I would have given PODS an excellent, however when scheduling the final POD for delivery and pick up, I was connected to a call center and supposedly scheduled for Dec.4. When I did not receive an email concerning the scheduled delivery. I called PODS immediately and I was informed that there was nothing scheduled. The person at the call center did not schedule anything. I had to schedule for the next day Dec. 5. I only wish I had gotten her name. I would recommend PODS. The only problem is explained above. Just follow up.
This transportation option worked well for the size and distance of my move, and the container (POD) was in good condition. My biggest issue was the customer service during drop off. First, I was told that I didn't need to be there at drop off and then the driver called to say I had to sign a document with permission to leave the pod on the street. Second, when ordering the pod, the online wizard had me precisely position the POD where it should be placed, and the driver did not have that image, just notes, and so I was left trying to describe where to put it, and where the opening should be, over the phone. Frustrating.
Using PODS was a very positive experience. However, one caveat: if you're not sure about which container size to use, I would recommend going larger, since estimating cubic feet for what I was moving was confusing. Also, it may impact the cost of moving long distance, so you should ask them if there is additional cost depending on the size of the container. Otherwise, it was the easiest move I've ever made!
I can't get over how simple this process was! I can't imagine why anyone would use unreliable, sneaky moving companies (had a horrible experience with multiple ones where they show up, raise the price, and you have to get out so you're at their mercy- is this common practice?!?!) PODS was so convenient, on my timeline, inexpensive and the reps were so easy to talk to. I also discovered how flexible they can be when I needed a faster pickup of my empty container and I wasn't even home!
The pods arrived on time as scheduled but when we attempted to change the pick up date we had to call back 3 times because they somehow ended up not making the correct change. Instead we almost got 2 extra pods delivered, then the 2nd call changed the pick up date to a wrong date. On the 3rd call they seem to have the correct information. Hopefully since we are still using them and hope our instructions are finally understood.
