Q's Moving Corp called me the morning of the move to let me know there was heavy traffic, but the workers did arrive within the time window that Q's had originally given me.
The workers introduced themselves, I provided an explanation of the job they were hired to do, where things needed to go and they listened attentively. A…read morell the workers were very polite, respectful to me and respectful of my belongings and home. They came with the needed equipment in order to safely and quickly do the job. The few times I change my mind and needed to have them move a piece of furniture from where I originally asked them to place to somewhere else, they were very patient and polite - thank you for that :)

I am unsure why I was booked with a moving company from Long Island when I live in CT and was moving farther into CT. I had to pay more $ for their travel time. They were also scheduled to arive between 8am and 9am but did not get to my place until 11am! The movers were very friendly but the experience was poor.

Just dont understand this review , On major expressways there are weigh stations , and when they are open every truck must stop for inspection , it just so happens that customers lives on the same exit of a station that was opened ,once my driver observed that there where 40 trucks on line we informed customer. Conversation is documented and registered into are log As per are 2nd issue the pick up address and the destination where 1 hour apart its unheard of not to charge for travel Thank you -

Mikey and Neil showed up within the hour time frame they provided us, and after we showed them what we needed, they were very quick to load everything. I will never ever ever use this company again. The movers were 45 minutes late and the owner (John Kiousenterlis) had no idea where they were. When they did show up, the movers blamed John on the late time saying they were told to be at my apartment at 10 am.
The two movers (Neal and Mikey) played around, did not wrap everyth…read moreing as requested (because they didn't bring enough shrink wrap), and frequently could not be found. They also said the elevator was not working properly but didn't bother telling anyone. The elevator worked fine whenever my husband or myself were with them! They became angry when I told them they had 30 minutes to complete the work, however they took an additional 2 hours. I had a one bedroom, 780 sq ft apartment and it took 4 hours for them to load a rental truck.

Since my full name was used if anyone wants to know the real truth about Jan Novia please call my office at 718-445-1555 . We have proof with signed paperwork,pictures and documented phone calls that Jan Novia is not telling the truth in all aspect of this move.First of all she had no blankets to cover furniture which i advised her, we showed up at 9:30am as confirmed and to sum it all up the entire job took 3 hours not 4 hours as she is stating. There was initially a mix up with our address that caused the men to be a little late. The movers called us and we straightened it out and they arrived promptly after that.
They brought a few blankets and a dolly with them. The men were diligent and hard working. They kept working continuously for the full time. They were careful about tracking dirt on the carpets and extremely careful about not scratching the furniture or walls. Also, calling up to release payment was difficult. I got dragged into voice-mail hell. I needed to add extra hours, again difficult to get a human to answer the call.
So I understand that these sites act as booking agents and serve a useful purpose. I just want to say I was easily satisfied with the guys doing the work. Not so good with the middle man.

This is a 2 part review:
I had a couple difficulties with the dispatcher.
The first was related to using a POD to move. I told him that my POD would arrive at 8am, and he claimed that they are always late so he wouldn't send anyone until 8:30am. Well lo and behold, the POD arrived promptly at 8am, and sat there empty for …read more30-45 minutes. This resulted in me having to pay for an extra hour for the POD driver.
Second, both the website and dispatcher claimed that the movers would show up with rope and packing wrap.
They didn't have either and said that the dispatcher did not tell them to bring it. This is despite the claim online that it was provided and my verbal confirmation with the dispatcher. Again, this required extra time and expense for me to go purchase these items.
However, I did want to say that movers were excellent. They were enjoyable to work with and also did an incredible job of packing up the POD.

I apologize deeply for the confusion with the dispatcher , but the job was booked for new years eve in Manhattan and there was a window between 8am-9am we showed up at 8:30 with dollies and shrinkwrap at no extra charge. We never supply logistical straps for pods unless customer wants to purchase. We advised him to add a man due to the 3 flight walk up, but he declined. If we were advised during the move of the issue, we would have taken care of it ASAP . Thank You and have a happy new year.

