PODS® Reviews
Good service overall. My only complaint is that they didn't tell me until a couple weeks before my move that they would/could not deliver the POD to the building I was moving into in Chicago (and I only found this out because I was specifically checking into this). So, I had to hire a separate moving company at the last minute to unload my POD at the warehouse and truck my belongings to the building, at an added cost of $900. It was an unwelcome surprise.
The ordering process was super easy. Most account and order items can be handled online. Our experience was very good, especially when dealing with PODS online or through their 800 number. Our only issue was the POD was 3 hours late (past the 3 hour window) delivering without a phone call. I was stressed enough without having to worry about whether the unit would be delivered.
Recommended by my son. Selected due to convenience for loading/unloading. Received quote and spoke to representative who was very patient and informative. POD arrived on time in clean and neat condition. Loaded today, on way to son's house with second POD to follow to our new home. All staff pleasant, cooperative, helpful and courteous. Thus far, a smooth experience. Will definitely recommend and use again.
Container was clean and strong. I would use them again. They were flexible with scheduling. All went well until delivery of the POD. Deliver was later than their window time and I had a crew waiting to unload. Driver didn't allow for traffic and then she drove under a tree and broke off a huge limb with the POD - twice before she figured it wouldn't work. Other than this driver, the experience was great, as was everyone with whom I worked. I would use them again.
Our experience with the pods was horrible. They delivered the pods with a delay of 4 days. They never told us where our container was even after their promised deadline of delivery. My wife and I had to go through days of trauma and anxiety about the whereabouts of our precious things. We also had to do last minute shopping for our travel right after as we had lost all confidence on them. No compensation offered as of yet from pods.
The container was fine but the pick-up was problematic. The POD was delivered Th. am and was to be loaded and picked up on Fr. Th. pm I received an automated call that it would be picked up between 7.30-8.30 Fri. am. The loaders weren't even supposed to arrived until 9 am Fr.! I had already spoken with a POD's rep asking for a late afternoon pick-up on Fri. and was assured that would happen. It took two assertive follow-up calls to make it happen, adding to the already high level of stress a move causes.
PODS is an excellent company to work with. Very highly recommended. My wife and I moved a 2-bedroom apartment from Denver, CO to Berkeley, CA. This was our first interstate move, and we struggled to decide on one of the myriad moving options available (U-Haul, van lines, sell/re-buy furniture). We ultimately decided we didn't want to drive a truck or deal with the hassle of selling furniture to save money. We contacted PODS and they set up the entire move in a friendly, 25-minute phone call. This included provisions to bag Denver municipal parking meters on a very busy street to allow container delivery. I did not need to contact them again to work out details, and the price they quoted me (approximately $2300) is exactly what they charged me. Our container was delivered, picked up, and re-delivered in Berkeley on-time with zero damage to contents. PODS also provided excellent customer service via a slick website that worked well on an iPhone. I was also able to engage loading/unloading services easily via iPhone through their website. Happy.
A great way to move if you have someone load it for you. They were on time and helpful. It is tough to reach them on the phone but the email confirmations and phone calls to me here very helpful. We saved almost $28,000 by using Pods and Tulsa Moving Pros. The biggest surprise was not one single thing was scratched or broken. WELL DONE! My wife was right again. It must be a woman thing. LOL.
Make sure you get ALL info from PODS. They told us to call a week before we needed the PODS dropped off at our new residence, which we did, except they couldn't get the pods to us till 2 days after the set we needed. Same goes for when they are picking up the empty PODS after unloading. I called them the same day they dropped off the pods because we finished unloading, and the earliest date they could pick them up was 2 weeks later!! Unexceptable! I can't have 2 pods sitting in my townhouse community taking up parking spaces for 2 weeks. Just be sure to get acurate info from PODS when scheduling
PODS was the right solution for our needs. We had to pack up our home in CT store our belongings for about 6 weeks before moving into our new apartment in DC. PODS allowed for this store and move combo - which was great. I also liked having the POD at our home for a full two weeks, so we could load items at our convenience. A few boxes here and there is a lot easier than all dozens of them in one day! The POD handle was slightly out of wack, which made us nervous to get in and out, but overall would rate it as a very positive experience. Our items arrived on time, with no tampering, and no water/weather damage - so what more can you ask for! Thanks.
Overall a good experience. I had a long distance move to NYC and this was the easiest and most cost effective method for me. I had two Pods delivered to fill, but I managed to fit everything in one 16' which saved me a lot of money. For my NYC apartment I needed a very specific move in date and time, and many van lines charged extra for that. My Pod was a couple of hours late for delivery in NYC but that was a very minor issue. I was happy with the customer service.
I only utilized one PODs container. It was the 16 footer. In retrospect I should have asked for two containers, because only half of the house hold items fit it. However, I should have thrown a lot of junk away and I probably would have been fine. I went with Budget Rentals to handle the rest of my items, as they were the most economical solution at the time (UHAUL's pricing was outrageous). I spent an additional $700 for a 16' moving truck and gas. PODs was great because it saved me the hastle of having to make multiple trips and when the time came for me to unload they dropped it right at the house. PODs seems to be a great answer for long distance moving (both fiscally and logistically), but ensure that you have enough PODs!
What a stressful experience. Went with PODS because they promised they would take care of the street parking permits required by the city. They did not-- we spoke to the city and they told us an application had never even been filed-- and thus PODS canceled our POD delivery. We had called twice the day before delivery and three times on the delivery date to ensure that precise thing didn't happen. Supervisor promised to follow up with us personally and didn't. Only reasons we rated them average and not worse is that their customer service is universally exemplary, their driver was great, and they did try to make up for their delivery error by offering us another date before our lease was up.
