Shame on Budget for utilizing this sham of a company as reputable day laborers/ movers

I booked my Budget Cargo Van about 1.5 months ahead of time and received a price of $700 for my van. When coming back to check again to adjust my pickup date from Friday to Thursday, the rate was drastically decreased. While I was ecstatic about the savings, I was quite confused how this could be. Additionally, if you rent a cargo van, please note that you may need to purchase their insurance. Due to the nature of this van being classified as Commercial and the pounds, my insurance would only cover liability and Budget requires there by comprehensive coverage. Good thing I received the savings I mentioned because I had to pay $150 for that insurance. I would like to shout out Mason at the Craighhead location in Charlotte. Needless to say, I was very upset about the additional insurance charge I had to pay. He had no reason to be kind to me and yet he was. He was empathetic and understanding and defused the situation better than any I have ever seen. I really appreciate him and his kindness. The van was quite banged up and the radio was operational, but the move went off without a hitch and return was a breeze. Not sure I will rent with them again as there were several gothchas, but this move did work out.

Truck had no bluetooth. Badly needed an alignment. Really loud on the highway at speeds of 50 mph or above. Sometimes I couldn't hear the navigation on my phone. Had to wear my headphones so I could hear. Weekend after hours drop off in Elston Ave in Chicago was messy. Drop off lot was full and people had to drop off and park on the street. Instructions weren't clear.

I drove my 26 foot rental over a 1,000 miles without any incidents.

Less than 24hrs prior to the pick up time, we were told they would not have a truck available for us.

We rented a 12 foot truck from Maggie Valley and returned it to Wilmington. Everyone was easy to work with.

We had a reservation for a 16FT truck and on our way to pick up our truck, we got a call saying they no longer had this truck available. They could only provide us with a 12FT truck as a solve. They did not apologize for the inconvenience, nor did they give us any sort of discount.

Instead of picking up truck 10 minutes away, I got a call an hour before pick up time that informed me that I needed to pick up the truck 70 miles away in LA rush hour. Instead of loading the truck at 9:30 am , I was loading the truck at 1:30 pm, alone. Friends who were to spend the morning helping me had to go to work. Also the engine light was constantly on. I was told to ignore it. The additional cost of a taxi to pick up the truck was $150

I've rented from Budget before and always appreciate their competitive prices and how smoothly the trucks drive.

Would never use the Eatontown Budget again. When I arrived to pick up the truck they said, "oh, we tried to call, we didn't get the truck there so you have to go to our other location 17 miles away". They did ultimately get the truck there 2 hours later. Upon return, their office was closed (were suppose to be open) so we left keys in drop box. Days later I received calls from Budget Loss prevention asking why I haven't returned the truck. They guy at Budget Eatontown said , "oh I can't access the system and the owner is out" I am still waiting for them to get their act together and close out my rental and provide a final bill

My experience was good with Budget was good. The truck worked out well and everyone I talked to was professional. My only thought was that the truck was a little run down and could use a steering wheel alignment.

We were supposed to have a 16 FT truck at 11:30. We did not. When we arrived at the Palm Harbor location we were told that someone should have contacted us to offer a different location for the pick-up. Nobody did. The guy at the desk highlighted a number to call to make these arrangements myself. He was rude, smug, and condescending If I ever rent from Budget again it will not be this location. After half an hour on the phone I was able to get a smaller truck at the New Port Richey location, but they did not have the dolly requested. I am amazed that Budget stays in business considering how messed up the logistics of their fleet has become.

Make sure you check the truck and know your insurance they ask a lot of questions.

As a moving company, Budget was really good. Truck was ready and pick up was smooth. HOWEVER, what gets them the rating is the actual condition of the truck. The brakes likely need to be replaced or some other front end work, there is a horrific, violent shimmy when you try to brake, especially if you're going over 40, and that same shimmy is present if you're going over 60. In short, this truck is an accident waiting to happen.

Unfortunately all of the 16' and similar size trucks had been rented from the rental companies before we could schedule. We snagged one of the few 12' trucks left and made some compromises. It worked fine and had no problems except limited cab room meant reclining the seats was far too limited and just wish they would ditch the low rear step and install an 8' ramp.

There were huge problems in picking up my truck, including a change of pickup location and in rental fees. By the time I had it all sorted out and arrived with the truck, the helpers I hired had already been on-site for a half-hour.

The Budget staff were GREAT. They are kind, professional, and accommodating. After hours dropoff is available and simple. The inside of the truck was clean and stench-free. The pricing was great. I would book with Budget again.

1 week before my scheduled move Budget cancelled, with no explanation. I called and found out that corporate agreements with UPS trump private customers. Bad form, Budget!

I rented a 16 ft truck with a full-on dolly for my car. When I arrived at their office the truck was ready. I asked for help from a lot worker to guide my car onto the dolly and they refused. Then they said they would call another worker to help. I waited an hour and the desk person said she 'forgot to tell me' that nobody would help. I ended up spending $147 for 5 minutes of a tow truck driver's time to load my car and get out of there. The truck got surprisingly good gas mileage and I quickly got used to handling the truck and trailer. 1300 miles later, I returned the truck to courteous workers at my destination without incident. It wasn't until I drove my own car (after 5 days of driving the truck) that I realized just how badly worn the brakes on that truck were.

I had an 8:30 am reservation. despite the office hours being listed as 7:30 am-6:00 pm---no one showed up until 9:20. I rented a 12 foot box truck. One truck would not start, the other one had a flat tire. Had to take 16 foot truck. First one would not start....the 4th and final truck DID start...but worse gas mileage...larger truck. Will never rent from them again.

Affordable compared to U-Haul

My rental pick-up was easy enough, but the guy forgot to include the dolly and moving pads I pre-paid for.

I was fortunate to receive the last truck in a very large radius. Budget reps on both ends phenomenal even though dealing with all the hardship and chaos from the storm

Had a flat tire with a broken stud and was stranded in Sturgis South Dakota on the side of the highway. When we called budget roadside assistance for help they sent out a company specializing in semi-truck repairs even though we had a moving truck + tow trailer. Not only were they not able to do a complete fix (They fixed the flat after 5 hours, but did not fix the stud) but the contractor, who budget sent to fix the stud, did not arrive for another 26 hours! Their roadside assistance, which is $140, is incoherent and a complete waste of money. I will never be going with budget again.

When I got there, the store was closed and the truck was there but I had no way of getting the keys, they said it was probably because of the recent hurricane, and rescheduled me for a different place, but it was a bit of a pain - I only moved a dining room set, not a whole home

I requested a cargo van. Nothing larger would work where we had to go and unload. I paid for it and got email reminders I was all set. THEN, THERE WERE NO CARGO VANS AVAILABLE IN MY AREA. I had to cancel the van and go to U-HAUL THE SAME MORNING OF THE MOVE. I was on a time constraint because I was having movers meet us at the destination to do the unloading. VERY FRUSTRATING. NEVER USING BUDGET AGAIN!!!!!

The online calculator was perfect for determining the size truck I needed! It was easy to maneuver and easy to pick up and return.

We rented a Budget truck in Lakewood NJ. Jerry ( I think) was the nicest guy. He went above and beyond to make sure we had the right size truck and provided great customer service. Would highly recommend his rental company.
