PODS® Reviews
A bit expensive for a cross country move, but worth it and still less that a moving company. The whole process was helpful and thoughtful. They walked you through the process “gently” knowing how difficult a move can be. Kept my goods in storage for approx 6 months and everything came out the same way it went in. Truck drivers and delivery crew were great. What an amazing system. And you can get into your PODS containers with just a heads up phone call for them to pull out you pod. You supply your lock and you keep the keys. Would definitely recommend them and would call them again if the need to move arose. Used 2 16ft PODS
Had a difficulty with the final destination of the POD and a misunderstanding with the HOA of the new residence. Apparently PODs requires 2 reserved spots and the residence HOA had a tizzy fit demanding PODS move it to only one spot, which PODS wasn't able to move it due to being so busy and scheduled out. It was a clusterf...and of course as customer I get the brunt of it. Not very happy ending.
I've had an amazing experience with PODS. I think we can become so accustom to bad customer service or difficult transactions when dealing with large companies (particularly large moving companies), but I have had nothing but awesome interactions with the PODS team and the dropoff/pickup was so easy!
PODs delivered and picked up on both ends of my move within 24 hours. However, on both ends I paid $100 (total $200) to receive "AM, first delivery of the day service'" and both times my POD was delivered after noon. I counted on a mid-morning delivery each time for hiring my movers to pack and unpack me. I had to reschedule both moving companies at the last minute upon receiving PODs delivery windows the night before delivery. Fortunately, the movers I hired through Hire-a-Helper were flexible and accommodating.
PODS was a great way for me to go. Customer service was amazing! Within about 20 minutes, Steve had explained (in detail) the process and all the steps to take, cost broken down and all signed up. The unit was very nice and clean. The company is extremely organized and great to work with. Also, their pricing was very attractive. So, absolutely PODS is the way to go ... they take care of you!
Showed up 45 minutes late, took over an hour lunch break, but finally completed the job. As a team, they did not seem to have the expertise I expected....or maybe it was a rough Saturday night (the move was Sunday). In fairness, this company was selected by Hireahelper customer service when the selected company was unavailable....so it was arranged on short notice.
PODS was unable to deliver on the day I requested and they originally agreed to. I understand that things happen and it was really no big deal, but I wish they could have informed me before 6:00 PM on the evening before. Other than that, I have no complaints. The deliverly and pickup drivers know their job and do it well.
I love PODS... I think it is one of the most well-run companies out there. My experience in the Bay Area was flawless... and this is a very complicated place for a move. While the national staff is always helpful, I did find the operations in the Denver, Colorado area not as tight as the Bay Area. Communication was not as tight as my previous experience and it was very difficult to find dates that worked for me. I understand the Denver, Colorado location is experiencing a huge volume of PODS activity at the moment, but I am surprised they have not been able to scale their staff. Upon a visit to this location to get some items before our delivery, the staff seemed very limited. Everyone was friendly and respectful, but they seemed like they were running at max capacity. PODS, it's time to get more people at your Denver/Aurora location. They are great people and you're a great company... your market has grown here and you need to respond. I'd use PODS again because I love them and I hope they can make the experience even better. Thank you!
So far, I'm really appreciating the POD that I got for my cross-country move. Turns out my kitchen remodel is going slower than hoped. It was a relief to know I wasn't racing a moving truck or dealing with moving things two times. The gal who dropped my POD off in Silver Spring, MD, was excellent. Got it right tight against the curb. The gal in MN was a little less awesome, but she said she was new. I'll be opening the POD today. So far, so good!
The container was amazing and much better than the uhaul uboxes I used before. I am thrilled with the service overall however the storage at their warehouse was really expensive and access to the container was only a few hours after n Saturdays which makes it super challenging to do anything while working a normal 40 hour week. Overall great, but I wish it was a little more affordable to storage and better access hours.
We choose POD as a last minute decision because of contractor delays at the house we were moving into and the moving company we hired could not store our belongings. Also, when we chose a POD Container, we under estimated the size and had to order another one at the last minute. It was delivered and the first one taken away the same day and the second POD was picked up when scheduled. It actually was rather close to the date we had to be out of the house and it was nerve wracking, but it all worked out well. I have to say the containers were both clean, and the drivers were very polite and respectful of our property, everything we ordered to be included, such as the blankets and pad locks were included. Customer service during booking was very helpful when scheduling the pod. Although, if you have a lack of communication with your significant other, and you do not know when the pod is to be delivered, there is no way they can tell you or give you an idea of when the pod will be delivered, or contact the driver to find out. It would have been nice, but, it all worked out fine. I hope to never move again, so not I hope that I never have to use them again!
John and Andre did a fantastic job! They came a day early when we requested it of them and brought all of the tools necessary to make the move happen for us. They never stopped for a break and took great care to secure our important items using packing blankets and straps. We will definitely be calling them the next time we need to have something moved.
PODS was great in the beginning but then I needed another POD to finish my move and they made the experience EXCRUCIATING. Customer Service Rep (Ben) next morning (after they could not tell me the night before if I would EVEN GET a 2nd POD the next day) HUNG UP on me after I asked to speak to a supervisor. I was THOROUGHLY STRESSED OUT and NOT EASY to deal with; however, people who provide customer service for a living with highly stressful situations such as a cross-country move must never hang up on a customer. Not acceptable, regardless of how much I yelled (and I did). The lovely man (Don) who picked up my completely filled POD and delivered the second POD the next day could not have been nicer or more accommodating, thus my average review (horrible telephone experience; lovely "in-person" service).
We rented 2 16 foot PODs for our 1876 sq ft house. Mind you we threw out a ton of stuff and made 18 trips to Goodwill. OK, so I learned the hard way you have to call PODs well in advance to deliver your POD. A PODs call center guy initially told me the PODs would be moved to San Diego shortly after they took the full pod away. Not true. So when I found a house to rent and called, the PODs were still in San Jose. That meant would couldn't get the 1st POD for 10 days. We thought the PODs were already in San Diego. My wife went nuclear on me.
