After pushing our move out because they couldn't get containers dropped off when we would have liked, we were up against some hard deadlines. The containers were scheduled to be picked up on Tuesday and we intended to depart on Wednesday. However, after waiting around most of the day, on late Tuesday, I got a vague text message that didn't say who it was from saying something about my pickup being delayed and being rescheduled "as soon as possible". I called customer service and after an hour and a half on hold, they told me that one container had been skipped, but the other two were still being picked up, and that our second window went until 10:45 pm. We had been up since 4 am, but I stayed up waiting for a call that never came, because I didn't want them to say I didn't respond. The next day, I spent another hour on hold to find out that we had been rescheduled for FRIDAY. Apparently, it is not a problem for them to reschedule us for a full three days after our reserved date with no concessions whatsoever. Finally, when Friday arrived, the first driver called an hour before he arrived, but the second driver didn't call at all and ended up arriving while the first driver was still loading, which caused a huge mess trying to move cars around, not to mention the traffic backup on our street. It has all been a massive nightmare and I do not recommend them at all.
Working with Pack Rat has been really great I like the barn door-style container. When my dad moved, he used PODS and the rollup-style was a bit problematic. However, PODS can fit anywhere, Pack Rat not so much so that has become a challenge at both my original and new locations. Pros and Cons to both, but either way, Pack Rat worked and the team was accommodating to my needs which I greatly appreciate.
I've used packrat containers in the past, why I didn't hesitate as a return customer. I like their system, it's a very efficient way to move your belongings local or long distance and for storage till you need your stuff back. Their units have the barn door style doors which allow for more room for packing over head, a plus.
I had to sweep out the container. I found a middle school German exam and broken plastic shards, beads, and trash. I did receive good service from Shonda when I called to provide additional information concerning my move. I may use this company again. The size of container worked well. The delivery person, Brent was polite and helpful. Just who I needed to work with during this time of loss.
Will never use pack rat again. Tacked an additional $1000 in charges on to what we agreed upon, moved the delivery date twice, without telling me or the movers that were coming to unload it, and tried to keep the empty POD at our house for an additional 2 weeks because them moving the initial delivery date had messed things up. Do not use Pack Rat. We used POD a year ago and I wish we had again. They were extremely professional and easy to work with, which cannot be said of Pack Rat. After I paid for my order Pack Rat was extremely difficult to reach and the person I had been emailing about setting up the order stopped responding as soon as I had paid.
The owner contacted me the day before to confirm our appt. The moving crew showed up on time. They went beyond my expectation when they performed the job. They are hard working, strong, and efficient. They packed the POD wall to wall within the 2 hr time frame. Give this company a chance and you won’t be disappointed. Thank you Lewis Moving Co.
Although they tried to fit everything in the container, I had to leave stuff behind. The doors didn't close right, so PackRat had to cut off my locks and reengage the doors properly. It shouldn't have been able to close if it wasn't properly latched. When the container was emptied, the guys on the other end did not think highly of the way things were loaded, causing some minor damage and difficulty unloading.
Went with PackRat because of the cost. Used 2 16’ containers, and could have used an additional 8’, but it cost just as much as a 16’. Ended up renting a U-Haul trailer. Wait times for the call center could definitely be improved. Best hold time was 35mins the worst was 2hr 46mins. Cost increased $250 from the original quote due to gas prices. Check the fine print. I need to see how delivery works, but I’d use them again.
We ordered 2 containers for our move across the country. The first container looks kind of crappy (can see rust everywhere and it's old). I was surprised that they didn't give a better container seeing that we are moving across the country, Anyway, we got it loaded and soon it was on its way. When it arrived in our new home in New Jersey, we started unloading and then only did we noticed that there were actually 2 holes in the container. We did not expect or see that when we were loading it - who expects to see holes in moving containers! We were shocked and disappointed that they give such crappy equipment to customers who paid thousands of dollars to use their containers, transport and storage to move their personal belongings across the country. Even the transporter that came to pick up the empty container the next day was shocked to see the holes and the container in such poor condition. You would think that a big company like this would have people inspect the containers before offering it to their customers when these containers are supposed to store valuable personal belongings of the customers who paid thousands of dollars for them. Very disappointing and obviously no quality standard established at all when it comes to their equipment. The second container was fine. I still give them 4 stars because the customer service was decent and the transporters on both ends did an excellent job in loading and unloading the containers.
My complaint with Pack Rat is that there are many hidden cost that are charged and you are not told about them. The rental for the container, it appears in the final contract itemized, but we were told it was included. Gas charge also in the contract but you are not told anything about fuel cost not included in the overall quote. In short they tell you on the phone a bunch of BS. Our moving coordinator assured us that every thing is included. We ended up spending nearly $800 more than the original quote and the charges are spread out over the move beginning to end so you are already in the middle of it when they tell you to read the fine print
