PODS® Reviews
PODS was easy to deal with, easy to contact, very clear about charges, and on schedule. Our property arrived in good condition and appeared to have been protected as PODS advertises. I rate the service excellent. The downside is, if you have a three bedroom house, one sixteen ft. container won't be nearly enough!
The drivers were on time and helpful. My poor rating is solely based on PODS estimate on the number of containers I would need. They said two would be plenty, based on a phone call with me. They were wrong. I had to rent a Penske truck because two were not enough. Dissapointed. I would not not recommend PODS unless they changed their process to include a pre-move site visit to ensure a proper estimate.
We had used PODS several times over the past two decades. Our last experience was a nightmare. It is very obvious that our POD was dropped. About 50% of our possessions were destroyed. We were heartbroken when we opened our POD to see everything sideways. When the POD was packed, everything was tucked in place. Nothing made sense except that somehow the container was dropped.
We didn't get to a good start with PODS unfortunately which soured things a little. First, they were supposed to deliver the POD in the afternoon so we can start moving that night and into the following day. The driver called and told us they'd come in around 4-ish. Okay, that will work. Driver called again and told us the container he had was problematic and he has to go back and get a new one and so it'll push us into the evening. Got the POD around 7pm. Well that's a bummer, but we can still work it out. The following day, they called and now they're ahead of schedule and they'd be picking it up at 2:00pm. We were still about an hour or so away from finishing and so called up PODS to see if they can just delay a little bit, maybe get a meal or something, but told us no. They'd have to schedule it for another day... which was 3 days away would be the earliest. This delay pushed the interstate move and missed the target moving day by a day (which is actually the weekend). For delivery, I just paid the extra cost to get "guaranteed" delivery time... and it worked. PODS container got delivered on-time, stuff got out as planned, and they picked it up without the initial time crunch. Another thing... we paid for blanket rental which they gladly put on our invoice. POD that got delivered... didn't have any blankets. We scrambled to get new ones during moving day. When I called them up to ask about it... apparently they don't do blanket rentals for an interstate move! Should have told us when we booked it then... it was booked same time we booked the POD. OTHER than all of that... overall, subjectively, it was still a good experience and would still consider them on my next move.
Workers arrived on time. However, on previous load of pod in June, the workers were very professional and did an excellent job of loading the first pod. However this time workers appeared not to be trained or prepared in proper loading techniques. Things were loaded haphazardly and ropes securing the items were loose. They said they did not have room to load my patio table but there were large gaps in the middle and back of the pod. They were very polite and worked hard but what I expect from Hire a helper and Unlimited moving services is movers with experience in packing and movingfurniture and household goods efficiently to fill the completelyu fill the POD without damage. Later in the day I found a large piece of the foot of my cherrywood 4 poster bed lying in the driveway. After the great job on the first POD. I am very disappoint in the move this time and if this is an example of usual workers sent out, I would not use Unlimited Moving services again. Please respond. Donna M Thomas
This was our first experience with Pods. We chose this company because they were reasonably priced. However, we were disappointed that one antique lawyer's bookcase was damaged. It arrived here broken on the top glass shelf, with the leaded glass bent in, which broke the wood at the bottom of the shelf. This was NOT the fault of Gary or D, and occurred due to improper packing back in Pennsylvania or shifting of the load in transit. We will be submitting a claim for damages to HireAHelper and/or Pods.
