I had two movers for two hours, and initially was very happy. They showed up on time, communicated well, were professional, courteous and speedy. They even made sure to end the job at the 2 hour mark so I wouldn't get charged extra, and still finished another 10 minutes of work after the fact. I tipped them well. Then I went out to check on my UHaul boxes. There was wood furniture stacked on top of wood furniture. I had a leaking AC unit sitting on top of my dresser. There were stacks of furniture blankets from uhaul that came with the boxes, untouched. I was flabbergasted that they had all these blankets and didn't bother to open up a single package to protect my furniture. That seems like common sense to me, not something that should have to be specifically requested. I spent another 2 hours after they left, undoing the disaster that they had packed, and repacking so my furniture was protected for the cross country move. Had I not, I would have had an excessive amount of damages. I would have rather paid for an extra hour than risked ruining all my furniture.

The only reason they didn't get 5 stars is because there is always room for improvement, I'll get to that later. First the great stuff; they showed up on time, worked hard, were very respectful and polite and I would use them again. The only suggestion I might make is perhaps to show up with a bigger dolly. In part it was my fault, I estimated the heaviest piece of furniture as 100 pounds, thus they brought a smaller dolly. It was very lightweight and not very hearty. It wasn't a problem because the guys were strong enough to compensate, but my suggestion is to estimate high when asked the weight of the heaviest thing to be moved. Otherwise they went up and down our basement stairs about 30 times in max heat with no complaints. I would recommend them and use them again.

My sister passed away, and we needed help to empty her duplex. Horton's Moving did a terrific job of that. On time, very polite. Worked very hard until the job was done. Just did an amazing job, and I would certainly hire them again.

Not enough good things to say about Horton's and the team I interacted with in particular. Kennedy, Nate and Zach were extremely professional, well organized, and willing to be flexible and go the extra mile. My situation was tricky to say the least: I work for a moving company and was driving cross-country (DC to Portland) with a client's belongings, arriving in Portland early afternoon on a Sunday and flying back that night so everything had to be spot-on. Complicating matters further was the fact that my client was in Santorini on vacation and expected to fly in to Portland to find their apartment set up and ready to live in. The call was last minute with Horton's stepping in after the first company bowed out so I was already at my wit's end. Kennedy called immediately to verify the particulars and put me at ease. Nate and Zach were on time which was critical since I was flying out that same evening after the unload. Working on a Sunday afternoon when it's 101 degrees in the shade is worth 5 stars alone but these guys were absolute rock stars. We unloaded a full 24 foot truck, unwrapped and assembled furniture in just under 2 hours. You will not find better movers in Portland for sure, and this is coming from someone who's done professional moving for the better part of a decade. Choose Horton's for your move, I certainly will next time I'm in Portland. They are exactly as advertised... professional, courteous, prompt, prepared and proficient. Nate and his crew did a masterful, and quick, job of unloading a truck and moving contents to a new storage unit. They were extremely kind and courteous. Extremely efficient. I would recommend them to anyone needing small or large moving labor help needs.
