Great customer service

I am a female senior citizen, and the men at PACK-RAT did everything they could to help me, even going so far as to help me repack one of my containers when it overweight. They didn't cancel the move, they just stayed to help balance out my two containers. They went above and beyond their jobs to help me. I now recommend PACK-RAT to everyone I know.

The pack rat was awesome and saved us money by using them about $1200 less than the POD company.

Overall, our experience with Packrat was excellent. There were a few problems with communication with the dispatch centers, but all the operators I spoke with at Pack rat did everything they could to help us out. They bent over backwards to get permit issues sorted and refunded for services that didn’t go as expected. I would use them again and have already recommended them to others.

The company performed as promised. Everyone was helpful and very responsive throughout the whole process. I chose Pack Rat because they did not charge extra for the multiple drop offs and pick ups of our three containers. The containers arrived on time and were collected on time. The company provided locks for each of the containers. That was a real plus for me. I appreciate the fact that I did not have to pay any storage fee although there were two weeks between the time I moved out of my old home and into my new one. A full service moving company would have charged me a daily rental fee beginning with a first-day rental of $2000+ which would have involved unloading my belongings, storing them and reloading again for delivery to my new home. I loved that once loaded into the Pack Rat containers and locked, my things would not be disturbed while out of my sight and supervision. A relative who had a protracted move with a full service provider had valuable pieces broken, I.e. a custom-made cuckoo clock and 3 irreplaceable and expensive oriental rugs lost or stolen. We DID; sustain a few instances of breakage: one inexpensive chest of drawers was severely damaged, two ornamental pieces on a metal birdbath were snapped off, one leg on a chest of drawers was damaged so that it didn't stand and one wheel of a cabinet is missing. I think these casualties were the result of the way these items were packed by the loading helpers, for example, the chest of drawers was stored on its side in the container.

The PackRatt works well, mine was pretty well used, but it got here in one piece.

RECOMMENDED After several glitches with scheduling errors and administrative errors, and fuzzy price quotes, working with 1-800PACKRAT was great. The drivers on both ends of my move were on time, polite and good at their jobs. Given the condition of my belongings when I received them, I would also say that the storage facility did a good job taking care of my things. The $3000+ price tag was hard to swallow, my negotiation skills need improvement; and because the unit was stored 32 days I had to pay an extra months rental. But I knew that cost going in. All in all I can recommend PackRat for long distance moving and storage. Just be sure to be vigilant in the scheduling and pricing process. The employees who answer the phones are more like salesmen than service providers. And different representatives give different answers to the same questions. Not enough training perhaps. Your “estimate” does not include price breakdowns for the various moving expenses incurred, and pricing as a whole should be MUCH more transparent. This is part of where the moving industry gets its bad reputation. The move itself was relatively stress-free thanks to the guys who do the actual work. Great drivers, equipment and container handlers. Shout out to Hire-A-Helper for recommending excellent movers on both ends. Anybody want to come help assemble a house full of new furniture?

x3 drivers, to date, were very considerate with calling ahead and mindful of the trees that might be bumped - wonderful!

Did as promised then some.

Company is incapable of scheduling and of communicating changes to their schedule on time. - Instead of agreed 12 days of transport, pods were delivered after 19 days - pods are neither delivered nor picked up at the agree upon time slot (don’t book a crew to unload at the day that the pod is scheduled!) - the pods were not not delivered in the order that was agreed upon - Packrat has difficulty to reach their trucking companies, so you wait on the phone just to learn that they don’t know where the pod is - Packrat puts you easily on the phone waiting line for 20-30min and never checking in whether you are still on the line. - Re-imbursement for extra cost of staying longer in a hotel are rediculously low to non-existent. In summary, a company that is not organized and basically doesn’t care. There must be better options out there!

I didn't move, just needed a pod during 1 day of home repairs

These guys went out of their way to be helpful. I recommend 1 800 PACKRAT to anyone making a container move.

Storage pod was not delivered on time due to the lone forklift being broken and could not get fixed sooner. Pod was delivered a week later and after many phone calls with service representatives, I was placed in contact with a customer service director who made things a little easier to deal with. In the process of waiting on reimbursements for expenses incurred during the week without my pod.

Pack Rat did a great job delivering the Pods and allowing us access a few times to add things on the Chicago side. We would use their services again.

They missed the delivery date due to a truck malfunction. I was called at 7:30 PM by the driver saying he would be a no show but would have the container on site by 0900 the next morning. The container was here by 0900 and the packers arrived at 10 am. All's well that ends well, but, they lost a star for my late evening panic.

Were very helpful, but unable to supply packing blankets for my move.

Third time we've used Pack Rat and are highly satisfied with responses and overall customer service.

POD deliverys were delayed so I had to go back to Movers several times. Then even though they ended up delivering early they would jnot change pick up date so POD sat in front of house for 4 days.

The 2 pods i have will arrive in michigan on september 6th. I expect the same reliable service that I received when they were delivered empty and picked up full.

