$750 for one hour of work; no I am not terribly happy.
It seems like this job passes thru many hands so its hard to know who to be unhappy with.
Communications seemed poor - even though I supplied a precise description of the job, the two men arrived expecting to unload a pod.
I had gone thru the checklist and had assumed nothing I had would exceed the weight limit.
After the movers had moved one heavy piece i was told that since it exceeded two hundred pounds it would be 'extra'.
"how much extra"?
"We'll let you know, they'll tell us"
Hmmm.
At the end they declared I owed an extra $100. I went along with it; and paid an extra $100 cash via Venmo. I also tipped the 'strongly encouraged' $20 per man (why was the tip explicit, and not the 'extra charge' for overweight?)
Upon reviewing my contract, I found that the excessive weight limit is 300 pounds, not 200 as declared by the crew. I wrote back to Hire A Helper about this and no one has responded.
Yes my furniture was safely moved. Yes they were friendly and worked hard. It took them an hour.
However, given these high costs and the questionable weight charge, I would never, ever use Hire a Helper/EZMove again.

Moving is always stressful, no matter who does it with you, but really important to me is the good character of people touching all my stuff. This group of 4 were hard workers, respectful and even entertaining. Great guys. Billing took some work/adjustment, but turned out ok.

How should a customer prepare for moving day?
If items need to be loaded/ put in a specific area make sure they’re labeled for the team so there’s no miscommunication. If there’s any specialty items alert crew lead so we can make sure it’s priority. And if any changes need to be made to the schedule alert us so we can be ready to go when you are.
What types of moves have you handled?
We have done it all. Small moves. Big moves. Long distance (New York) (Ohio) relocations. We’ve handled some of the most complicated moves there are. From spiral staircases, to 3 story with no access, we have done it all.
What's your favorite part about being a mover?
Meeting new people and bringing a smile to their face. Seeing thier appreciation for our hard work.
What training do you provide your crew members?
Some of the best. I’ve learned throughout the years many different ways from some of the top movers in the U.S. All our training is custom. Everything from hand placement to lifting techniques, observance skills to leading. Safety is number 1.
