ABF UPack® Reviews
I preferred the trailer to the cube because I am horrible at estimating space and if I needed more or less, I had options. They were a little off in their drop off time but the driver took the time to show me how the ramp worked as well as the bulkhead doors. We used them for a past move and had success.
I have used ABF for two moves. Both moves went very well. ABF was easy to work with, were on time with drop off and pick up. Staff was friendly. I have no complaints and would recommend to anyone who wants a cost effective way to move, especially long distance. I had a quote from a private moving company of $6,000 for our move (not including storage), but only spent a total of $2,900 with ABF (this figure includes 2 months of storage and hiring a moving team to load and unload).
I used ABF ReloCubes in the past, and was happy with them so I contacted them again for this move. The gentleman helping me on the phone suggested we use a trailer as it would be cheaper then the ReloCubes for this move. All of their customer service people I have spoken with, and their drivers who delivered or picked up equipment have been extremely pleasant to work with. Their system of text messages made it easy to keep up with the status of my "stuff" and schedule the pick-up of their equipment, it couldn't have been easier. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5, was because I feel they could have transported my belongings a little more directly saving time, as well as the amount of bouncing and jiggling of my boxes. I feel the extra time caused some undue stress on my boxes and property. Also I was told 7 - 9 days, and my trailer did not arrive until day 10, not counting the day it was picked-up.
It was okay. If I were to move again, I would not use them. We were under a time crunch when moving and were given a 8-11 time window for drop off and it didnt come until 1230ish. The bulk head that we had secure ourselves to protect our belongings in the truck was bent and very difficult to secure. When our belongings arrived, we had more difficulty removing the bulk head because of a load that pushed against our stuff. My husband busted his hand trying to remove it. For $3,000 the drivers should help putting up and removing the bulk head.
When the driver came to pick up the loaded trailer he repeatedly slammed into the trailer to get it to connect. I suspect this is what caused the back third of our belongings to topple over BACKWARDS and were damaged with multiple scratches and gouges on the wooden furniture. As far as the rest of the service, the communication and coordination w/ the company was good. Everything went according to scheduled times.
I used an ABF UPack 28ft trailer to move from California to Georgia. Everyone is very professional at UPack and answered all of my questions and concerns. I was given an easy to follow schedule for delivery and pickup of the trailer. I was able to fit all my personal items onto the trailer with ease. Using ABF UPack Trailer was definitely the best option for me, I got the space I needed for a very fair price. I would definitely recommend UPack and use them again.
This option was a good one for us. The trailer was in good condition and the driver was professional. Pick-up, storage, and drop off were all smooth. I did a great deal of on-line searching and spoke to representatives from several companies. This company had the best offer. I would use them again. They were excellent in helping to resolve a problem we had Metro-movers of Albuquerque.. Everything on the contract was delivered as agreed upon.
UPack really came through for me. I had a two car garage stuffed with my belongings that needed to be moved 150 miles. The trailer was dropped early on time and we were given an extra day to get the job done. At the destination, we were also given extra time to get labor arranged to unload it. We are senior citizens so this turned out to be an excellent way for us to move this time. I hope we are healthy enough to use this method next time. Thanks U Pack for your services.
I rented space on a 28 foot truck. The company dropped the truck exactly when they said they would. The driver, Tim, was very friendly and helpful. The truck was very clean and everything was in good working order. I called for them to pick up the truck when the packing was done and they arrived the next day and got the truck. I have been able to follow where the truck is on the route to get to my destination very easily. This was a great company to work with and it was extremely reasonably priced compared to what a full service moving company wanted to charge.
Our belongings were left behind when we moved out, sitting in the trailer waiting to be picked up. We were a little worried that something would happen to them, but it turns out there was no need to worry at all, the ABF drivers are way more experienced at driving these types of loads. Nothing had moved at all when we unloaded our trailer at our destination. Awesome job!
ABF UPack is an excellent option for moving long distance on a budget. You only pay for the space you use. You don't have to worry about driving a large truck or towing your vehicle. The price was much better than all the other rental options I could find. Their customer service is wonderful. The dispatchers at the terminals are great and super friendly. I would definitely use them again. The drivers that dropped off and picked up the trailers were also great. The drop of time of the trailer was actually early and I was called and notified of everything before hand. The only issue is trying to line up movers to unload the truck and the delivery of the trailer. With a move so far it's very hard to pin down a day and time until delivery time is close. My experience was great and I highly recommend using their service.
U-Pack staff always knowledgeable, professional, prompt and courteous even when having to postpone dates twice due to major snow storm and illness. Follow-up excellent. Truck delivered from ABF out of Cleveland could have been cleaner on the inside plus a more detailed explanation from the drop-off driver regarding the dividing doors and loading ramp details would have been helpful. All in all shipment was two days early upon arrival in San Francisco and all arrived with no breakage or issues. Overall, very satisfied and would recommend without any hesitation.
They did a great job of scheduling my trailer deliveries and pickups, even managing to pick up my trailer later on the same day that I had it delivered, which surprised me. My trailer got delayed quite a few times on its trek cross-country, due to unavoidable weather delays. Some better communication from them about the delays would have been helpful, but it worked out fine in the end. I'll use this company again. Do yourself a favor... if you are not sure exactly how many ReloCubes you will need, just use one of their trailers and pay by the foot. So much easier, and less trouble dealing with the weight limits of the cubes. I was so glad I decided to do that, after needing a lot more space than I had originally envisioned. Just make sure you measure the number of linear feet of trailer space you used, in case there is a discrepancy with U-Pack's measurement.
After careful consideration and comparison of various methods of transport, I found this to be the most economical and less stressful means to move my goods from Maryland to Texas. I liked the fact that I had 28 ft of trailer space available should I need it. I didn't have to worry about running out of space, and how many to use, by selecting amongst the variously sized "cubes" of UPack and its competitors. (I ended up using only 15 linear feet). My interactions with the UPack personnel were cordial and productive. The trailer was delivered and picked up within the time slots arranged in an efficient manner. I would definitely recommend this service and will likely use UPack and ABF again in future moves.
Their ReloCubes are great, not like cheap U-haul cubes that takes a lot of moisture. Their price was reasonably lower than other companies. Overall, I was very happy with them. HOWEVER, their referred moving helpers, Moving Staffers, is terrible. They are very expensive, very slow and charged me extra hours while the movers told me that they will not. Another reason for the "Good Rating" is that they did not inform me about that they will not deliver my ReloCubes to my new apartment due to City of Chicago regulations. I learned that one day before my move and had to rent a truck for picking up my staff. They should have emphasized that HUGE issue before.
If it were not for Joe at the Phoenix terminal I would be in a pickle. U Pack will confirm a am or pm delivery. But in my case I was so many miles outside of the delivery zone and my delivery or spot time was dictated by Phoenix terminal. Joe made it happen and was professional and friendly. I cannot thank him enough because I would of still had to pay for hired help scheduled if I did not get a am drop off. This almost happened.
We ended up choosing ABF b/c they would deliver to our new home town; they were versatile, available, had good ratings and were well-priced. The driver was reachable, the transition and transport of the trailer from Chicago to Bend, Oregon was timely and seamless; every service person I spoke with over the course of planning and execution, from delivery/pick-up (at origin & destination), were helpful, courteous, knowledgable, professional and just plain "pleasant".