The did the job perfectly, just as I asked.
A word of warning, as they did show up an hour late, although it was due to traffic. They left two hours before my scheduled start time and couldn't get from Queens to the Upper West Side as quick as they thought... pretty understandable to me.
Once they arrived, however, they we…read morere ready to work. They packed up my 2 bedroom apartment exactly as I asked, and were extremely polite throughout the process.
With 2 hours, it took 4 hours to pack the place up and move to my new apartment 1 mile away.
***HireAHelper suggested that I would only need 2 hours when I described the job, however even with the 2 movers and myself working the whole time it took 4... just be aware that the estimates may not be wholly reliable***
Wrinkles aside, the move went very smoothly and I would definitely use Q's again.

1. Hire-a-Helper charged me $390 for 2 men for 3 hours. In addition, I paid the company they hired for me an additional $1152 for the remaining 7 hours for 3 men (from Q's Moving). WHAT A RIP OFF! I GOT CHARGED BY BOTH HIRE A HELPER AND Q'S MOVING FOR ONE OF THE HOURS.
This was dealt with when the company credited my car…read mored $342 after my complaint. They just can't do basic math?
2. The moving men from Q's Moving BROKE my Entertainment Unit! The shelves were cracked down the corners on one side so they clearly did not wrap the shelves. Pieces of the unit were littered in the hallway after they left so they clearly did not carry the pieces carefully. The shelves crashed down on my television while I was putting on the XBox, Wii and Cable boxes - as was usual at my old home. I had to go out and buy a new unit. THANK GOODNESS my television, Wii and cable box still work. I have to check the XBox next.
They complained when I suggested the tip amount and guilted me into going to the ATM (one of them actually walked with me to the ATM!) to double the tips to $40 each.
I had a lot of stuff to move and the men did the job but I seriously have had better moving experiences in NYC and I've lived here all my life.
WHAT A RIP OFF! I am going to file a complaint and check on the insurance. If nothing happens then I have to go to the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint.

YOU BE THE JUDGE! customer requested 2 men3hrs because of the 5 flight walkup and the fact she had my men packing hanging pictures 3 men worked for 11.5 hrs. The next day she requested a credit for lunch time and a 80 ikea tv stand. I as always want to make all my customers happy so i gave her a generous credit for 342 , We all thought this matter was resolved but 20 days later she accused us of theft,supposedly we stole her jewelry and coins again via email she confirmed that they where found.

My Manhattan office building required all sorts of documentation w/regards to certificates of insurance and workman's comp, etc to use their freight elevators. The movers were cautious with my belongings, shrink-wrapping couches on the spot, and reinforced some of the heavier boxes. They had extra supplies, boxes, tape, etc on the truck. They worked speedily to make sure we a completed the job on time. I highly recommend both companies and plan to use them again.

They wrapped up and padded my bulky items (love seat, dresser, headboard, dinning table, etc) and loaded them together with a bunch of small boxes and other assorted items in a trailer I had rented for a cross-country move. They have worked hard, the dollies they brought proved to be quite helpful, and although a little bit discontent when they saw that the trailer was slightly far away from the apartment, they didnt bulge and did everything in the scheduled time. I helped a somewhat (because I am not the kind of person who sits back and watches others work) and they were nice and that. I would definitely use them again for any of my moving needs, either load or unload. I had not any experience in using their van services (because my move was not local), but I would assume that it should be great as well/

