Equipment Details:

We can provide four wheel dollies and hand trucks to any move free of charge with advance notice. Plastic wrap, furniture pads and tie downs are available at an additional cost. Please call for rates. Piano moves are $100.00 for upright pianos and &150.00 for baby grands.

They wanted us to pay them in cash for any additional time and began lobbying for that - and for Cokes and Gatorade - from the moment they arrived. We were delayed getting started as they failed to bring the moving tape we had requested to secure plastic wrap on the furniture. So we ran to the store to buy the tape and they waited. A half-hour lost. When we approached the three-hour mark - the amount of time we had contracted with them to do the job - they stopped working and stood around talking and smoking cigarettes in the driveway. We asked how much longer it would take - ten minutes, they said. So we agreed to pay them fifty dollars cash to finish the job so we could get on the road. Instead, they hung around another hour-plus and my husband and brother had to get involved in moving things to get this job finished. These guys then reported to HireAHelper that they had worked over five hours. They had not. We ended up paying for four hours - because they had us over a barrel. Do not agree to pay cash on-site and if you are paying hourly, make sure you have it in writing when the job is complete. Terrible, terrible experience. We have used other local movers in other states and been so pleased. They bring runners to cover your floors and rugs and work so hard you are delighted to provide drinks and lunch to thank them. Not these guys. Slackers and con-men.

They arrived on time and were courteous. However, they did not bring any equipment even though we had specified that they do so. They didn't put anything down to protect the floors while moving. By the time we re…read morealized how they were sliding the dryer across the wood floor without any kind of protection, the hardwood floors were dented and scratched. When the damage was pointed out, one of the movers responded that the damage could be buffed out. We had a flooring contractor come to the house to assess the damage and he told us that he floor would have to totally refinished since there was damage in multiple areas. We tried to work with Jay Ls Moving to get the issue of the damage floor resolved but nothing came of it so we had to file a claim with HireAHelper. HireAHelper was extremely responsive and refunded the cost of the movers back to us in a timely manner.

They really didn't use much teamwork, but relied on hand trucks and furniture carts, rather than saving time and having both just grab the furniture and move it. For the price I was paying, I expected professionals but got amatures. Again, the were nice guys, but if they were out if my site, they were talking on cell phones, standing around, or doing a task that didnt require muscle, even after I told them only to focus on the heavy stuff. They did manage to move all of my furniture without destroying it or the walls. With more practice and direction, these two guys could be great movers. I just don't want to pay for on the job training. They did get all the heavy stuff moved, which was the most important part of the job, but I was hoping to have more if the smaller stuff done as well. So now I'm spending all of my Sunday finishing the job. On the bright side, thanks to Jay L, I'm getting some much needed exercise. Show Response
