PODS® Reviews
Customer service on the initial call was great, but the local PODS did not deliver what was promised. I received one delivery window online, a second delivery window by email. Then the day of delivery the local PODS called and completely changed the delivery time and was unable to pick up the POD same day as promised.
I would have given them 5 stars, but I kept getting emails saying "as I requested" my schedule was changed-but I did not request the changes they were making. They messed up my delivery schedule and offered no option or compensation for the inconvenience. We were not on a tight timeline so we were able to wait 4 days for our container, but it was annoying they did not provide clearer communication or concern for the inconvenience caused.
PODS was very helpful in identifying our needs and walking us through how to accomplish what we needed to be done. The automatic reminders and status updates were helpful. The customer service reps were patient and understanding with all the changes that we had to keep making for our two PODS arrangements. The only glitch was that a second lock wasn't delivered with the second POD but we weren't charged for it either.
Our driver Ian was great! He called ahead to let us know he was close and was able to get a perfect parking spot on a busy Brooklyn thoroughfare. Right in front of our service entrance. He sat by the lift gate the whole time guarding the truck while our movers loaded the truck for three hours. He gave us the keys to the lock at the end. Great service from the PODS team from the reservation agent as well. I highly recommend PODS.
I ordered a street facing POD. They delivered it backwards. I bought it to the driver's attention and he said there was nothing he could do about it. I called the office so they could fix the issue and the same driver came out and moved the POD to face the street. There were a couple of hours from the time of delivery to the time they were able to re-install the POD in the right direction.
On the day of drop off, I was given a window of 12:45-3:45pm. At 6pm I had to call the company to find out where my POD was. Since I had hired people to load it, everything hinged on getting the POD on the date I had contracted for. The POD finally showed up at 7:30pm. And, it was facing the wrong direction. Not a big deal at this house, but it would be a big deal at the new house. On their website, the 16 ft POD is what they recommended for moving a 3 bedroom house. I wasn’t moving furniture out of 2 of my bedrooms, I didn’t have living room furniture, so I thought I would be good. They got all of the furniture I did have into the POD, but there is a whole lot of stuff left behind that did not fit. I would have needed a second POD ($$$) or just used mover’s with a big truck.
This company is NOT a moving company at all nor is it professional. It is a "demolition" group at best , they destroyed thousands of dollars worth of family valuables or simply misplaced items never to be seen from again. They are family owned and operated yet were the completely apathetic to the destruction and miss placing of our items. They were so unorganized that they ran till 3:30 am until we asked them to stop so we could rest and, they were so overwhelmed they actually went down to local Home Depot and hired a couple of day workers off the lot with no moving experience. We had to file a police report to validate our losses so let that be compass if your contemplating using this service. They even stole out of our cooler from the refrigerator our Costco steaks we planned on cooking in our new home! This is the most careless, incompetent and outright dishonest bunch of people you will ever run across. They offered NO excuses for their damages and negligence other than "go file a claim with Hire a Helper" . You have been warned !
