1-800-PACK-RAT® Reviews
Pack-Rat's customer service provided by C. Davidson was exceptional. She helped us solve some permitting issues as well as think through the space challenges for parking the container. And then Robert delivered it and did an excellent job getting it parked. Both went the extra mile and were so pleasant to work with. We would definitely use Pack-Rat again.
Local crew out of Chattanooga went the extra mile to get our containers to us for loading when national schedulers didn't allow time for both containers to be delivered the same day. Their crew made the difference in saving our moving experience. It would have been easier if we could have communicated directly with them prior to or morning of delivery due to distance containers had to be delivered. Customer service at national office has been thorough and pleasant to deal with. Still have containers in storage for 3 months so can't make final assessment on storage and delivery. Chose them for cost.
we were very awkward customers, trying to figure out a complicated move that ended up involving 4 containers going out of state over a period of 2 months. I had to make date changes again and again, once of them a scant 24 hours ahead of time, and was never charged a dime extra or grumbled at. I know it was a lot of extra paper work for Pack Rats, but there was never a whimper. or a fee. I was a wreck, but they were cheerful, efficient and helpful and stuck with me to the end. I love those people. PS - They were also most helpful in recommending crews to help pack and unpack. And they were wonderful too.
We used both 800-Pack-Rat and a U-Haul U-Box since the 16 foot container from 800-Pack-Rat wasn't quite big enough and they did not have a smaller option for an additional container going across country. The container was dented on one end, but structurally sound, and didn't leave me with tons of splinters like the U-Box did. Service was good, but if you need to call them, expect excessively long hold times trying to reach someone. They also should offer more affordable options for additional units for long distance moves. Knowing what I know now, I may have gone with a different vendor who offered a better value for multiple units.
I sprayed the pod with pesticide three times before it was loaded, as well as the ground around it. Each moving pad was placed in a clothes dryer for 30 minutes at high heat yet a couple of roaches were found. The Hire a Helper crew in St. Petersburg, Fl. were 2 hrs late each day and damaged our furniture in many places.
Everything was great except when I called to have it delivered they forgot to mention that I needed a permit to park on the street which resulted in a week's delay of getting my stuff. When I called to complain they listened to the conversation then payed for the permit and got it rushed through which made the delay tolerable.
Delivered and picked up the container on time, the driver was very professional and courteous. The container has not arrived at my new location yet but I will update this when it does. Update: It arrived as scheduled and there was no damage to anything inside which speaks to the way the container was loaded and handled in transport. Great job!
This was the first time I have used Pack Rat and they came to me with high recommendations. I fully agree and would use them again without reservation. Phone calls were available at any time and my questions were fully answered. The pods were clean, the locks worked flawlessly, and the drivers were polite and helpful.
Container was placed as scheduled. I will have first container moved and second one placed next week. Customer Service very helpful. I choose 1 -800- Pack - Rat after reviewing my options. So far I have been very please. ALL containers will move out of state. This will be the test on service and my final rating overall.
Everybody through the whole process was so helpful. They always got back to me in a timely manner, with the answer! 2 containers worked out perfectly. My brother used PODS when he moved and had issues with the roll up doors. I liked that you had the doors that swing open. Best part was you matched the pricing from PODS, Awesome!!
At the time of this review, we have had our 16 foot container packed and stored locally. We aren't done! It will be getting transported 1100 miles in a month and stored for another 4-5 months minimum. Our interaction so far has been with the support crew in NC and the truck driver here locally, Chris. Everything up to this point is great. Pack Rat was the more expensive option we looked at but they did work with us to get the cost down. We selected this company based on their accuracy, friendly presentation, and professionalism handling the quote and follow-up activity. They were easy to get a hold of and acted like they have done this before. I believe this company will be the "you get what you pay for" legacy... and that is why we selected these guys.
I had a very hard time working with 1-800-Pack Rat. The service was inconsistent as I reached a different staff member every time I called, which allowed for a lot of things to fall through the cracks. I found I had to call multiple times to ensure my order was processed as requested and ended up requesting to work only with supervisors in the end, as I kept having so much trouble working with other staff members. Ultimately, my belongings were delayed and delivery was rescheduled three separate times and they ended up arriving about 10 days later than requested, which made for a very uncomfortable first week in my new home. Because of the delays, I also had to rescheduled my movers (for unloading purposes) and my parking permit three times as well. I will not be using this company again.
My container had a hole which I didn't see until it was half packed and there was a leak the night before our move. The 15 hours it took between calling it in and getting resolution were the most stressful of my life and no one on the phone seemed to understand why I was upset that the local facility wasn't being helpful. In the end, they patched the hole and my move happened on time. They surprised me with $500+ in fuel charges and that was annoying. I also wish I had known more about how to pack the container because a bunch of my stuff was damaged because I didn't do it right. It would have been easier to hire a full-service mover and worth the extra expense.
