Budget® Reviews
I really liked Jabril Mohamed who we dealt with picking up our truck and returning it. He is a nice guy, very pleasant and hard working. I got a great deal on mileage and chose to return my truck to his site even though it was 340 miles. I was able to leave my car there and it was safe. They have after hours drop off for keys also, I would use them again!
Truck seems fine. Needed a quick sweep in the cargo. The cab looks pretty good except a little grimy in the “hard to get to places”, i.e. cup holder and other holding areas. Windshield needs cleaning; bird poop and grime. Should be better for safety when driving especially since renters can’t run through a car wash. There is a back-up camera and back-up alarm. The cab is low tech. You will need a lighter fitted charger to plug in devices. Otherwise the pickup went smoothly and my blankets were already waiting in the cargo van.
I booked the truck through a phone call to Budget's agent. Included in the rental was a hand truck, dolly, and moving blankets. The local agent did a walk through inspection of the truck with my driver, but didn't mention to him that we would not be getting the hand truck, dolly, or moving blankets. We discovered that when the moving crew arrived to start loading the truck. My driver returned to the Budget location and was told that there were no hand trucks, dollies, or moving blankets in all of Lexington, Kentucky. It took another 2 hours to find moving blankets, which we had to buy, and the moving crew had to load the truck without a hand truck or dolly. The job took took 2 hours longer than it should have, which meant I had to pay double what I had planned to for that job. Maybe this should be a 1-star review instead of 2-stars. :-( I wouldn't use Budget again because of this fiasco.
The lady at the counter was very nice but they didn't have the car tow that we had ordered. We order this truck and tow three weeks in advance. She was on the phone calling everyone but no luck. Not her fault at all. When we called the company number they said they would call us back but NEVER DID. Budget lives up to the name I guess.
i didnt finish my reservation for some reason but i got my movers and never got a notificaiton asking if i meant to do that and when i went to get the truck on valencia in tucson az the clerk was very rude and not very helpful. the only truck i could get was a 26 ft way more turck than needed and he guilted me into get ins and adding a driver. Terrible place rent some where else go a little further to get better service
Budget was terrible. I paid nearly $1400 for a piece of crap truck. The back step was broken so you couldn't step on it at all when loading/unloading. The truck shook like crazy while driving. The window was not water tight, so I got soaked when driving through a storm. On top of all of that, the tires were not maintained and one of them blew out on me. I had to wait 3 hours to get someone to come out, mostly because of Budgets poor system. I was on hold for an hour and it took them another hour to even find somebody to dispatch. Absolutely terrible vehicle and terrible service.
Budget did not have the truck I needed the morning of our move. Although a smaller truck and extra miles were offered, the miles component was never an issue for our move. I asked the gentleman at Budget if they would be willing to help us with any additional movers hours since the truck they provided was likely not going to be able to move everything in the time that we had selected (3 hours with movers). The response I got from the Budget employee was that there was no way thewere going to do that because they would lose money on the rental and that they would rather cancel my reservation than work with us. For a major company to tell the customer that because they were not able to provide us the 26' truck we requested, they'd rather cancel on us than work with us on the new options is beyond me from a customer service standpoint. Will never use Budget again.
I rented a 16 foot truck ?? and Car ?? hauler they had my reservation complete however did not have the "furniture blankets" I had requested with my reservation package I choose from the website. I called to confirm everything was good, a few days earlier. I wish they would have told me, they ran out of furniture blankets. I didn't find out until after I got there, to pick up the truck ?? on moving day. Had to spend an extra $106 on furniture pads at lowes. Need better communication
My issue with the truck was that the price went from $44 to $58 and that I don't understand. I barely went any miles and spent $6.07 filling the truck up. Nothing was changed on my original order yet it still cost more than what the original paper work said that Budget sent me. I was disapointed. Even Budget was surprised by my mileage which I kept explaining to them where I lived (not far)
Was really disappointed with Budget Truck Rental on this long-distance move. The truck was old, dirty, had tons of trash and dust in the trailer. The cabin was marked as "quiet cabin" but it was anything but that. Customer service was a joke. When picking up the truck the person at the counter had no clue about trucks. When we had to call customer service, we were forced to go through a maze of calling options just to reach a human being (after a long wait). We were in a time crunch so were forced to go with them, but would never use Budget again (and would not recommend them to anyone).
I suppose there is a reason they call themselves "budget." We had wanted to rent a van to go across state lines for a one-way trip (over 1,000 miles). We were told they don't rent vans for these purposes. We had to rent a 12' truck. The day before, they called to talk us into using a van. When we arrived to rent, we were told we had to take the 12' truck. The truck was so filthy, I cleaned it for 3 days and it was still dirty. The door read "quiet cab." LOL It couldn't be further from the truth. It was SO loud I could barely hear myself think and that was when it wasn't raining! It rattled and vibrated like crazy. Uncomfortable seats. My husbands back took days to recover. The "check engine" light went on soon after we began our trip. We were told "it happens. Probably the sensor is bad. Don't worry about it." We traveled the entire trip with it on. The A/C and tire pressure light went on and off when it felt like it! I prayed the whole trip. At least the mirrors and brakes were good. I'm glad we had roadside assistance coverage, but we didn't have to use it. PS Both offices had a DOT MATRIX PRINTER!! I couldn't believe my eyes.
