Both Lavar and his wife or assistant are the most unprofessional, unorganized people and company ever. we confirmed an order on Monday for Friday (today) and they didn't have the decency to call to say that they wont make it. they were continuing to lie about coming in 10mins, then 30mins, then 50 mins and then never showed up. We hired Stress Free Moving as recommended by PODS to unload our pods at our final destination. The contract was for 4 men and 5 hours. They were priced higher than the other mover’s bids, but we figured they would have a good idea of doing a pods move.
Three of the 4 pods arrived as they were scheduled, but the 4th was delayed. They had nothing to do, even though all the boxes were marked which room each box should have been placed. Instead they were all piled up high in the living room and dining room. (Pics available.)
They told us they were leaving, but would be back by the time the last pod showed up. They were gone for an hour, but only 2 showed up for the last pod - which took them towards the end of the 5 hours. Hence they had no time to put together beds and finish the job as contracted.
Instead of leaving for an hour of my contracted time, they could have been putting the boxes in the correct rooms, making space to walk around. Then, had they sent all 4 men back, they could have been able to assemble the beds and furniture before the 5 hours expired. The terms of our contract were not met and I was basically overcharged for men that were not at our property doing the job that I paid for them to do.
1) Work stopped once the third pod was emptied, and all four men left for over an hour.
2) Only 2 men returned to empty the fourth pod, but couldn’t finish the job.
I paid for 4 men for 5 hours, but I only got 3 men for 3 hours and 2 men for 1 hour. Yet their contract says no prorated refunds for anything done in less that 5 hours. To beat it all they were going to charge me for the 15 mins over the 5 hours. I didn’t even get what I paid for $1,200 to start with.
Guys were nice, but I felt manipulated when they decided to leave for an hour… and I feel ripped off for a few hundred dollars on the hour they took off and then only retuned with 2 of the 4 workers. I purchased 20 man hours at $296 per man hour. Instead I got 14 hours total.
I feel strongly that I am due a refund of $296 for the hour that all 4 just left, plus another $150 for 2 instead of 4 workers in the last hour. (BTW they moved 2 guys off my move to work on another move way before my 5 hours expired.)
The whole process was anything but Stress Free. No, I do not recommend Stress Free Moving for your moving needs. The next day I hired Hawk Movers and 2 men had the whole house of boxes sorted and all the furniture put together. I had to pay them to fix what Stress Free Moving failed to perform by not living up to their contract.
Revised: although my opinion of Stress Free Movers hasn’t changed, I’m impressed by Hire a Helper who answered my complain. They stepped in and resolved the issue that we overpaid for man hours during our move.

They placed your boxes where they were instructed to place them.
At no time were they asked to put furniture together. We do offer that service but usually it's requested.
Also, there was approximately 2 hours of delay with waiting for your pods and you also were issued a discount for that wait time.

They were on time. Gentle on my homes walls and doors. Friendly and kind. Which is a bonus when you are letting strangers into your safe space. When it came time to break it to me that I only had space for one more item they explained why without mansplaining me. I would hire these two again and recommend using Hire A Helper.
