PODS® Reviews
When I ordered my POD, I told them lady I needed a 16'. She INSISTED that since I had a 1,500 sq ft home, I would need to add a 7' POD as well. I didn't want to, but reluctantly agreed. They assured me there would be enough room. When PODS were dropped off, the 7' POD would not fit in my driveway, so I told them to take it back. They are going to refund me the price of the POD, but not the $90 delivery fee. This is unacceptable to me for several reasons. 1) It was NEVER delivered 2) I told the lady I didn't want it, but she pushed it on me 3) I was assured they would fit in my driveway, and they didn't. All of the above is the mistake of the company (specifically the employee I was working with) therefore I deserve to NOT be charged the delivery fee.
One POD was old and stained. The other was nice and new. I guess both were OK for the purpose but would have been nice if they were both new. Also, driver ran over my neighbors lawn and garden and we had to fix the mess he left. Also 2 PODS were not big enough and had to rent another storage facility. Not their fault I guess.
It's fine, provided you understand loading and unloading is the customer's responsibility. If hiring help for the loading\unloading the delivery and pickup dates cannot be counted since there's a 4 hour window which is not provided till the day before. Pricey, but may be useful for some circumstances.
Two friendly and ready-to-help young men showed up on time to load our moving POD on August 28, 2020. They proceeded to load the POD in an efficient manner, layer by layer, as recommended by PODS, using the 24 blankets and straps we provided. As the 3-hour allocated time period was reached and some loading remained, we agreed to go overtime. Our problem with the loading came during the overtime. The two young men felt rushed and the last few pieces of furniture were not properly wrapped for a long-distance move. Two pieces of furniture, the dining room table and the recliner, came out of the POD damaged. They will require extensive and costly repairs. We do not recommend Hire-A-Helper as their staff required extensive supervision and was not sufficiently well trained to do the job adequately.
For a move this distance I thought we would save money, but having done so now I think I would hire a moving company next time. It wasn't just the cost of the POD but it did not fit everything so we had to hire a U-Haul truck - 16 feet to transport the other half as we could not get a POD at the last minute.
they did a great job except with regards to communications. an email was sent with VERY incorrect initial drop off date and the customer service group evidently does NOT have a way to communicate with dispatch. so i wasted lots of time trying to get someone to chat and they were totally unhelpful. this made me anxious each time. but they did meet the dates. other than that, all was fine
