The move was alright. The day we scheduled them was actually at the last minute so I was very fortunate to have them respond to the job. I received a call asking if the crew could come between 5 & 6 versus 7 & 8 pm. I agreed and they never showed! Over $200 was charged on my card by Hire a Helper to have the work done on 3/5. I called Intuit Moving LLC and was told something about his “account” and them not accepting the job because the movers couldn’t do it. A phone call would’ve been greatly appreciated from SOMEONE. I called Hire a Helper to obtain information on what to do next, they reviewed with me my agreement with these movers to come on 3/5 between 5-6 pm and the associate stated that someone was working on the issue and placed me on hold. He returned to the phone to inform me the person was gone for the day (HA!). So I had to go get a hotel room for my family to stay in because of the whole mess. Brandon seemed a bit attitude-ish when my dad was asking him questions (on my behalf) I’m pregnant and trying to not be too involved because my pregnancy is considered high risk. This has been the most stressful move for me. I woke up the next morning just mentally exhausted with a migraine.

As my bone to pick with “Hire a Helper” prior to the the unload, I had to have stuff moved out of my storage unit and loaded on my truck in the Hampton Roads area. I was stood up by the initial movers (not the same movers, above). So I tried booking through Hire a Helper that night around 10pm on 3/4. My boyfriend started moving stuff and about an hr before it was time for the crew to show up I was asked to call to cancel (I was aware of the 24hr cancellation policy). My boyfriend asked me to cancel because he was almost done (to my surprise). I called and spoke with the manager Tom who was extremely professional (it’s about time, lol)! He had Hire a Helper reach out to me to handle the financial aspect since they’re the 3rd party booking company. The man at Hire A Helper was SUPER rude and repeatedly asked if we needed him to read us the terms (spoke too soon). The associate said it was up to the moving company. I asked the guy to call Tom back and see if he could grant the 100% cancellation since I booked it literally hrs before the job and also since the moving company had just accepted the job at 0840 that morning and I also called that morning around 0900 to cancel (20 MINUTES difference, yall). The guy returned to the phone and said Tom said that I could pay the entire $192 and have them complete the almost completed job or pay $140 to cancel. I had him call back and then it was the same terms except now $70 to cancel. I called Tom back and this was not what he discussed with him AT ALL. Tom was trying to get them to just allow his crew come out and work for an hr and only require me to pay for an hr (which is very reasonable). I can’t believe the Hire A Helper straight up LIED to me!!! So at any rate I agreed to lose $70 in the middle of a pandemic. I lost my job due to COVID and this move is/was for my new job (starting at the end of the month) to make ends meet for me and my kids. But hey!!! At least they got their money, right? Screw everyone else. In the words of Mr. Crabs “SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST, SPONGEBOB SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST”!

Unfortunately my experience was one that nobody else should endure. First, the movers were late. They damaged walls and ceilings with furniture. They did not know how to pack a pod, leaving huge amounts of empty spaces between items. They did not fully use provided furniture pads to protect my furniture. They scratch and broke parts of bedroom furniture. They disrespected delicate pieces by placing them under heavier pieces. Last, they worked less than two hours stating they had run out of space. However, I still had to pay for 3 hours and had friends remove and then repack the entire pod because the movers has no idea how to pack for a move.
Customer service offered a $50 credit which was an insult. Save yourself some $$ and DO NOT USE!

Mover's response:
Rarely would disagree, but in this instance this is experience is everything short from the actual occurrence. In some instances customers may be underprepared to load a PODS container and often underestimate the quantity of things in their home. customer gave 4 small moving blankets to cover her furniture with, despite there were many glass items/electronics etc unprotected and uncovered, the crew repeatedly asked for blankets several times over to help protect all furniture. customer simply did not provide protection nor straps/ropes to help secure the load. her husband who completely agreed with the way POD was loaded as we would NOT stack on top of her Couch more than a few chairs with pillows and sheets/covers to protect. She also had roughly 30 additional large boxes that wouldn’t possibly fit inside with 2 large televisions that we advised we would not suggest packing inside the POD as she had Zero protection for her television as well. And then they agreed to have friends come and help with those things because she stated herself they felt as if it wouldn’t all fit but were very hopeful and already had friends that were coming anyway to help. customer absolutely needed more POD space and to have purchased actual moving supplies or reached out to us in order to coordinate properly as all forms prior to moving stated you must have atleast one moving blankets per furniture item so we would have those supplies and can work effectively as possible.

These guys helped us out for 2 jobs, one unloading a container and another helping move some large furniture locally. Arrived a little late for the first job but very efficient and careful helping us unload a container. Second job needed packing of a U-haul which they did a great job with and no damage with transport. These guys work hard and are very fast and take good care of your stuff.

We moved about 3 hours away, and had 2 different groups from Hire A Helper to load and unload. All of these young men were polite and excellent movers. They took great care of our belongings.
The only problem that I had was punctuality. The loaders were 30 mins late and the unloaders were 1 hour late. I did get a text message about the unloaders, but we were busy and I did not look at my phone much during this time.
