Our truck driver was not happy with where the unit was sitting. He had to drive on to the grass and in the process he scraped the grass. When the first driver came he actually looked over the place where we had planned on setting the unit. The second driver did not.

I can't praise these folks enough. They were upfront about my costs, showed up when they said they would, and my furniture arrived in great shape on the day they said it would. This was a cross country move and using pack rats saved me about $2500 compared to a traditional moving service. Their website was full of good information and connected me to a source for hiring helpers to unload the pod. Best moving experience I have ever had.

Website was good for checking on the reservation. Figuring out the details was easy over the phone. Pick up and drop off folks were great at their jobs and managed our difficult sloped and narrow locations without issue.

They were terrible, complete lack of communication. Containers did not arrive on day of delivery. No communication. Ended up cancelling and going with PODS.

We've used Pack Rat twice. Three yrs ago for one container that was shipped from Burnsville, MN. to The Dalles, OR. The helpers that time were from HIRE A HELPED, as well. The first phase of this current move is done. The second phase will be moving everything back into our home ( we removed everything from our first floor only. We had all our wood flooring refinished) The containers were stored for a week. I have read many horrible reviews for this company. Most of those came from people moving out of the Southern area of the country. intoOne was a move with We've used PACK RAT twice. Both times EVERYTHING was perfect. Nothing was lost, nothing broken... it was done with perfection. I'm wondering is this company is divided in to regions. Some regions might have issues. The Midwest West coast areas have run like a finely tuned watches for our two moves. By the way, our first move with RAT PACK was 2017. The start date for this work was 8/18/21

So far the experience has been great. We’re just in the first leg of a long distance move. Our 2 containers arrived when promised and we have already been contacted for our pick up date. Communication with Pack-Rat has been excellent. If the service at the end of the move is as good as it has been so far I’ll be a very happy camper!

The shipping of the pods went okay. The main problem that I had with Pack-Rat was getting the pods delivered for loading and unloading. I would get estimate arrival times and when that time would pass, I'd get another one. After five different changes, the pods finally arrived and 11:55 PM at the loading location. At least they came on the delivery date that we had set. The delivery of the pods at the unloading location was a different story. The pods were to come on Saturday. I got a text form Pack-Rat stating a truck broke down and they were re-scheduling the drop off date to Monday. Since I had hired unloading help for Monday, I had to scramble to reschedule them. I called Pack-Rat for clarification and was told that the pods would arrive between 8:00 -11:00 AM on Monday. I informed them that I had hired unloading help for Tuesday and that I had to have the pods no later than Monday evening. I was told they would be delivered Monday. On Monday, at 11:00 AM still no pods. I called them back and was told the pods would now be delivered between 1:00 - 4:30 PM. At 4:30 still no pods. I called them back and was told they would be delivered between 6:00 - 10:00 PM. I told them that I had hired an unloading crew for7:00 AM on Tuesday and needed the pods delivered Monday. I was told they WOULD be delivered on Monday. Low and behold, Monday passed and no pods were delivered. I had to cancel the unloading crew for Tuesday morning. The pods finally made it to the unloading location around 9:00 AM Tuesday. I'm now waiting for the unloaded pods to be picked up, but who knows when that will be. Will it be today, tomorrow, or this weekend? The pods are blocking our garage and parking area so we have to park on a busy road. It would be good to get the empty pods out of here. Because of the pod drop off time and date changes, at both locations, and the empty pod pick up, i WILL NEVER USE PACK-RAT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND RECOMMEND YOU DO THE SAME. DO NOT USE PACK-RAT

All in all it was a pretty poor experience. It started out with a delay dropping off our empty container for loading. Reportedly, the delay was due to a forklift being out of commission, but there were several delays after finding out it was not coming. After the schedule delays I had only one day to get the container loaded and ready which we did. That evening while at dinner I got a call from the driver saying that the container was overweight and would not be picked up. I was never told that their was a weight limit although in all honesty I should have known. Regardless, that meant I had to unpack lots of stuff from the container and move it all into a small uHaul I'd rented already. I then had to reschedule the pickup for a later date which meant I then had to reschedule the dropoff because they require 5 days to move the container from Los Angeles to Las Vegas which seems quite excessive. The container was now due to be dropped off a week later than what was originally scheduled. That meant, of course, living in a house with no refrigerator for a week. I called on the Wed before delivery on Saturday and was told the container would definitely be delivered on the scheduled day. Come that day I decided to call a few hours before it was scheduled to verify delivery time. Turns out the container had not even left California yet! Unbelievable!#%$!^# So it got rescheduled for over a week later - on a Monday - so I had to take time off work instead of on a Saturday as originally planned. Have to say that when the container was finally delivered, the driver was great! He and the others in the local office were great. Use at your own risk.

