (which were abundant) after the two hours were over. She did not heed my warning and got a ticket -- entirely her fault. Moonlight Movers eventually conceded the ticket was her fault, but still refused to refund my $20. And the owner of the company repeatedly texted me throughout the day over this issue, forcing me to ask him to respectfully stop. The end result is that I had to take this issue up with my credit card company, and the issue is still being resolved. Given this chain of events, I would not use this company again, and I would not recommend them to others. There are plenty of other good moving companies out there who will bill fairly and offer good customer service, so one does not need to put up with the lack of service provided by Moonlight Movers. I want to add the following information due to Moonlight Movers response to my original post: The terms of the cleaning service were negotiated and set directly with Moonlight Movers. The set her rate, her travel expenses and everything else. The cleaner had no role in these negotiations. Also, I never asked for a "cheap" cleaner. This is completely false. I simply wanted a good cleaner. And as stated above, since the move went well, I had hoped to have a similar experience with Moonlight's cleaning service. Moonlight offered their services to me after overhearing a conversation I was having with my family member on the day of my move. I since have learned from my neighbors who use cleaners in their homes that Moonlight's rate for cleaning is actually quite high. While I am glad Moonlight did recognize that I tipped the generously for the move (the total tip exceeded the cost of the job), I am further disappointed by them trying to categorize me as a "disgruntled" customer. If they had rectified the billing error in an appropriate manner, I would have been content to let the cleaning debacle drop. But given their poor handling of the situation, their attempt to blame the cleaner and wash their hands of her and her work, and now this misleading and inaccurate response from them, I would simply say: let the buyer beware.
