I had a mixed experience working with PODS. I didn't find it as streamlined as they made it seem. We had a big problem where they cancelled our move in the middle because I hadn't signed one document. Fair enough but they send dozens of emails asking for confirmation of different things, which I always did promptly. In the middle of the confusion of moving, I missed one document and they cancelled the move. When I called, they were unable to stay with the original date and were quite rude. The PODS system is good because it offers flexibility but I don't think I would use them again after this experience.
The cost was reasonable but they did not supply the items they indicated when the order was placed. When they delivered the POD, there were no blankets, ropes, or combination lock, and the driver had not of therse items. This was contrarry to what I was told when I placed the order. The driver did go and return with blankets but I had to make a last minute trip to have ropes and the combination lock available when the loaders arrived the next morning.
I found the PODS service quite reasonably priced although they do have some flaws in their scheduling system. When a customer requests something they should receive what they desire. I requested two 16 foot PODS to be delivered on the same day. They waited until the day prior to claim they had a scheduling error and had to split up the delivery over two days. This created undue hardship and forced us to change our move out timeline and an added expense of paying for movers one day.
PODS was great and every time I called which was quite often, everyone was wonderful. The only complaint I have is being misguided in the beginning about what size POD I needed to get. I was very specific about the size and amount of furniture to be moved and told 1 16 ft container would be enough. We ended up having to get 2 more.
The California group was excellent and move was easy with excellent scheduling. Unfortunately Round Rock, TX on the receiving end was horrible. The shipment was a week late trying to schedule drop off to our home was a week later with the availability. Then pickup of the empty POD was even worse. The container had to sit in my driveway for 13 days as that was the earliest pickup available when the POD finally arrived in TX. Not only that but after being told twice when I called in that I wouldn’t be charged for another month of storage. But of course I was even being a week late arriving and two weeks in my driveway??? Really charge me rental for being in my driveway. When I called the supervisor who should have been able to review prior calls assuring me of no extra charge would not refund the $259.00 month’s rental/storage. POD’s seems to have a racket going on. I would never recommend the location in Round Rock, Texas. Horrible customer relations.
