1-800-PACK-RAT® Reviews
We are very displeased with the Pack Rat process. Consistently, we were not able to obtain the status of our unit. Also, after the unit was deposited at our new home address, and it was unloaded, it had to remain in our driveway for six days, until Pack Rat could send a resource to pick it up. Their scheduling is horrible. We would never use them again, nor recommend them to anyone.
We used an old dominos truck that pack rat sent out because the containers we not offered in my area. I would try contacting old dominion directly if I were going to move again. I have a feeling it would be cheaper to cut pack rat out as the middle man. No issues and using pack rat trailor service was cheaper than a traditional moving company.
Did not deliver containers on the day we scheduled weeks in advance. Then se were told that they would deliver us first the next day at 8 am but that didn't happen finally delivered after 7 pm more than 24 hours late. Had to reschedule labor to move us in on a Sunday. Less than satisfied even after a refund of 610 dollars. I spent more than 6000 dollars with 1800 pack rat. Service should have been better.
Storage was the best solution I could have chosen; everything went smoothly. My furniture remained in good condition during the four months of storage. I would recommend anyone traveling/moving long distance to use this service. It takes out most of the hassle of having to transport your belongings long distance and can potentially save time and money.
They were excellent. They delivered and picked up the container for this long distance move exactly as scheduled and were very helpful with all of the details and packing suggestions. The staff were outstanding, including their professionalism, courtesy and helpfulness. We would highly recommend them.
This move with Pack Rat was not a good one for me at all. It started out that when I was supposed to have the second container delivered, and it was on a Saturday, I called to find out when I was getting it and they didn't have it on record that I was getting one. The drive pulled some strings and was able to get me a pod within two hours. No lock, no blankets, no moving kit, but I got the container. That was helpful. The next thing that happened was that my containers were delivered ONE WEEK LATE!!! I was receiving the automated calls that I was scheduled to receive a container. But after not receiving it/them, I called to find out where they were. Well, lo and behold, the containers which were scheduled to be delivered in Minnesota were still in storage down in Georgia!! Wow. I had taken six days plus a weekend off work to get settled in my new place. That didn't happen! I containers were then expedited here but too little, too late. I only had a day and a half of vacation once they were unloaded to get settled into my new place. I was not happy. I had to make at least two dozen calls to Pack Rat to get answers, have them arrange movers for me (they paid the movers since they screwed up), etc. I almost went over this month on my cell phone minutes - due to all my calls to Pack Rat! Then, the last couple of things that happened is that when the first container was delivered, the drive was inexperienced and ended up digging up major holes in the lawn across the street. Not good!!! And lastly, the second container was scheduled to be picked up on a Friday but Saturday morning it was still there. I had to call, yet again, to get it picked up. The owner himself - Randy - personally picked up the container and apologized so all was good, but it was yet another call to remedy a situation. I did NOT enjoy my experience with Pack Rat and probably would not recommend them to anyone moving long distance. I will hire a moving company next time.
