Good to excellent, HOWEVER - our move timing was up in the air, and when I called to have the pods delivered on November 4th, (earlier than Nov 30th) they said they could not deliver them between November 4th - November 17th! They found a way to get us our pods to move in on November 3rd, but pods are now here until Nov 17th when they can move them out. Didn't understand during the sales pitch that there would ever be a "we can't do that then" scenario so likely they need more helpers perhaps. We understand and it worked out really well - these are crazy times, and we would recommend them over and over again - very pleased.
At first very professional, plenty of communications, first container delivered as promised but then - swap out of first and second container a day late causing a reschedule of movers. The container driver was only told to deliver the empty container, he was told he was picking up a full container. After less than 24 hours I got a call they wanted to pick up the second container, a day before it was scheduled for pick up. Second container is supposed to be picked up today, we'll see what happens. Hopefully things are smoother at the other end.
The container was good. The big problem that is not clear when you reserve is the fact that they need a lot of open parking spaces on the street to drop the container. This is likely an issue in most areas where there are a lot of cars parked on the street. blocked off 2 parking spaces back to back, but when teh driver showed up, he said he needed the front or rear spot at the end of the street in order to drop the container. This was a huge issue and as a result we needed to park the container a much further distance away.
Don't use them. I set my move dates in May. The container was a day late arriving, it was picked up in Ohio on Sept 23 to be delivered on Oct 9 in Nevada. Oct 7 we received a call saying it was still in Ohio and would not arrive until Oct 14, 6 days late. We were stuck without our furniture for 6 days. They had no plans to get the container here on time. The worst, don't use.
Everything went smooth and I expected some surprise billing at the end, but there wasn't any. It was a long distance move from CO to FL. All the coordination was very easy, they stayed in great communication. The storage price did go up about $11 a month due to increased costs of COVID. Container was stored at Denver/Aurora indoor facility for 9 months. Used the recommended Hire-A-Helper svc and that was really smooth and worth it. I sold most furniture before moving, so few big items. As far as damage, a display case had a broken glass shelf, probably $25 to replace, and 2 large plastic totes had the tops cracked from too much weight stacked on it. I'm not complaining, it's so minor. Very happy with the service, believe me I was nervous from all the bad reviews for moving companies. I'm Happy, happy, happy!
Technically I used ZippyShell, but the container was PackRat and it was serviced by PackRat. They're part of the same parent company. I was mostly very satisfied, but my container ended up being 15+ days late because they couldn't find a truck to move it. That was extremely disappointing. The $200 they gave me back was appreciated, but didn't actually compensate me for the things I had to buy new because mine were on the pod.
the beginnin of the experience was awesome but went down hill from there. They shipped our pod from WI to NC 2 weeks later than we requested. We were not able to get items out of the pod that we had planned to. Ended up having to buy clothes for a funeral for this reason. Also when we scheduled delivery of the pod to our new home in NC we requested for the pod to be picked up 2 days later but they bumped it back a week. It was a major inconvenience. They did waive the extra storage fee which we appreciated but would have rather had the pod removed when we had originally scheduled it.
amazing process. pd arrived on time. the driver was amazing placed pod exactly where i needed it. the container was clean in great condition. we has severe rain and nothing was wet. customer service was outstanding people yes people actually anser the phone, they are friendly and follow through. thanks so much. i highly recommend pack-rat.
Would give a zero if i could. They bill you for extras. Paid $600 for expedited shipping then lost our container so we had to reschedule movers. Would not credit the full amount of mover cancellation fee but were "so generous" to not charge us a $50 container drop off fee. This place is totally unprofessional and we will never use them again. you wait on hold for a long period of time each time you try to find your container, because they say they will call you back and don't. Never had issues like this when we used PODs.
So far so good. It was delivered/picked up on time with no issue. The unit was clean and ready to go. The final dropoff/pick up is coming up so I can only review the first half of our transaction. I recommend at least 2 containers if you want to move your whole house. Or at least a 16 foot and 12 foot for a 2000sq ft house.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, prices were hiked $10/month from ~$165 to ~$175/month for a 16-foot container. One-star for not responding to my multiple urgent requests to expedite container pickup. My 16-foot container was sinking into the newly paved public street outside of my residence. The drivers set the container skids on a stack of 2"x4" shims. A 16" strip of asphalt was poured curbside two months prior (during the summer). The driver set the container so that one of the skids with wood shims was in the newly rolled asphalt strip. Because it was the heat of summer in southeastern PA, the container began sinking into the newly rolled asphalt that had not yet fully hardened. My wife called the next day after the container was dropped off to schedule pickup, and the first available pickup was 8 calendar days from the date of the call. The first customer service call requesting expedited pickup resulted in the rep telling me that they could not reach the warehouse facility that is responsible for scheduling. The second rep, Malikai, provided excellent customer service, but was ultimately not able to resolve my problem. I then found the warehouse address, drove to the warehouse and spoke with an employee asking to speak with the supervisor. The supervisor was "unavailable" but the employee did provide me his phone number. I urged the employee to expedite the pickup, which he assured me he would do. It never happened. My container pickup ultimately was not expedited, and now I am left with two 2" wide by 10" long by 1+" deep rectangular sinkhole depressions adjacent to the curb at my residence. To top it off, they don't even give you a pickup or delivery time frame more accurate than an "the business day." You can't even request AM or PM. Absolutely atrocious customer service. This is not the kind of first impression I want to make on my neighbors in this new neighborhood I moved into: the new neighbor who damages the newly rolled asphalt road. If the boro decides that the road needs to be repaired, I will be sure to be transferring that invoice to Pack Rat.
