The customer service started out really good but then I received a text last night that our scheduled pickup/delivery for today has been rescheduled to the following day. This put us in a complete bind and cost us $300 more as we had to stay in the airbnb another night. There was no option to resolve it and have the containers moved on the date promised.
Pods are not stored in climate controlled area. Personnel are horribly uninformed about company policies, if you can get anyone on the phone. Two employees never got back after promising to do so. Used an 8 ft and 16 ft pod. Almost the same price ($4000) to move both which made no sense. Our final Invoice was incomplete and lacked detail. 7-10 biz days for a long move that (10 days for us. SC to FL) that doesn’t come to you but has to stop at their local facility. So it took 11 days and they refused to admit they were late. This company is a mess with poorly trained employees. A little cheaper than PODS but not worth the difference. Poor experience and I tell you without hesitation to stay away.
I have to say - I have used a number of moving companies in the past- this was the worst service. They NEVER called, until 7 pm to delivery the pod, showed up at 9:30 pm at night, after numerous calls to see when it would be there. They POD was old - smashed on both sides.. with light shining in. And the pick up- THEY never even called me they just showed up?? AWFUL
Container was delievered a day late and kept pushing me off without care or concern for anyone concerned. Supervisor from the customer service team was not only rude but didn't seem to care that our lives were being displaced and the load team was also having to change their schedules losing business. Poor management and communication.
Pack Rat is great if you DO NOT need to ever speak to their logistics coordinators. Multiple times tried to call in and was met with an eternal hold. POD is more money, but I think they had way better customer service. Also, containers they provide are not well maintained. Ours had bad seals on the doors that made opening and closing difficult at best. In the end, PACK RAT is more affordable, but you get what you pay for.
They were cheaper than others, but the service is pretty bad. The pickup date means nothing to them. Our pickup was a day later than scheduled, and customer service had no idea when it would be. But I'd voucher for the container, it's a solid one, steel and it protects well from the elements and has great capacity
$9800 for 2 pods 1-16ft 1 8ft plus rental for 1 month for both pods approx $600. (Starts from the day they are delivered). We did not have enough room for everything, should have had 2 16ft pods. Had to get rid off a LOT of stuff (over $2K dollars worth of items) that we will now need to repurchase. they could not deliver our furniture(pods) for 2 weeks after they arrived in our state, so had to stay somewhere else. Would not use this Pod storage solution again. They are not very organized.
Moved our household goods to their storage facility for around 3 months until find house on was coast. . So comments are relating to timing etc. we requested 9/17 delivery in a.m. Containers not delivered until afternoon on 18th. One container was in pretty bad shape and old. No strapping points. Roll up door etc. locks were supposed to to be brought. They were not. For pick up it was one day later than contracted for. No explanation. No way to talk to anyone locally. Want refund for no morning delivery and for no locks. Drivers friendly but didn’t know anything about our order. And no documentation to be signed was provided. I will follow up on transportation in future .
I used Pack Rate twice this year. The first time the warehouse team did a good job in getting the storage units delivered and picked up promptly, on time. The second time they delivered the units on time but did not pick them up until over a week later. In the interim I contacted their office and was told first that I requested the empty units to be picked up on the 1st for one unit and the 9th for the second unit. This was not correct and made no sense for the 9th to be date to pick up a unit that was emptied on the 1st. The second call to the office showed that they now stated that there was no date listed to pick the empty units up. The third call showed that my account now listed the units to be picked up on the 12th. The actual request when I contacted Pack Rat to deliver and pickup the empty units was to return to get them the afternoon of the 1st after I emptied them or the 2nd. To further add salt to the wound I requested a pro-rated lease fee for the several days of the month used, but they said nope. An observation, I was concerned that I lost the keys to the locks that I used to secure the storage units; and visited the warehouse where they were stored to try the keys I had or cut the locks off and replace them before delivery. The warehouse staff was very helpful and promptly brought my units to me to try the keys. They were great. I also noted that they were swamped with trucks to be loaded, unloaded, move units around, etc. All this with apparently one broken down and one out of service forklift, and another operating forklift that was wheezing, rattling and sounding like it would stall out at any moment. I watched the operator feathering the throttle and clutch to prevent the forklift from stalling out while lifting the storage units. Note: I worked in industry and managed mobile equipment programs ..including forklifts.... for over 40 years. It was apparent that they needed a significant mobile equipment PM program evaluation and/or better/newer forklifts. I talked to several folks while waiting and it was stated they had 3 forklifts but only one was operating; but when the PM provider worked on the forklifts all repairs were not made. Lack of such program or equipment was impacting their ability to respond to customers, drivers delivering and picking up storage units. I have no tie in or benefit in any way by making the comments above. However, I hope that someone from Pack Rat follows up with the folks and forklift operators about their equipment. Another Note: Pickup of the empty units was $187 each. This was not disclosed before the pickup. Note: empty units delivered to my home to be filled cost me $25 each...I believe. Bob B.
This is a horrible company. I paid extra to guarantee a morning delivery for 2 containers to be returned to my home with my furniture in them. The first was delivered at 4:30pm after 3 calls to customer service. The second one has still not arrived 2 days later. The company said that someone on their side had entered the order as "completed" so I had to rebook the job and wait days for the rest of my possessions. Avoid at all costs!
