1-800-PACK-RAT® Reviews
Pack Rat was good to start. However, my plans changed and I relocated to TN instead of KY. It was a net change of only ~300 miles. They made me do another long distance move and charged me almost $5000 more to get my stuff from Louisville to Memphis and then deliver. They had me over a barrel and took advantage. Would not recommend.
D0 NOT USE 1-800 PACK RAT!! Watch what you are quoted vs what you are charged the day of the move. Be sure you understand what you are being told. Read everything and question everything. I am still trying to get things resolved and had to freeze my credit card so more charges will stop coming through on my card. Was told their would be blankets for my furniture, but none were provided. At least I was not charged for blankets. (At least not yet) I wish their was another word beside '"POOR" for a rating. I have contacted the State Attorney General's Office and if this does not get resolved, I will take it as far as I have to to get the cost of what I was quoted. I have moved across the country and many, many times and in no case have I been scammed like I have for such a small move and storage. I have been calling and calling and I cannot get anyone to help me that supposedly "Looking into it"
It is actually a mix. The first container went smoothly with the exception that I was told I would only need one for a 3 bedroom home. Actually turned out I needed two. Second delivered on time but what a nightmare trying to get it picked up. I was told it would be a month before it could be picked up. After numerous calls I spoke with an agent who took my concerns seriously and was able to provide a removal date in 3 days.
LOVED using the PackRat container. Customer service during drop off and pickup was excellent and I would highly recommend use of their services to anyone. I didn't have a lot of furniture but I had a lot of boxes and storage buckets. It was a lot of stuff and the 16' barely held it all. When I move the next time I will have more furniture and will need two. Go with the advice they give you when you tell them how many rooms. I had only one twin bed, two dressers, a chest, some nightstands and two wingback chairs, but like I said A LOT of boxes. This was a cross-country move.
Yes I would use them again. Customer service was great with identifying, explaining and correcting some payment and other misunderstandings, and delay during the drop off, pick up and transportation phases. Warehouse personnel great with my access to container during the 9 months it was in storage. Delivery and pick up were a breeze. All drivers pleasant despite excessive heat.
Pack Rat is cheap and you get what you pay for. I get calls from all over the country from drivers about pods that are not mine, I am on hold for 30 min to an hour when I call Pack Rat and the representatives always seem annoyed to pick up my call. Then this last time they threw a fuel surcharge in my bill, they did not notify me of the charge even though I had called the previous day to confirm the amount owed. However, they are the cheapest, and all in all worth the price if you're trying to save money; be wary of the fuel surcharge though; that takes the cost from cheap, to moderate, and they are definitely not worth any more than cheap.
After having been stiffed by a scam moving company (although I avoided a big loss, thank Heaven!), I turned to Pack Rat (which I had used before and foolishly chose not to call them first). After hearing about my problem, the agent (R.J., I believe) fixed me right up with a container within 3 days, and the moving labor the day after that. The size was exactly what I needed (with room to spare, so I added a few more things that I originally didn't think I could pack with the scam movers). The container will be picked up tomorrow. No guesswork or delays or downright lying (which happened with the other company). Everything was like clockwork, and I am totally satisfied!
Overall, good. I was moving from one apartment complex to another. Each time, I was told they needed 2 parking spaces for the container. Each time, they needed 3. One of the apartment complexes was not happy about them taking up so many spots. I would use them again if I were moving into a house, but not an apartment complex-their equipment isn't really designed to maneuver the container in a parking lot.
They are good in delivering the container and placing it on my driveway as I expected. However it was very hard to get connected to their customer service agent. I had to leave my number a few times and it took them forever to call me back. Also they charge extra ($50) if you want the container delivered at a specific time frame. The container pickup was a breeze, no problems at all.
I will never use them again. They delivered our containers on time to be packed but when they had to deliver them for our move, I paid extra to have them delivered in the morning so I had my movers scheduled for 12pm. I first container didn’t arrive til 3pm. We had to pay our movers for showing up. B
If you are moving in the Philadelphia metro area, stay away from these guys. Our containers were stored in Cherry Hill, NJ. We had one container delivered immediately when we moved - and it was delivered a day late. Then months later when we bought a house, we had two more containers delivered - one of which was late. And not only were the containers not delivered on the requested day, even when booked over a month in advance, they completely failed to communicate that this would be happening, and didn't seem in any bit of a rush to redeliver the following day. Due to the late containers, each time I had to rebook movers at an additional cost. STAY AWAY, they don't give a **** about their customers!!!
