U-Haul® Reviews
Michael was good at communicating, texted me ahead of time to let me know when they would arrive as requested, arrived on time, and worked efficiently. He and his helper were both extremely pleasant and took good care with the furniture. After the 2000+ mile drive, some of the hardware had rattled loose and he voluntarily tightened up the screws/cams - very helpful. They even swept out the truck. Would definitely use again
No problems with the U-Haul truck and car trailer. 26 foot truck is big, but handles very well. We looked into pods, but the truck was the cheapest and most convenient way to load quickly the morning of the move and be able to quickly unload a couple of days later into our new house. Highly recommend hiring help to load and unload your truck! They're professional and save your back!
They don’t tell you that their truck isn’t waterproof nor do they tell you that, if you’re going to go through rain, you should waterproof the things that you own. I lost several books and had several other things come out of the NEW moving boxes, purchased from Uhaul, disintegrate from water damage.
The lady yelled at my husband because he had left his mask in the car and she wanted him to wear a mask even though she herself had to get up and go find her mask to put on. She then snapped at us because the app pick up wasn't working on my phone. She snapped at my husband about how to download a pic of his License. She snapped at the other lady working there for getting the wrong key. She was snippy in answering questions and giving information. The whole experience was not pleasant.
When I booked my u haul on line, I received confirmation that I could pick it up at 8am, 4 miles from my home. I called the pick up location 2 days ahead and was told that I wasn't even in his system and was to pick it up 20 miles away at 9am. I told him that it wouldn't work because the movers were coming at 9. He told me that he would go pick up my truck to be at his location for my 8am pick up. Yay Scott!! When we went to get the truck, That morning, Scott told us that he was given a broken truck, as in the back sliding door wouldn't close the last 1 foot and it was a major struggle to get it open. Scott had been on the phone that morning to find a remedy for us. The next closest truck was in New Hampshire about 100 miles away. We were feeling desperate! Scott took a rubber mallet and pounded out the bent places in the door and lubricated it extensively. Thankfully the door was made operational and we made it home in plenty of time to meet the movers. BOO Uhaul! YAY Scott! He was exceedingly helpful and gave great advice to some of our other concerns. Even though Scott gave us great customer service, I don't think I would use Uhaul again. Moving is stressful enough without worrying about whether you can depend on the rental company.
Reserved a 20 foot truck. Then on the day of the reservation, they told me that they did not have the truck available at the location I requested, so I had to drive an hour away to get the truck I reserved. Then, the rental truck did not have the furniture blankets that I initially requested, so I had to go back again to get them. I also had trouble returning a dolly that I rented as I could not return it to just any Uhaul location, and I was charged an additional fee for lost equipment even though I returned it. Overall it was just a bad experience, and most Uhaul people I had to deal with were not helpful (over phone, and in person at Uhaul locations).
Uhaul trailer was reserved well in advance. I scheduled the movers and payment was made for the movers. Then when I contacted Uhaul, they told me the trailer was not available. Apparently they have a policy that even thought they send you emails and messages that you have an item reserved, they don't confirm this until 24 hours before the pick-up date. I had to scramble to find another one. Very stressful.
