PODS was the perfect solution for us as we sold our condo before we purchased a new property & needed to store our “stuff” until we found a new place. We used the large 16’ container - it was clean & just the right size for us. They were easy to arrange & kept me informed - drop off & pickup were on time as scheduled - I would definitely use them again.
PODS has great customer support. The POD was delivered on time, was clean. It is being picked up tomorrow, so I have yet to experience the second delivery. I called them a few times with questions and the phone is answered with short wait times. Everyone is helpful and cheerful. I switched from 1800PACKRAT when I could not get quick responses to my concerns. Hold times were up to an hour. The agents were all very nice. Hard for agents to get any timely info from their facilities regarding deliveries in tight quarters and the permit process. I was concerned about how much room they needed to pickup and deliver vs PODS.
Driver refused to leave POD where requested. Complex manager and maintenance men told Wesley it was fine. He refused because it would block parking spots. It was my spot and my neighbors - and we both told him we moved our cars. The manager offered him a spot around the corner where they put dumpsters a couple of times a year for tenants to dump stuff. He refused - it's painted red - so the tenants don't park there. He would only park it by the office, so movers took 5 hours using a small pickup and driving back and forth. It was too far to carry boxes and furniture. The whole mess cost an additional $550 in labor due to this driver's attitude. His manager "backed him up." We checked with other driver's and people who worked for PODS and all of them said he could have left it at the first location. I used PODS to move from ME to CA and it was no problem. I am not the first or only person who used PODS at The Orchard and it has never been an issue. I will not recommend or use PODS again. If anything, I'm worried about the delivery of the 16' and the 7' used. When the manager of 20 properties says it's OK to drop it where we wanted, the driver should be able to do so. It was not blocking the driveway any more -than a U-Haul, and in fact - it takes up much less space than a rental truck. It was only going to be there for 24 hours, so was not an inconvenience to anyone except me, my helpers, and the movers.
I stored some of my things in the POD in what I was told would be a climate controlled warehouse. The things that were there for three months suffered in contrast to things put in the POD two weeks ago. The damage appears not to be permanent, but I was expecting no damage. Other than that, I found PODs easy to work with and schedule, and their communications are beyond thorough. The pickups and deliveries always occurred exactly as scheduled.
The POD people were great, the mouse problem was a big one. I had put bags of chocolate from my bed and breakfast in a box. The sealed bags were fine but the nugget in wrappers were eaten along with book spines and paper lanterns from Vietnam. The POD was stored for 10 months so the damage was gross. All clothes have to be cleaned, You can imagine our dismay. Moved favorite things from a 4100 sqf bed and breakfast to a 800 sqf. aDU.
Called to rent a POD so sister could put her furniture and appliances in storage until her move at the end of September. I chose PODS after seeing commercials on TV. Customer Service during booking was a breeze. Received POD day and time scheduled. We filled the POD and it was removed on scheduled date. Container was clean when it was received. If needed, I would use and recommend PODS storage again.
The POD delivery was a day late but they were very communicative about their truck breakdown. Arrived promptly and gave some recommendations about packing the POD. We stored it for 6 weeks and when I called to arrange for delivery customer service was very helpful, recommending I book pick up of the empty pod right away because of the schedule filling up. The online booking and payment were also very easy. Delivery of the POD at the new house went smoothly as well. Would definitely use this service again if needed. We worked with the team in Easton/Bethlehem Pa.
The original delivery date from Conway, SC could not happen d/t their truck breaking down. I inquired what their Plan B or contingency plan was since they are a global company. They had none. I was told to find another container company and besides that there were 100 people who were delayed. I contacted the corporate officers in Tampa (found them on D&B) and within an hour they had the 2 16' PODS delivered from another closeby city. After that it went smoothly with the drop off drive from Wilmington, NC named John. He was excellent. The pick up driver from Conway, he was also excellent. The customer service people on the phone and the manager at the Conway, SC location, not so much.
Only issue was we measured the space in our driveway according to their online specs only to find out it wouldn't fit due to the hoses on the side of the device to set the POD down. They took our POD away and we had to scramble to reschedule. Delivery guy says this happens daily. Wouldn't it be great customer service to just have someone come out before the delivery date and check the space to make sure it will work?? Save everyone a lot of hassle.
