PODS® Reviews
I ordered a street facing POD. They delivered it backwards. I bought it to the driver's attention and he said there was nothing he could do about it. I called the office so they could fix the issue and the same driver came out and moved the POD to face the street. There were a couple of hours from the time of delivery to the time they were able to re-install the POD in the right direction.
On the day of drop off, I was given a window of 12:45-3:45pm. At 6pm I had to call the company to find out where my POD was. Since I had hired people to load it, everything hinged on getting the POD on the date I had contracted for. The POD finally showed up at 7:30pm. And, it was facing the wrong direction. Not a big deal at this house, but it would be a big deal at the new house. On their website, the 16 ft POD is what they recommended for moving a 3 bedroom house. I wasn’t moving furniture out of 2 of my bedrooms, I didn’t have living room furniture, so I thought I would be good. They got all of the furniture I did have into the POD, but there is a whole lot of stuff left behind that did not fit. I would have needed a second POD ($$$) or just used mover’s with a big truck.
This company is NOT a moving company at all nor is it professional. It is a "demolition" group at best , they destroyed thousands of dollars worth of family valuables or simply misplaced items never to be seen from again. They are family owned and operated yet were the completely apathetic to the destruction and miss placing of our items. They were so unorganized that they ran till 3:30 am until we asked them to stop so we could rest and, they were so overwhelmed they actually went down to local Home Depot and hired a couple of day workers off the lot with no moving experience. We had to file a police report to validate our losses so let that be compass if your contemplating using this service. They even stole out of our cooler from the refrigerator our Costco steaks we planned on cooking in our new home! This is the most careless, incompetent and outright dishonest bunch of people you will ever run across. They offered NO excuses for their damages and negligence other than "go file a claim with Hire a Helper" . You have been warned !
There was a mix-up concerning the pick-up time. We requested Tuesday 9/29/20 and was assured by the customer service rep that the containers would be picked up on that date. However, they did not show up. When I called there was no record of the change being made to have the containers picked up on 9/29/20.
When I ordered my POD, I told them lady I needed a 16'. She INSISTED that since I had a 1,500 sq ft home, I would need to add a 7' POD as well. I didn't want to, but reluctantly agreed. They assured me there would be enough room. When PODS were dropped off, the 7' POD would not fit in my driveway, so I told them to take it back. They are going to refund me the price of the POD, but not the $90 delivery fee. This is unacceptable to me for several reasons. 1) It was NEVER delivered 2) I told the lady I didn't want it, but she pushed it on me 3) I was assured they would fit in my driveway, and they didn't. All of the above is the mistake of the company (specifically the employee I was working with) therefore I deserve to NOT be charged the delivery fee.
One POD was old and stained. The other was nice and new. I guess both were OK for the purpose but would have been nice if they were both new. Also, driver ran over my neighbors lawn and garden and we had to fix the mess he left. Also 2 PODS were not big enough and had to rent another storage facility. Not their fault I guess.
It's fine, provided you understand loading and unloading is the customer's responsibility. If hiring help for the loading\unloading the delivery and pickup dates cannot be counted since there's a 4 hour window which is not provided till the day before. Pricey, but may be useful for some circumstances.
