after the initial foul up with what time the post would arrive it went smoothly. The first person we talked to on the phone about the confusion could really not cared about the situation and put us on hold for 23 minutes, never came back. the second person who answered the phone did a wonderful job getting it straight.
Use PODS to move from Orlando to Chicago - that segment went fairly smooth, except they initially didn't honor the discount I was promised for storage in Chicago area (finally did, but only after several calls to customer service/complaint resolution). When I wanted the PODS moved to Michigan, they quoted a price that was HIGHER than the much longer move from Florida. Ended up using a rental truck for a fraction of what PODS wanted to charge us. Also, it was apparent that the PODS experienced a very rough ride enroute (or at the warehouse). You have to pack REALLY carefully if you want to avoid damage.
Delivered POD in the opposite orientation from the order and driver refused to correct it, so I had to call corporate to get them to correct it. Second driver said he was unfamiliar with the address and if he couldn't find the address, he would just take it to the warehouse. When I tried to schedule the final pickup, I could not schedule it for a later pick up window (like after 3:00 p.m.)
Overall operator service and condition of the Pod itself was great. Scheduling drop off and pick up was a nightmare. They don't call you until after 6:00pm the night prior to your pod drop off to tell you the 3-hour window during which they might come. It makes it impossible to hire movers for the same day on either end of the move, so you often end up spending extra money for permit costs, mover cancellation fees, parking, etc. Your drop off window could be anywhere from 7:00am-5:00pm. It also means that in most cases your stuff sits in your pod on the street overnight available to anyone with bolt cutters. If you are like me, that freaks you out and leads to an uneasy night of sleep. If they could better organize their scheduling system I would recommend, but without this being fixed, it's not worth the high cost. Not a premium product. I would not use them again.
A very good choice. Reasonable price and I appreciated the PODS customer service communication with me before arrival and after retrieval of the container. I wanted a 12' container instead of a 16' container, but PODS wouldn't rent one to me for a long-distance move. The container appeared to be clean and in excellent shape.
The actual process of receiving & picking up the PODS was great, but I reserved a 7' container based on their recommendation of how much stuff I had. I wanted the 12' which would've been a perfect size, but was informed it was only for local moves. I should've gotten the 16' so that I could fit all of my belongings, but had to throw/give a lot of things away.
This was our first experience and there have been some challenges with scheduling deliveries and pick-ups. Not the smoothest experience and certainly, not what PODS advertises their service to be. We aren't the happiest PODs customers, to say the least. We are still waiting on them to deliver to our final destination, but we already know we won't use them again.