The WORST move of my life - and I have moved from CA to London to NY and have lived in NYC at 3 different locations for past 11yrs. The WORST move with Qs! I loaded the elevator 7 times by myself, carried things downstairs & still had to make 4 tr…read moreips with my car because they did not pack everything - despite the truck having room.
To start, they were 4 hours late because the 2 movers came from Long Island and they had car trouble. However, I was told by John the owner the reason they drove was because they needed to bring the dollies. Which they did NOT. During this 4hrs I was pleading with John to send me different movers because I needed to meet CT movers. He did not have any and his story did not match up with the mover guys story as far as whether or not they were on/over the 59th St. Bridge. Someone was lying. When they arrived, I only had 1.5hr window. Needless to say, we went over and again I had to move the CT movers.
One of the drivers parked in front of a fire hydrant - despite my father telling him he would get a ticket. Well he did. A $100+ ticket. He then basically quit on moving things. Hallway was packed but nothing was moving down elevator and into truck. I called the owner John and told him they were not bringing my things down elevator and into the truck. He kept saying "what do you want me to do?" - with no solutions.
Then one of the movers said "okay your 2hrs is up with John, want to pay us under the table - each $40 per hour?" Which would obv be $80 and Hire a Helper rate was $60. I called John and told him one of the movers tried to cut him out. Miraculously, John now cared. He sent 2 other guys over to help me.
Meanwhile I have a torn disc in my back and I loaded the elevator 7 times by myself. The movers were complaining to John that they had "to climb walls and were not aware of this" - which was an exaggeration because they had to lift my bedroom furniture over a short wall on my terrace to bring down the central stairs. Which is much easier than getting stuck in tiny stairwell in my apt!
The one mover who got the ticket spent more time on the phone complaining to whomever - then he did moving. I had to carry pieces of my bed over the terrace wall by myself!
Then John gave me grief and called and said "the movers are saying you keep pulling stuff out and asking them to pack the truck with it. This will cost you extra!". Total lie. I had a corner in my living room where if there was still room in the truck - we would pack those boxes in. I was NOT pulling things out from somewhere.
In the end, the other 2 movers finally showed up - but I had already brought down so much on my own. John fired the mover who tried to cut him out. Yet, as I drove away I saw that mover chatting with the others at the end of my street. John did credit me for 2 hours - but it was nothing, comparatively. I had to make 4 more runs with my car - including 1 at 3:10am and 1 at 6:30am because the new tenants were moving in at 9am! This was the worse move ever. Zero exaggeration.
The only good bit was one of the movers was good at packing a truck - but he had a chip on his shoulder and didn't want me to tell him how to wrap my expensive bedroom furniture. Oddly, he warmed up to me at the end when it came to tipping. And to think at the start of the move, I brought out homemade chocolate chip cookies for everyone.

some people no matter what you do are never happy yes we where late do to traffic on the bridge but i thought i resolved the situation by sending her extra men for this complicated move that the customer did not prepare us for. I wish you good luck in your future endeavors and please make a newyears resolution to be a bit more honest in the future thank you

I was very pleased with the service provided by Q's Moving. The team showed up about 1/2 hour late BUT they called me promptly at the appointed time and explained that they were caught in traffic and on their way. They called me to let me know they were leaving to come to my apt. and also to let me know their estimated time of arrival. They introduced themselves right off the bat and went right to work! Q's basically extorted me and my wife for our loading help. They showed up late, then took their time during the guaranteed 2 hours. Once that was up, they refused to honor the $90/hour rate that was in the HireAHelper agreement. They said the actual rate was higher and that they didn't work for HireAHelper. We ended up payi…read moreng them cash to avoid a hassle, since about half our heavier furniture items were still inside and we couldn't take them down ourselves. They also didn't use the many furniture pads we provided and our wood furniture was scratched as a result. We also had to unload and re-pack part of the truck because they just placed things wherever. We felt robbed.

I am sorry you feel this way but I have signed paperwork that states a 9am start -11am finish, which leads me to believe that 1-we were not late as you stated and 2- nowhere on the paperwork was there additional charges added or money taken as you stated. Here at Qs the customer is always right therefore when we found out about this situation 2 weeks after the move, we authorized a $100 credit to your account no questions asked. I pray you were honest, because the men were terminated.

The two men on the truck were very professional and knew their job. The one set back was that they were from Queens, NY and weren't familiar with New Jersey or Staten Island. This caused a delay of a few hours. I would use them again if u give them a GPS>.

Great experience with Q's. The guys arrived early and when I got my U-Haul trailer in an unmanageable jam they helped guide me to a parking spot, in Mid-town Manhattan! They took good care of our "stuff" and completed the move-in quickly. Much smoother experience than I anticipated. I will use then next time.

Could not have asked for more. Some of the highlights:
Movers were early, friendly and willing to do whatever it took to get the job done.
Q's sent 4 movers at no extra charge (I'd booked 2)
These guys were professional and worked hard, even on a 90+ degree day.

The one con was that some of my dishes were broken when I unpacked them, but I never liked those dishes anyway so it wasn't an issue.

Not on time, one mover not fit for moving things upstairs, the other inexperienced, slow, disrespectful. I could go on and on. This is a perfect example on the phrase "some people no matter what you do are never happy " lets start from the beginning the job was confirmed between 9am-10am, we have signed paperwork with a start time of 9:45. We showed up and she had over 175 boxes going up 5 flights of stairs. She never informed us on the magnitude of this move, never the less my men stayed and finished the job in 11 hours no questions asked. May I add if she was so unhappy, why would she tip them $100 each.
