We are half way there as our containesare in transit. So far, everythign has been smooth and as they described. The local PackRat delivery / pick up people are wonderful and work with you to make the delivery and pick up as stress free as possible. We had weather on the day of delivery of a container (a Friday) and they delivered on Saturday which didn't affect out schedule with Oregon Trail Moving.
I have used competitors previously with neutral experiences, but I tried this company for the first time, and it was pretty great from start to finish. They were flexible with my situation, honest about costs, expectations, and timing, and communicative EVERY step of the way. I always knew what just happened, what was next, and when that would happen. This helped ease a lot of grey areas in the stress of moving. Will use them again, no question.
PackRat has been an up and down experience. When we packed up in another state the ordered pods were late, the driver said he has some personal matters and could not deliver. We had a closing and movers scheduled, so we had to complain to a higher level to get our ordered containers. When we needed another container, however, PackRat went above and beyond to get this container in order to complete the sale of the home. Upon arrival at the new home, PackRat changed the planned delivery dates and therefore we went twelve days without a substantial amount of our household items, including the beds. They were able to stick to the new dates they provided, we were able to change the scheduled unloading, but it was a lot of wasted time sitting waiting for the containers. They were picked up on schedule. The PackRat employees in our new state were very professional and did the job well.
Excellent support when we booked their service. They called a day before as expected and asked if they can bring the containers early since they had a cancellation. That all worked out - 2 different drivers arrived with one container each. They both did a great job fitting it down our narrow street. They were very professional.
Good service from end to end, however, the only thing that could be improved is the arrival window, there is no window....none of the reps can give an answer on an ETA of the container which can be very stressful to customers. Whether its for delivery or pick-up, customers were left not knowing when until an hour before the driver texts or calls. In our experience, it wasn't an hour, it was more like 35 mins the driver called prior to arrival. If you're a customer you know what I'm talking about. For me it didn't stop there, it was also stressful when the container supposed to be picked up from origin destination on Tuesday, only to find that they couldn't make it on the day due to many "orders", and it ended up the next day. I found out about this after calling the 1-800 number multiple times worrying. That wasn't a good experience. I wish it was different. After that incident, the service got better. I hope they'll improve on this matter. It wasn't a cheap option, the reason why we did it is to lessen the stress & burden traveling cross country with a pet. At the end destination, it was a much better experience....from speaking with a rep to the driver who delivered & pick up empty container. For that, we thank you.
So much went wrong with this. The agent "assured" me all of my belongings would fit in a 16' container even though I told her everything I had. Just be honest, so we can rent what we need! My container was half loaded and no way the rest of my house was going to fit. I called to get an additional 8' container and was told they didn't have one, but would give me another 16' with the discount. That means you're only charging me for the 8' right? No...I was charged for another 16'. $4200 I wasn't expecting to pay. They just charged my credit card without my permission. When I escalated to a supervisor, they only gave me a $550 discount. The 1st driver didn't contact me that he was on his way, but called me when he arrived at my house. I had to run home to meet him. The driver that dropped my 2nd container was great and so were the 2 drivers that picked up my containers. You also have to wait on hold for about 20 minutes anytime you want to speak with someone.
PackRat has the best containers and turns out best pricing too. They assigned a veteran friendly planner and things were done well plus a veteran benefit. Be sure to plan for your garage and yard items. 2 fully packed 16 ft containers were not enough, later after house clean out I needed a uhaul trailer. I should have gotten a 3rd 6 ft or maybe 12 ft containers. Live and learn. My planner suggested it but I thought I could let go of more. The pickup and delivery schedulers and drivers were very friendly as well. I opted for unload helpers and that made a huge difference. A holiday present to myself. If you are in the NW Florida or south Alabama area, choose Allsouth Moving LLC for load/unload helpers. $6300 + ($440 * 2 to unload helper teams) 2 unload days, one for each container, so 2 unload teams 1400 sqft + garage, basement and yard
Dealing with the corporate office was not a good experience. They did not seem to know what the local office schedules were. The hold times and call backs were horrible. For each appointment they booked the local office was kept in the dark. My storage was in climate controlled long term rental for 4 containers. The local delivery gentleman for the first drop off was wonderful, helpful, and courteous. Still awaiting the next drop off as I needed two. All four containers are full of mold so the majority of my belongings in these 4 PODS are unusable and taking an inordinate amount of time to sort through and then arrange for the stuff to be hauled away by a private contractor at my expense. Since the items could not come into my home due to mold, my yard looks like a flea market or a junk yard at this point. Extremely disappointed with the supposed climate control storage. The containers are in very poor condition as well. In addition to mold, so far have found dead insects, live earwigs, spider balls, etc. in my belongings. Very disappointing.
