Initially 1800PackRat was very easy to get set up and deliver the empty container to my house. Once I loaded my container and it was picked up was when the problems arose. I paid $700 extra for expedited shipping for my container to arrive Dec. 8th. I received an email stating that the container would not be arriving on Dec. 8th but that it would arrive on Dec. 13th. I called the only number listed and waited forever to speak to an agent. The agent only said that they emailed dispatch and hadn't heard back from them about my container arriving. He did not know where it was or when it would arrive. He then said it would most likely be delivered tomorrow. Tomorrow came but the container did NOT. Once again, nobody emailed or called me to give me any information. I called everyday around noon and was given the same information, "it will arrive tomorrow." I finally spoke with a customer service rep that promised she would email and call me that evening after she figured out what was going on. She did call me back and was extremely helpful. She assured me it would be delivered that Thursday. It was delivered on Thursday and everything was in good shape. The delivery driver was very polite and helpful. I understand that a long distance drive can have unforeseen issues pop up but most of my angst could have been relieved if 1800PackRat would have provided more information and had better customer service from the beginning of the issues. They did refund my $700 and I am happy about that. Overall, I DO NOT recommend 1-800-Pack-Rat to anyone. Use another company.
Somehow they lost track of our pod and every time we called, they gave a different response as to what happened or where it was. We still don't know what happened, but after many calls and bad reviews on their FB page, we finally received it. I would NEVER use them again. Do not believe how much space they say it fits. It doesn't.
I had a last minute long distance move so I only booked 48 hours in advance which made a great first impression. They arrived early and got to work right away. These guys worked lighting fast. I was impressed. Not all my items were boxed and ready to go but they were understanding and diligent. Never saw them hit a wall. Never saw any of my things fall. And I had all kinds of things in my apartment that they just hopped over with their nimble feet. All looked very well packed and secured in my bin. I highly recommend this crew! Thank you for making my last minute move less of a headache.
The Mt. Prospect location was absolutely wonderful. The drivers were kind and courteous and let us know when our belongings would be picked up and delivered. The 800 Pack Rat on the other hand was a mixed up crew of wrong and inaccurate information. I had to keep on top of them at all times, even providing them with the container numbers and correct delivery dates/times. Home office and the actual delivery and storage end does not communicate. Packing and moving your own belongings is definitely a much harder option, but we had to store our stuff and renting containers was the only way to do it.
The customer service started out really good but then I received a text last night that our scheduled pickup/delivery for today has been rescheduled to the following day. This put us in a complete bind and cost us $300 more as we had to stay in the airbnb another night. There was no option to resolve it and have the containers moved on the date promised.
Pods are not stored in climate controlled area. Personnel are horribly uninformed about company policies, if you can get anyone on the phone. Two employees never got back after promising to do so. Used an 8 ft and 16 ft pod. Almost the same price ($4000) to move both which made no sense. Our final Invoice was incomplete and lacked detail. 7-10 biz days for a long move that (10 days for us. SC to FL) that doesn’t come to you but has to stop at their local facility. So it took 11 days and they refused to admit they were late. This company is a mess with poorly trained employees. A little cheaper than PODS but not worth the difference. Poor experience and I tell you without hesitation to stay away.
I have to say - I have used a number of moving companies in the past- this was the worst service. They NEVER called, until 7 pm to delivery the pod, showed up at 9:30 pm at night, after numerous calls to see when it would be there. They POD was old - smashed on both sides.. with light shining in. And the pick up- THEY never even called me they just showed up?? AWFUL
Container was delievered a day late and kept pushing me off without care or concern for anyone concerned. Supervisor from the customer service team was not only rude but didn't seem to care that our lives were being displaced and the load team was also having to change their schedules losing business. Poor management and communication.
