PODS® Reviews
Two friendly and ready-to-help young men showed up on time to load our moving POD on August 28, 2020. They proceeded to load the POD in an efficient manner, layer by layer, as recommended by PODS, using the 24 blankets and straps we provided. As the 3-hour allocated time period was reached and some loading remained, we agreed to go overtime. Our problem with the loading came during the overtime. The two young men felt rushed and the last few pieces of furniture were not properly wrapped for a long-distance move. Two pieces of furniture, the dining room table and the recliner, came out of the POD damaged. They will require extensive and costly repairs. We do not recommend Hire-A-Helper as their staff required extensive supervision and was not sufficiently well trained to do the job adequately.
For a move this distance I thought we would save money, but having done so now I think I would hire a moving company next time. It wasn't just the cost of the POD but it did not fit everything so we had to hire a U-Haul truck - 16 feet to transport the other half as we could not get a POD at the last minute.
they did a great job except with regards to communications. an email was sent with VERY incorrect initial drop off date and the customer service group evidently does NOT have a way to communicate with dispatch. so i wasted lots of time trying to get someone to chat and they were totally unhelpful. this made me anxious each time. but they did meet the dates. other than that, all was fine
The drop off driver was excellent and worked with me to figure out placement on a congested Philly street. However, I am still waiting for a pick up. The driver that was supposed to come on September 9th would not give me the same service as the drop off driver, and left. He said "I'm not losing my job over this" and drove away. It was clear that he was not sure of his maneuvering skills. And the storage facility that needs to pick up the POD has been nothing but rude. It's still sitting out there!
The pod storage and delivery service is great. BUT if you are moving to Minneapolis, Mn, a resident cannot get a street permit. Only approved businesses. Pods is on the list, but Pods will not get one for you in Minneapolis. Even if you offer to pay. So if you don't have a driveway, be prepared for problems.
