U-Haul® Reviews
They saved my butt with this move. I had rented a truck through Budget and they botched my reservation so I had to rent a truck at the last minute. When I explained the situation the gentleman was unable to get me the size I needed but had a larger truck available. I said I'll take it. He then gave me a discount for the smaller truck price. I will forever be grateful to U Haul for my emergency save.
The pick-up process was super slow, I arrive 10 min early to pick up my truck and it took me almost 30 min to get the keys. On the website I ordered furniture blankets and furniture dolly ad was expecting to have those on the truck, but they had none there, which cause a big inconvenience on the day of my moving. The truck was old but OK and they changed the pick-up location to a further one, making spend more $ on miles, I ended up having to agree to that on being left without a truck...
They called me the day before my move to let me know the nearest 26' truck that I reserved 3 weeks before, was 300 miles away. And my options were to pick it up, push my move date a week (which was absolutely not an option) or cancel the reservation. I called Budget, Penske, Ryder and no one else had a 26' truck available on such short notice so we had no choice but to pick up this truck. Having to spend an entire day picking up a truck (and about $75 in gas) really threw off our schedule and moving process. Not to mention - having to drive 600 miles the day before moving 1100 miles really sucked! They never offered a discount or anything for the massive inconvenience they caused. I will never use uhaul again.
It was awful. Screwed up the original reservation then found me a truck and gave me extra miles to cover the long distance to pick-up. Pick up location was a travesty! I paid on line then had to pay more when i got to a filthy office where the clerk was smoking. The truck was FILTHY, and ran terrible!
We went to pick up the truck on our scheduled day/time. The place was closed and they didn't have our size truck in the lot. After calling the national service number, we were directed to a new location that had our size truck. The location was further away, which means more miles (local moves are charged by the mile) and more gas, so that's a bummer. we literally drove past a Budget Truck Rental place with the size truck we needed and I was super tempted to pull in... but wanted to stick with our original Uhaul choice. When we got there, they were also closed. We called the number on the email from Uhaul and the guy answered and said he would be there in 15 minutes. Once he arrived, the transaction went fairly quickly. When we got in the truck, it was filthy inside the cabin. Opened the back to look inside and it was also filthy, with random batteries and debris. Mind you, we are in the midst of Covid-19 where cleaning should be top of mind. We spent the first 30 minutes of a very delayed truck pick up up cleaning. So on top of an already stressful day of moving, this experience just added more stress. I chose 2 stars instead of 1 because they lady on the phone with customer service was very helpful in getting us set up at a new location.

Weston, VTI rented a 15' Uhaul truck to move 3 mattresses, a large couch, 2 upholstered chairs, a patio table/chairs, and a dismantled squat rig. Everything fit comfortably in the truck, which was very clean and in great condition. The truck pickup and drop off was all online using the Uhaul app, which was easy to use. The only issue was that limited cell reception in the pickup area could have caused problems (something to keep in mind when doing an online pickup in a remote location).
The truck we were given was having electrical issues causing a misfire and the customer service guy essentially told us to keep driving without knowing what the issue was. After a mechanic was called and came to test the vehicle, we proceeded to carry on the next day without UHaul covering the cost of a hotel stay that we had not planned on needing.
DIY at it's finest! Pick-up of the truck was easy. We provided our own boxes (banker's boxes, mostly and moving boxes from Wal-Mart). Stopped at Love's Travel Stops on the way (highly recommended for clean bathrooms and good gas prices). The return of the truck was at a local Sunoco. They did NOT have posted on their site to return the truck to the alley behind the back of the gas station. Other than that, the truck worked well and had the expected bouncy ride.