If I could give zero or fewer stars I would. Pack Rat was an epic failure as a moving choice. The best thing I can say about them was they didn’t deliver the container on the day I had contracted, and to make it worse, they stringed me along all the day the container was promised so I didn’t have a chance to make alternate arrangements. Every status call made to PackRat entailed a minimum of 45 minutes on hold. I will never recommend them and strongly advise against using them. The ultimate example of their incompetence was the following day receiving a text message advising my container was going to be delivered. I had cancelled it the previous day but they never told the delivery person. Gross incompetence at every turn. If you use PackRat, be prepared to be bitterly disappointed.

Container delivered on-time. Container was clean. Driver was courteous.

In theory it should be a good service, but for several reasons they fell well short fo expectations: because of the space the trucks need to maneuver, the containers don't really fit in many places like gated driveways. Because of this, I couldn't have the containers delivered to the final destination and instead I had to rent a U-Haul truck and hire a crew to transfer all the contents at the storage facility to then drive them home. Customer service is terrible. Hold times at their toll-free line often exceeded an hour. Containers were delivered without locks despite paying for them. Containers were not picked up as scheduled despite paying extra to guarantee a time window.

I would not recommend 1-800-PACK-RAT as a transportation company. First, the company has an incredibly cumbersome communication channel. You have to contact the corporate headquarter and have them reach out on your behalf in order to communicate anything regarding your Pod. Need to know the status of the Pod (i.e is it getting delivered today, need to reschedule a deliver or pick up date, checking on the status of the pod in general) then you need to call and hope you don't get stuck with an hour long hold time to answer a 5 minute question. They will not give you a more streamlined communication method no matter the situation. This really bit us in the butt when we hired movers and Pack Rat failed to deliver the pod on the scheduled date and failed to notify us of any change in delivery day or time, forcing me to call and be placed on hold for an hour to try and find out the status of the pod to then relay that info to the movers. Second, the company will state that they can deliver on specific dates if you agree to pay an extra $50 on the proposed day. However, in our experience this fee doesn't matter since their Tennessee branch is so incompetent in properly scheduling logistics that you might as well just hope and pray that the Pack Rat gods grant mercy on you and decide your Pod is important enough to deliver. To make matters worse, the Tennessee branch failed on multiple days to notify that they would not be able to deliver our pod or of any time changes, forcing us to contact Pack Rat via their cumbersome phone line and wait on hold for hours to find out about the status of our pod. During our final delivery of the pod, I had to call multiple times every day for 5 days straight trying to get updates on the pod since Pack Rat kept moving the time and date further down the line. Currently the pod is parked in a cramped parking lot and isn't scheduled to be picked for a week after the scheduled pickup date. Lets just hope they actually pick it up on the scheduled date, but at this point I don't trust any date Pack Rat actually claims since they have failed to uphold their end of the agreement multiple times during this move.

The traditional national moving companies are the worst. Pack-Rat containers have disrupted the moving company industry for the better. You can hire helpers to pack your items and put them in a container that will keep them safe. Or you can do it yourself. I will never recommend or use a national moving company again.

Came on time also courteous and professional. Hopefully all will be well in North Carolina. So far all good.

Most everything worked extremely well. The only problem was with a stuck door on one of the two containers. I couldn't open that container before the move so I notified PACK-RAT, and the helpers had trouble opening that container after the move (we had to call PACK-RAT again).

Awful company and awful costumer service. I called them to schedule the time of my delivery to the place I moved TO, and they told the container had never left the place of origin. The container took another two weeks to arrive while I waited in an empty new apartment. They made it sound like it was my fault, but after they reviewed the call when I placed my order, they apologized and offered some compensation, which hasn't enough considering all the damage they caused with their poor administration. They also didn't schedule the pickup of their container once I was done with taking my stuff out and I have a container sitting there in my porch for two more weeks. This whole ordeal with them has taken a month and half. I would never recommend this company to anybody.

Horrible customer service, often having to wait over an hour on the phone, and empty containers were delivered a week late causing me to sacrifice a lot of belongings. The only good thing we’re the drivers, very pleasant to deal with.

The guys who pick up/drop off the containers were great. The customer service is horrible. Every time you call there is a two (2) hour wait...or longer. Unless of course, you are a new customer.

This company made a stressful situation worse. I was told they would take a deposit 7 days before droppoff and it was not taken. They did not call or email any reminders as I got close to the date. The website was not updated with a unit number. I was afraid I was falling through the cracks. I called and was told by a machine that I would have to take a call back. I signed up for a call back and they did not call me until the next day which was the day before the movers were booked to arrive. I had to call other movers as backups as I did not know if they were showing. VERY stressful. The person that I finally spoke told me they would show up but could not give me any details of when and I was not convinced as they appeared to have a disconnect with the local company. Eventually they showed, after much stress and anxiety for me. I would like to add that the driver here in MN that dropped off the container was incredibly nice and gave me the card for his boss at the local facility. They need to update the service model and automate the phone system and set up notifications and communications with local facilities.

