Please do not use this company. Having such great reviews, I immediately booked this company. I cannot even put into words how appalled I am with the way this owner conducts himself and runs a business. Maybe he was having a bad day. Maybe he was stressed. I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt, but his behavior and the way he spoke to me was absolutely unacceptable. We are military and have moved 4 times in the last 2 years. We have used many different companies and have even done some unloads and loads ourselves. I have never had such a bad experience. My husband and I (34 weeks pregnant) unloaded our 26ft box truck into a storage unit back in March. We did it in close to 3 hrs. I hired 2 guys for 4 hrs to move everything from the storage unit into the POD just to be safe. I even called Eric and went through inventory and he said that should be plenty of time, and it was more than enough time. The loaders were a little slow but they were polite and we tipped them when they were leaving. They told my dad that they had grabbed everything and the unit was completely empty. As they were leaving, my dad noticed a box spring that was forgotten. He immediately called me and I tried to reach the company. It went to voicemail a few times but I finally got ahold of someone and asked that the guys come back to finish. They had only used a little over two hours and I had paid for 4. The loader called me personally saying “oh sh*t I can’t believe we forgot the mattress. I just dropped off my partner at home.” I ask him to come back and he said to let him call the manager. The owner then calls me and immediately gets defensive. He never apologized and basically told me to buy a new box spring. I told him that I paid for a job and I expected it to be completed. He lied to me multiple times telling me his guys had other jobs. When I mentioned that I spoke to the loader and he told me he was going home, Eric went crazy. He started making excuses and got so nasty with me. I tried to come up with a compromise- either money back for the time that I paid for that did not get used or he could send his guys back to finish the job. He went off. It was nearly impossible to get a word in over his yelling. I left the conversation sobbing. I immediately called hireahelper.com and they were so kind and helpful. I explained the situation and they reached out to Eric. Eric magically came up with two guys to come back and finish the job. He assured me it would be impossible to fit the box spring because he supposedly saw a photo of the packed POD. He called me unreasonable and told me I was incapable of determining what would fit and not fit. Let me remind you, Eric was never at the site. I’m still not even sure he actually saw a picture. However, my dad had sent me pictures and assured me it would fit, and I could even tell from pictures it would fit just fine. Sure enough, the guys rearranged maybe 2 items and got the box spring in the POD in less than 10 minutes. What should have been a simple apology and remedy turned into a completed disaster and a day wasted. I cannot believe a business owner would behave in such a manner. I am appalled and still taken aback by how he treated and spoke to me. I was simply trying to get a job completed that I paid for so my 61 year old dad with a knee replacement did not have to try and figure it out himself, but Eric had no intentions of even trying to come up with a solution. Thankfully hireahelper.com stepped in and helped me solve the problem. Please do not use this company. If you have any issues at all, it will be a pain to get it fixed. I spent most of my day trying to sort everything out from out of state, over the phone. And I spent the rest of my day sobbing because of how he spoke to me. There were several other small issues with scheduling prior to the move but they were resolved by a nice manager named Chris and I still would have given them a 5 star review prior to today’s issues. This incident alone should give anyone plenty of reason not to book with them.

Hello Samantha,
I would like the first say there was not one time where I had ever got out of hand and talk to you the way you are describing. I will say there was tension in the conversation with you having expectations on fitting everything inside of the pod container was only a 16 footer. You described you unloaded a 26 foot truck into your storage that was full that you expected us to fit in a 16 foot container. Your father was on site the entire time and missed the boxspring as well That was leaning on the other side of the pod to where nobody could see. In order to fit the boxspring when we came back things had to come out and put into your dad‘s SUV that he already made a couple trips from the storage unit since the truck you unloaded in there was 10 feet bigger than the pod. Now Let me clarify exactly what I said about “ you can just buy another boxspring”. That is completely false and what I exactly said was if that’s the only thing left and you’re gonna pay for another Pod or have to get a trailer for just boxspring , that I would suggest selling it because it would be way cheaper and easier just to buy another one on the other side then going either one of those routes which would’ve cost you way over thousands to where you were going. After reading that part in the review where you’re not honest about your experience really saddens me, that half the time you were dishonest and overdramatizing things that had nothing to do with your move. I have many crews out there, including multiple businesses and being a real estate agent. So the other comment of the guys having on the job was said because it was a little bit after 2 o’clock and usually the guys work till 5. Many parts of this review shows what I had to deal with when on the phone with you to try help you resolve this issue. We gladly came back to fix the problem and it was the exact same two people. I want to assure everybody, that I have all the respect in the world and appreciate each and every customer that chooses us for their move and that we will always give five star services to each and every person every time.

