PODS® Reviews
Terrific drivers - delivery and pick up exceptional skill in handling and maneuvering the POD. Even saved the rose bush which we thought might get crushed! On time; gave advanced notice of window of arrival, and driver called with anticipated eta given local, current traffic. Just a painless experience. PODS is the best. Recommendations for loaders was exceptional and Conquistador reviewed elsewhere.
DO NOT USE PODS. Poor customer service, and my pod was three days late with the excuse EACH day being "the truck broke down." Separate trucks. Different type of truck used for each transit. Do they only have ONE truck at each facility?! Completely unacceptable to just give up each day and not just switch trucks. Called customer service about 3 times a day and they said on multiple occasions, the driver would call me right away and let me know the situation. I never received any calls. I was completely shocked at how they were treating me. Luckily I had moved into a furnished home, and thought ahead and packed enough clothes with me. Otherwise, like most other customers who don't move to furnished homes, I would have needed a hotel for 3 nights and needed to buy new clothes. I read from other reviews that it is a struggle to get compensated, reimbursed, or refunded for ANYTHING from PODS. We'll see what they tell me. I didn't do my extensive research, like I should have. I somehow came across a site that had 5 star ratings and stellar reviews from everyone for PODS. Must have all been fake. Please read their Facebook reviews and comments on their page. That's where all the real stuff is.
Great customer service and great follow up. I have no doubt that they will follow through on the final delivery of my property. I rwould recommend PODS and use them again. (But I hope not to be moving again any time soon.) My last move was done with a rental truck and non-professional labor. The difference in cost and my time was well worth spending a few hundred more dollars.
Generally happy with PODS, good option for secure storage and potential long distance move. PODS drivers were polite, careful and considerate. Just frustrating to have to work with Corporate office in Florida and not the local CA franchise. Needed later hour pickup but was denied by PODs - then they did arrive several hours after the scheduled pick up time, but didn't bother to tell me of the additional timing. Wasted opportunity to pack more, and clear breakdown in customer service. Need to access PODS now at their site to finish packing up. Also, PODS has East Coast hours and is actually closed on Sundays - can't access PODS onsite on Sundays! Unheard of for a relocation company servicing paying clients who have to work on weekdays...
To good: The price was reasonable. The bad: Several complaints. First I did not know that needed a city permit to have the PODs left in the street. The first time I heard about it was when the driver arrived at my door. I should have known in advance. Caused me to delay my move by a day. Doesn't sound like much but when your family and children have a place to stay/sleep/sit that is significant. Second was Valerie the office person at the local austin office. Initially she was very condescending and argumentative. I felt I had a right to be upset that I was not told of the needed permits. Later she was better to work with but I felt like I had to walk on egg shells with her. I probably will never use PODs again.
All of my stuff arrived a couple of days late, but in good shape. The container was clean and well-built. I chose PODs because they had the largest container that would fit everything, including a king sized bed. I found their price to be about the same as all of their competitors. If I had to do it all over again, I'd probably not have had them drop the POD off and pick it up. Living in older neighborhoods with small driveways and narrow streets isn't ideal for their service. Neither time were they able to accommodate the location where I wanted it to be dropped off at, due to circumstances outside of their control. However, both location I used were friendly. My only negative was the customer service by phone. You can't call your local PODs location, you have to use their automated service somewhere in Southeast Asia. Wait times are long, and the service is hit and miss.
They delivered later than expected and did not really call to warn us. POD was finally on the ground after the allotted three hour window; fortunately, the moving help was also late, so it worked out. Also, they loaded the unit on the truck backwards and had to turn it around, but did so without complaining (and it was interesting to watch the maneuvering). Now awaiting pick-up ... not time critical as long as it happens.
The POD was 4 hours late. They never called to tell me it was going to be delayed. I had to call 4 times and got 4 different answers. I also paid for same day drop off and pick up and they never came back to pick up the POD until 2 days later! They were not helpful at all. While they were great to work with and on time in NYC, they were terrible in Boston. I would not recommend them ever again.