The service was pretty flawless and the drivers very friendly. I did have an issue when I ordered three containers and thought they would ship independently, only to learn on delivery day that it was 800 miles away and hadn't been transported (since they only move them when they are all ready if they are on one order). I wish that were clearer when we set up the transportation schedule.

Scheduling staff and drivers were super helpful and courteous. The container fit our needs perfectly because we had a lot of heavy stuff and the container was strong enough to hold it all.

Pack Rats was recommended to me by someone who used them locally. I chose them because they had good reviews and you could hire movers through the company. I DO NOT recommend them for a cross country move. Here is why: 1) They were late dropping them off. The first time by 3 days. Why do you "reserve" if there is a possibilty of them not making it even close to the date? I got no phone call about when they were supposed to deliver the late conatiner and sat on hold for ONE HOUR to find out. They were late dropping my container at my new location by 10 DAYS!!! So that left me and my family in a new city 2000 miles away living out of suitcases for over three weeks. Infuriating. When they eventually did deliver, they delivered the WRONG CONTAINER and we had to wait longer for the correct one. Ready for more? 2) you can't KNOW how heavy your container is until they weigh it when they pick it up. How are regular people supposed to know what "too heavy" will be? When I reserved the container over the phone, the rep said he had never heard of anyone's being over the weight limit. Both of mine were. I am a regular person with regular stuff. How can this be? We had to beg the driver to stay (he had other conatiners to pick up, he said and couldn't wait. He told us we would have to "re-schedule". Are you kidding me? We were leaving town the next day! ). So we had to drag stuff out onto the street until we passed the weight limit. How's that for humiliating? Having our neighbors see us frantically throw our belongings into the street so the driver would not leave. when he finally left we had to contend with five mattresses and a bunch of furniture and household items that we had to arrange to get picked up (remember we were leaving town the next day!) and then had to re-buy all of these things in the new city. Expensive? You bet! Should we have purchased a 3rd container at another $3500? Possibly. But would it have been nice to know that our (regular person stuff) would be too heavy so that we might have been able to make alternate plans? Yes indeed! At the end of the day though, I'm glad I did not give this company several thousand more dollars. Moving is SO stressful and this company added so much more stress to my life. Take my advice and look elsewhere for your long distance move. And good luck getting someone to answer the phone in less than an hour.

Bernard and his team from OC Movers was the most highly skilled and professional movers I've ever worked with. My move is taking me across country and they packed the storage Pod with precision and efficiency. I highly recommend using this company for any moving need. Oh and they got my 2 bedroom apartment packed in 3 hours!! I can't say thank you enough!!

Easy to order but everything else is incredibly inconvenient and not customer-friendly. To access the pod once it's in storage, you need to make an appointment 48 hours in advance, which is totally reasonable since they have to access it in the warehouse and bring it to a staging area. However, 50% of the time I needed to access it and made an appointment, the pod was not available. You have to call the 1-800-PackRat number and can't call the warehouse directly, but most of the time there is not anyone available to take your call. They offer a call-back service with a time estimate, however you should plan on it being actually twice, if not triple, that time for someone to get in touch with you. Delivery of the full pod to the new location was a nightmare! They called to let me know they were 25 min away. Fast foward an hour, they were not there and I received no additional calls. I called the number they called from and there was no answer. I left a message and call was not returned. I called again about 20 min later and someone answered, letting me know the driver dropped off the pod about 45 min earlier and said they had called me. Well, here's the thing: I was out front in my car, waiting for them for over an hour and there was no truck. I also did not receive a phone call. Person said he was going to call the driver and find out where it was delivered and would call me back. Never called back so I called about 20 min later and he said it was dropped a quarter of a mile away down a side street. Seriously?! I went to locate it and not only was it about a 5 min walk away, it was backed up to a car with no access to the door AND it was in a handicapped parking space. I let them know this was unacceptable and they needed to move it immediately because I did not want to be responsible for it getting towed from a handicap spot, not to mention it was totally inaccessible and nowhere near the home. TWO HOURS later a driver finally showed up to relocate it to the correct spot. The company took zero accountability for the issues (no communication, dropped at wrong location, and parked illegally) other than to claim they had still "met the expectations" of delivering it. I'm sorry, HOW does this meet any reasonable human's expectations? Highly DO NOT recommend. Entire experience from when they picked up my full container to it being put in storage to when it was finally delivered to my new home was a nightmare. Zero customer service and zero care for the situation. Luckily the driver who eventually came to relocate it was super understanding, but frustrated himself because they hadn't even communicated with him what the situation was. I know this is a rant, but seriously, friends. Reconsider using this company. Too expensive for the pure inconvenience and frustration they will cause you

Was satisfied with the actual mover. Very nice and informed me of every step needed to be successful in the move.

Good company. The only problem I had is that one of the service reps canceled my order on my 8 ft container when I asked for my service to be transferred to a 16 ft container. That cost me 36 hrs of waiting and then putting my order to be delivered a week after I was moved into my house. So, not happy about that. :-(