I had two days. First day went great. Chris and Anthony worked very hard. Got things done until we ran out of room in the pod. I would recommend these two and company. Second day was ok. One of the two guys seemed like a newbie but, I guess, you have to start somewhere. I would definitely recommend this place.

These guys were wonderful. They communicated ahead of time their ETA, and immediately jumped into moving when they got to us. They figured out how to get a couch and dining room table (separately) into a tiny elevator and were great with unexpected circumstances. Very grateful that we had them helping us move.

Great communication from the company. Movers arrived 30 minutes outside of timeframe but called to let us know. Very polite and worked hard. Finished moving a 1 bedroom apartment in an hour even after having to wait for maintenance to help remove a door. Not particularly careful. Some damage to furniture pieces based on how they were carried. Items were not expensive but they didn’t acknowledge the damage. Had trouble getting the couch in and while waiting for assistance left it sitting on its end leading to it getting dirty. They were more careful with some items. Kept table wrapped in blanket and set it carefully. Wouldn’t necessarily use them again.

The guys definitely should’ve laid a blanket down like they have provided. As for the other pieces we only did the unload for you for this job. So if you seen pieces damaged it is hard really to blame our guys when you didn’t see the conditions of them when they came out of the Pod only when it made it to your apartment. We understand when you seen the couch situation it made you think our guys are going to be careless with all the furniture but that’s not accurate of how we do things. We are glad the rest of your move went well and we hope can help change your mind on using us again in the future

The men were respectful.We had 4 workers some were much better than the others.
They damaged the wood floors because they moved the refrigerator without putting padding underneath and trying to take the short cut getting out of house.
Scratched the finish of of a few pieces of furniture.

What can a customer expect after booking with you?

Our customers will get a call from one of our staff to confirm there details of their move and to introduce ourselves as the moving company that will be doing the move for them. We will make sure we help figure the absolute best route to help our customer be fully prepared move day to save them time and money on their move.

What can a customer expect on moving day if they hire you?

They can expect us to show up to there home or place that we are doing work at for them, to prove our 5 ?? services. The can feel confident that our company and the people that work for the company take great pride in the work they do. Our movers will be fully prepared and trained to all give 5 ?? services to them.

How should a customer prepare for moving day?

There’s many things that can be done to help the move go smooth, safe, efficient which will help the cost of the move significantly. Having as many things properly labeled and boxed up as possible, in similar size boxes to help reduced boxes being damaged. Having the closes and properly paved surface/path for a truck or container to back into safely to load or unload customers contains. The less steps we take to get to the truck or container will sure help cut the time down.

What's your favorite part about being a mover?

Our favorite part of doing our job as a mover is the satisfaction of getting out there in society and helping all different types of people with their moving needs. We take a ton of satisfaction in helping our customers move their furniture and items they can’t move or don’t want to move. The other plus is that it’s a gym membership that you get paid to do which is a huge plus to us ????????

What training do you provide your crew members?

We put our guys through a very detailed orientation training process to help them fully understand the way E&J Moving likes to do things. We have a training course that goes into safety for themselves with how properly lift items and different ways to move furniture properly. We also have safety courses that go through measures we have in place to protect our customers dwelling and belongings. We also have our guys trained in how to efficiently, quickly and safely get through each move safe and efficient.
