So 3 days later when we finally closed and had access we needed help getting everything we owned (and I mean EVERYTHING) into all the rooms it needed to go to. I had looked online for moving labor and had seen many reviews for NES both here and at another website - and the reviews were all wonderful and numerous. And their rates were great compared to other movers. So at 4PM on a Thursday I asked for 2 guys for 9:00 the next morning - and they accepted. That afternoon that I booked them I spoke with Nick on the phone regarding specifics of the belongings, the house etc., and he said they would be here 9:30-10:00 in the morning. They arrived promptly at 9:00 and not 9:30 and were ready to go. And we could not have asked for better help - they were incredible. They worked hard, they were very careful with every single item they touched, they planned the lugging of every large item before they even touched it (discussing turns, stairs, approach, etc.), and they were professional, polite and easy to communicate with. They worked great as a team and took great care of our stuff and were sure to ask our wishes for location, etc. for all of it. All of the rave reviews I had read were spot on and their time was just about the best investment we made for this move. All of the belongings of our family of 4 was just too much for us to take care of ourselves, and having them here to take it all from the garage to all of the rooms in our house was a lifesaver. In the end we had them here for a total of 4 hours as we asked them to stay longer to help unload a UHAUL of belongings we had from a storage as well. Payment verification for the extra time was easily handled over the phone, and that combined with the ease of booking via Hire a Helper made this an easy process from start to finish. We would recommend NES to anyone looking for moving labor - you will not be disappointed! Although we did not require their services for the moving of our belongings with their truck, I suspect that the amount of care, professionalism, and hard would easily show in any other work they perform as well.

That afternoon and early evening, Nick and three other guys unloaded two packed moving trucks, put together our 7 beds, positioned furniture where we needed it and treated our new home like it was their own. On the day of the move I heard from Nick as well as the foreman of my move (Joe) who reviewed the details Nick and I set up, and who later showed up to unload my truck with his coworker, Steve. These guys showed up early and were exceptionally understanding when my Real Estate agent screwed me by 1) not having the lease ready, 2) not having keys to the property. These guys kindly waited for two hours and negotiated with their next move, who was thankfully flexible around her timing. Joe and Steve did it in exactly 3 hours as estimated (once we finally got keys and lease). I was alone in town (moving from Baltimore) and Joe and Steve also even helped me get my U Haul back to a dealership. All in all these guys exceeded my expectations incredibly. Nick is very enthusiastic and is easy to reach with questions. We did an in-town move of everything we own. He provided us with all of the packing materials beforehand. We packed our own things, except for fragile items. On the day of the move, Tarcio came early by himself to help us pack the fragile items (suggested by Nick to minimize cost). Once that was done, the rest of the crew (Nick, Nick, and Ron) showed up to disassemble our furniture and load the truck. These guys definitely know what they are doing -- each piece of furniture was thoroughly padded with blankets or shrink-wrapped, and they took extra special care of more fragile/valuable pieces. The crew was hardworking, and Nick kept everything moving at a brisk pace. When things were being unloaded into our new place, they asked where to put things and spent time helping us arrange our furniture. One of our pieces of furniture had been damaged in the past before the move, and Nick even helped us fix that to the best of his ability. At the end, the price I paid was the price I was expecting to pay based on his quotes. To be fair, the process wasn't completely seamless -- when packing our fragile items, Tarcio didn't bring enough packing materials with him, so I had to go and buy some more myself. And a few pieces of furniture did get a little dinged, but less so than I have experienced in previous moves (nothing was broken, including our fragile items). And they worked so well together as a team. Nick was extremely customer oriented and courteous, but I was most blown away with how wonderfully he treated his workers. He often referred to each of them as "Sir", and was continuously praising them, and telling them "great job". It was well-deserved praise, but it was very nice to witness. These guys are EXTREMELY experienced, and apparently love what they do. They did it with passion and LOTS of energy. They completed our 4 hour job in 3 hours, and I have no doubt whatsoever that the movers that I have worked with in the past would've taken over 4 hours and the results would have come nowhere near Nick & Sons in terms of quality. When we find our next home, and are ready to unload those PODs, there is absolutely no other choice for us than to call on Nick & Sons again. At 2:00pm, they called me and said they couldn't come until 3 because their previous job went long. Fine, because my girlfriend and I were still buying furniture. Then at 3, they called and said 4:30. The foreman told me, "But we're bringing a third guy, so we'll be quick!" Great. Then at 4:30, they called and said 5:30-6. So not off to a great start. They arrived sometime between 5 and 6, and when they got here they worked like champs unloading my van - including a very heavy couch. We served water and lemonade and we had a good rapport. On your way to a great review. Then, the foreman pulls me aside and says something like, "Look, there's no way that only two of us could have unloaded your things in 2 hours. You're getting 3 movers. So, because it's fair, we want to charge you for the two of us for a second hour." What? I told him: first, you purposefully made it sound like the third person was a "bonus" for you being hours late; second, if you want to charge me for three people, you have to tell me before you start moving things, so I can decide if I want to pay more; and third, if there had been things left in the truck after two hours, I would have moved them myself. That's why I only hired two movers for two hours. I ended up providing a generous tip (which I hadn't planned on doing), but I think that despite the really great work these guys did actually moving things up four obnoxious flights of stairs, it's extraordinarily unprofessional to (a) be hours late, and (b) try to hustle me for more money at the ve Show Response

All in all, these guys worked like dogs for an entire day. They barely asked for a couple of glasses of water. Along the way, Nick was very deliberate in making sure we were happy with how things were being done. At the end, he took me through a final walk through to make sure that everything was more or less where we wanted it. Really, they’re a class act all the way. If I had to pick one area where they weren’t A+, it would be in packing. We were not 100% prepared when they got there, so we had some stereo and electronics that were not bubble wrapped and ready to go. Nick and co, mostly put these things on the floor of the truck on blankets, and covered them with more blankets. It worked out fine, but I would have personally felt better if they had been padded up a bit more. Again, though, this may just be a piece of mind thing, as everything seems to still work, and nothing seems to have gotten scratched. Also, we had them move some things into storage pods, and by the end, when it had gotten quite late, the last pod was not loaded up quite as neatly or efficiently as the first 2. But, to be clear, these are minor nits. Just something for people to be aware of. In general, I would recommend these guys without reservation. They are professional, honest, pleasant, very hard working, and know what they are doing. And their prices are reasonable. What more could you want?
