PODS® Reviews
PODS delivered our POD in a different place than where we wanted it, but it turned out they needed to give themselves enough room to drive the truck in to pick it up. Our only real beef with them was that when they delivered it, we had no notice, and we were home, but they just dropped it and ran. Consequently, they had to come back to give us a padlock and more blankets. The POD is a great way to go. I ordered the 7' x 8'. I whittled down a 2 bedroom house + 1200 sq ft basement into that tiny POD! It really forces you to purge stuff, which is great. They delivered it to us in Boston when they said they would, and were very respectful of our neighbor's lawn. I would recommend them to anyone who's moving.
Our helpers we're loading our PODS to travel 1.800 miles and then be stored for 12 months. They were careful, considerate and kept us updated on their progress or any concerns. They helped (tremendously) ease a super, super stressful time for us. We thought we could do it ourselves and we were so very glad we hired helpers instead.
The drivers who delivered, Benny and Toj were very efficient, helpful and friendly. We ordered three pods but only used two. I am having some issues communicating that info to address billing, but there is a hurricane bearing down on them so I trust it will all get squared away once they are back in their offices.
PODS is truly the only way to go if you are going to need temporary or long term storage. this is our 3rd time using PODS and we have been very please with the experience every time. The most convenient way to move since it does not require the secondary effort of unloading into a storage unit. All the loading/unloading happens right there in the convenience of your own driveway. This is a brilliant business concept!
Larry delivered and picked up my POD. He was hands down the best part of the move. I got the biggest POD available. It was not big enough for all of my things. I had a bedroom, dining room, living room. I had plenty of boxes and an unfinished basement with a treadmill. I disassembled just about everything with the exception of the bed frame. I carried every box to the basement garage and all drawers. I tried the best I could to set the movers up for success. It still didn't seem to be enough.
The POD container was very clean, delivery person was great and the location of the containers was where I'd requested. However, when I set up the PODS delivery I requested two containers as I thought I'd need that much room to store my items. The movers were able to fit all my items into one POD, and when I contacted PODs to explain this I was told I will need to pay for the month of storing items in the POD I did not use. I was expecting to pay for the drop off and pick up of the container, however would not expect to pay for an empty container that will be re-used by someone else, therefore PODs will receive multiple payments for a service that only one person is actually utilizing. I was informed by the customer service person this is in the contract that I signed and there was no one else I could speak with, nor could they escalate my complaint to address this with a manager or supervisor. I did sign a contract that I was asked to sign off on the day before my PODs were delivered, after I went over everything with the salesperson on the phone, who was eager to sign me into a 3 month storage contract for a better rate, and she told me I needed to give my credit card information so they could charge me prior to delivery of my PODs. I told the person on the phone I wanted to take my account off auto pay while I work out this dispute with PODS, as they already have first months payment for two PODS, and I was told there is no other payment option. I'm now stuck in a contract with a company I don't want to work with, however as my items are already in the POD and the work was already completed I don't have another choice. I will not recommend PODs or use the company again.
