We are careful who we send into your home, around your family and to handle your property, we offer background checked helpers, checked through Hireahelper. INSURANCE through Hireahelper covers goods while being handled by our helpers up to $.60 per pound (policy must be activated by completing an inventory form). Full coverage insurance also available through Hireahelper. We'll never leave you stranded! If late we'll send extra helpers to make up time at no cost when possible. TLDR: moving guys were fine. Company communication and logistics were a dumpster fire, then they charged me extra for it.
A few days before the move, I got a message from HireAHelper to call PROMOVE to confirm the moving date and time. I called and texted multiple times and got no response. I was scrambling to replace them at the last minute until finally, the night before Kirk texted and confirmed for “at or around 12pm”. At around 2:30 1 guy showed up (I booked 2). He moved what he could on his own but we were stuck on the big stuff until the second mover showed up at 4:20pm (over 4 hours late). Once the job was done, they put me on the phone with their boss who charged me for an extra hour—the job would have been done within the scheduled window if both guys actually started at the same time and could have worked together.
Logistics on Memorial day was indeed a dumpster fire, because it was a holiday we had multiple team members making themselves unavailable, then the assigned crew got stuck on an earlier job. Pulling people from their holiday plans is nigh on impossible, so our normal multiple layers of redundancy with backup personnel was depleted and I had to hire an emergency crew to complete the job. Even HIREAHELPER couldn't find a crew.
I was unaware you were charged overtime in that way, I was only told the job went over an hour. You should not have been assessed overtime. You didn't speak to the boss, I was not aware of that details before this review and you will be refunded. Ultimately my fault. Always disappointing to hear of a bad experience, So sorry, I will tighten up and do better.

The first guy showed up 2 minutes early and was nice. The second guy showed up 30 minutes late and was rude.

The good: on time (well, over an hour early), respectful and responsive staff
The not-so-good: lack of advanced planning or preparation; inefficient with time as if to intentionally slow pace to fill more hours; and poor attention to fragile items.
We would NOT use them again or recommend them.
Additional detail: Before the move, I specifically asked if helpers would come with a furniture dolly or whether I should rent one. They said the crew would bring one but they came with nothing. They spent excess time in the pod arranging items and became annoyed as I helped carry items to the pod. They stacked vulnerable items on hard surfaces and became annoyed when I added padding to protect exposed wood and metal. We were told several times that we were interfering with their "system," which we tried to respect. All would have been easier if they were efficient with time and attentive to fragile items.
Ultimately, the cost of our move doubled since extra hours are charged per mover.

I had a wonderful experience with these movers! They were both super friendly, on time, efficient, and thoughtful with my items. Even though we didn't end up using it, they brought a dolly and other materials to help move bigger items/furniture. It all got done in half the allotted time, and I would definitely use this service again.