The pod was clean and well maintained. I was disappointed that they could not give me any kind of delivery time (am or pm would have been helpful) I ordered pads but they were not delivered and packrat could not bring them before the moving crew arrived. The driver was friendly and efficient.

Size of container was good .pick up and delivery was good. Contents were damaged because of items not secured by Higher a Helper in NJ

Getting in contact with customer service is a long wait. I had issue with delivery time and multiple calls to make it right.

Loved the fact we could pack at our own pace. They met all their pickup and delivery commitments and made sure to do what was necessary not to damage our belongings or the area where the pods were set.

1-800-Packrat did a great job all along the process. Especially appreciated our shell transporter Mahendra in SF Bay Area. The one thing that prevents me from giving them an excellent is that they were not upfront on the choices I had on when the shells were dropped off. They introduced this in our last shell drop off when I asked why it was not there till 1 pm. They said that morning was a premium for an extra amount. This seriously effected our packing and our workmen who were there to pack. This should be explained upfront.

We are in the middle of a cross country move using Pack-Rat shipping containers. So far we are happy with their service and their polite drivers.

They have been great. Recently my last pod has been delayed due to truck issues - it was supposed to be here on Thursday- they moved it to Saturday and then to a Monday - so I have had to change my support labor around twice So I would have been done unloading on the weekend and now it will be by the end of the following week - and messing up plans They have been pleasant enough - I am just disappointed that they nicked my delivery around when it should have been the next available slot - not at their convenience days and days later- The container has been great and waterproof like they said. I would have given them five stars - if they had considered me and my needs instead their own first. The delivery guys have been great on both sides of the move

Much less expensive than PODS!

No transportation, just a storage pod on my property. The female driver was an artist! She was able to back that pod in like the pro she was. Perfect job. She was very friendly and knowledgeable about everything. Very pleased with work!

Container was sturdy but you could see a few patched areas externally. Customer service is very polite and helpful.

I initially rated as excellent on original drop off for loading. I requested to have trailers delivered before noon, and paid $50 extra for each trailer. One trailer came at 2:30 and one came at 5:00p. Fortunately the moving company was running later, so they were able to accommodate the change in times. I had asked for a refund of the $100, but I have not seen it reflected in my charge.

1800 PackRat provided good safe storage for my household goods.

Pak Rats was very good to work with. Their prices were reasonable and their service was very efficient. There was never a problem with communication and I felt confident that they would deliver what they promised.

We were pleased with the cost for our long-distance move and the logistics of drop-off and pick-up worked well. There were a few issues with the dates as they appeared on the website because we had 2 containers, but our questions were always resolved by our phone calls. One of the containers was in rough shape and was put out of service after our move, but our belongings all arrived in good condition. One complaint was the blankets that we rented from Packrat.com. They were old, smelly, and flaking - which caused additional cleanup for us. Also, there was no way to get a good estimate of the number of blankets needed. (There was a very accurate tool on their website to decide what size containers we needed.) Customer service was good whenever we called, but if the status of the move on the website had been updated more frequently, fewer calls would have been needed. All in all, the move went well and we would use them again.

Delivered the pod on time, picked it up and transported it. It did get scheduled for 2 weeks out. Which was a good thing as we filled a small pull behind trailer with immediately needed items giving us time to set up and prepare for delivery. NOTE: one 16 foot pod could not accommodate our belongings so we had to rent a 20 u-haul and hire a driver. The pod company could not deliver a second pod in our time frame. The whole moving experience was not good. That is from trying to hire a moving company to settling on a pod. Everything was miss-calculated costing us more money than it should have cost.

I have mixed feelings about 1 800 PACK RAT. Their sales department is top notch (in getting you to sign up). Our 2 containers were dropped off and picked up at our original home without a problem. Getting our things delivered to our new place was a different story. Some advice to future customers: don't wait until your items are picked up to arrange a delivery date (I called the day our second containers was picked up and the earliest delivery was over 2 weeks later; I think I could have avoided this if I arranged things sooner). Our original delivery was scheduled for a Saturday (again, 2 weeks after our second container had been picked up). I called around 2 p.m. to verify we were still on the roster because I had movers scheduled for Sunday and needed to provide 24 hour notice for cancellations. PACK RAT informed me that we were still on the roster and could have our units delivered **up until 11 p.m.**. I didn't realize how wide of a window they had. They called me back around 6 p.m. to inform me that our containers never left the origin facility and were still sitting in Virginia, 500+ miles away! It took an extra week for all of our stuff to arrive from the original scheduled date! The problem appeared to have been in finding a truck driver from Virginia to Georgia. PACK RAT did not charge us any additional storage costs, the delivery people in Georgia were fantastic, and PACK RAT ended up refunding about half of our transportation costs. While I am irritated at the delay, I do feel that PACK RAT did right by us in refunding ~half of the costs.

ON schedule and convenient

I had this container in "temperature controlled" storage for over a year. I'm a little perplexed though, as it appears that the container had dust and rain marks on the exterior. We haven't had any rain in the time I'd arranged for delivery and the container being delivered. It was convenient for what I needed and for the time frame I needed it.
