1-800-PACK-RAT® Reviews
Everything went smoothly except for one driver who delivered the Pod on 1/12/2026. He was a white man with a beard. He seemed concerned about where to park the Pod, even after it had been discussed, then he moved a dumpster behind the Pod even though it was scheduled to be picked up later that day. When I pointed this out, he raised his voice and said, “Did you wait for me to line up before saying anything?!” He then continued to yell at me for a while, and I eventually yelled back. I strongly feel he would not have treated a man the same way. I was very disappointed with his behavior, though the other drivers were excellent.
While the rental was affordable, there is NO way that that 16 foot container could house the average 3-bedroom home. I gave away my entire bedroom set, my son's bedroom set, my dining room table, kitchen table, and sofa, and we were lacking space. Just think -- none of those items were in the container, and we STILL had very little room. We literally used up every inch of space, and I still needed a small truck to get the rest of the items. The service was lovely, but there was simply not enough room for our items.
They underestimated how many pods I would need, even though I gave them an accurate weight estimate. The sales people in NC will promise you the moon to have you book, but when those promises do not materialize the customer service reps couldn't care less. I will say the facility manager that is storing my containers was AMAZING. He stepped in and was able to solve my issues.
The POD was late and I was on hold in the queue for almost 30 minutes before speaking to anyone. Finally Ian answered and I mentioned the initial hold time and he sighed with disgust. That upset me even more and I told him how unprofessional he is being. Ian then lied about where the driver was and stating he could not leave me on hold while reaching out to the warehouse ... another lie. I will never used Pack Rat again for any future moved. The customer service is awful and the hold times are insane.
I had used 1-800-Pack-Rat previously during the pandemic. I had no issues and decided to use them again for our move out of state. They were great, the only problem was that an inexperienced driver was scared to do a our drop off because we had low power lines. I spoke with a manager, and the next morning, we had the storage delivered without issues with the power lines.
The Pack Rat container was not delivered the day it was scheduled due to a truck breakdown. We were upset with the company as we were on a tight moving schedule. We made several phone calls to 1-800-Pack Rat to rectify the problem. We received a phone call from the regional manager who promised to deliver the container the following day by 10:30am. It arrived even earlier at 8:30am.
We've used them before and like them quite well. However, what truck they send to deliver and pick-up can make a world of difference. They dropped off with a smaller truck and when the big truck came to pick-up we had to remove out mail box to make it happen. At the new home we accepted delivery a day early but couldn't get pick-up any earlier and our neighborhood charges for the days we have the containers on the road.
I rented the largest container available. My home is 3 bedroom w/ basement, just under 1000 sq foot. It did not all fit but I am not disappointed in this company. The price compared to other pods is way better. They have barn style doors to allow easier packing and access. They are fast, friendly and customer service is great. My only concern is the floor inside the pod was cracked when I received it. But it seemed to have a good foundation underneath to support.
Not a fan of how they communicate. Initially everything seemed great, promises were made and expectations were set. After they took our container things got difficult. Ultimately, I got what I needed. Every time I had to contact support, I had a hold wait time of 60 minutes. I will not use PackRat or recommend them.
