1-800-PACK-RAT® Reviews
Everthing would have been 5 star except....They literally dumped our container on it's side in the warehouse and then had to flip it back over. The container was so damaged, they hired movers to put our stuff in another unit. We are still digging through the aftermath to make a claim to their insurance. We are told that without receipts, items are depreciated out 7-10% per year for 7 years. So, for example if I can prove replacement value (of common houshold goods since they don't insure anything preciouse, antique, etc.) like my curio is $1000, I will be lucky to get $300 from them to replace it. Damaged family photos from shards of broken glass are irreplacable. I would spend weeks documenting and researching every little thing that's destroyed. This has been a nightmare and an incredible loss.
The service was good and the 16 foot container was perfect for storage of a fully furnished 1 bedroom apt. Communication during booking was great however, communication from the local company could use improvement. After waiting all day, our reserved storage container arrived a day later than requested. After communicating with the local company's supervisor, everything turned out fine because the container arrived the next day, which was a Sunday and they don't usually deliver on Sundays. The extra effort was very much appreciated because we'd already lined up the moving labor crew to arrive very early Monday morning.
Eagle One Movers were an excellent company with which to work. The movers arrived ahead of the scheduled time. They had all the needed equipment. They assisted in moving items on the property and into the storage truck. They worked very hard and completed the job, 1.5 hours before the scheduled end time. They were careful with my furnishings and, yes, I would use them again.
The driver was great, he did call 1 hr before delivery and delivery was uneventful. However I had called the day before to confirm and was told I could call the next morning to get a 4hr window, and he was supposed to relay the info to the driver that I changed the direction of the container door. He did NOT pass the info, and when I call the next morning, they were CLOSED.for the weekend!! No way to contact anyone even for emergencies!! So we will see how the rest of this goes.
Pack Rat has always worked well for us. My only hold up was that our container showed delivered to the Phoenix warehouse on a Friday afternoon, but I could not reach anyone to ask for it to be delivered sooner than our original delivery date, so it sat there all weekend instead of us being able to unload it sooner.
Awesome delivery of empty container. Jeff backed up my very steep driveway and planted the container perfectly. Pick up was timely. The only complaint I have is their website showed availability for my delivery, so I did not rush to confirm the date since I was waiting on a final closing date. When I went into the system and chose the available date I needed, it then grayed the date out and said it was not available, and repeated for the next 4 dates. Did not get my furniture until 5 days after closing:(
Did this transportation option work well for the size and distance of your move? Yes, I had to have my household good in storage for several months What was the condition of the truck, trailer, or container? It was clean and in good shape. How was their customer service during booking, pick-up, and drop off?Excellent Why did you end up choosing this company? Price and storage location Would you use them again? Yes Other general comments, concerns, or interesting tid bits!
Communications with this company were difficult. The increase in rate during storage of unit was surprising to me because it was never mentioned on the original application. Also I notified them of my move in May to arrange for arrival in July and they sent the unit a day after my call. Something else that could happen that I was not made aware of. All the boxes I had purchased were in the pod and sent to Florida empty.
lots of miscommunication-failure to call customer at correct number to alert to arrival causing a full day delay-customer service was helpful in rescheduling and offered to reverse extra $50 paid for am or pm delivery-warehouse guy was the most helpful but company is difficult to reach directly-you are on hold endlessly and then you have to wait 1-2 hours for a call back.
This is my first experience with 1800 Pack-Rats. However, I have moved with PODS 6 times. I find the Pack-Rats are a much smaller container offering much less flexibility when compared to PODS. Every customer service representative is very polite and helpful. However, they are not able to provide answers to the questions I've had. They have had to reach out to the local facility to find the answers. Unfortunately, the local facility has not responded. Some of the questions I've asked are rather simple. I had a unique entry to my driveway and needed to know if two containers could fit. Since I did not get an answer, I had to arrange for one container's delivery and return before the second container delivery. This added time and expense to the move as I had to hire movers to load the containers on two separate days. So while 1-800 Pack-Rats containers were much less expensive than PODS, the difficulty with scheduling and additional container required for the move ended up costing me more in the long run.
Delivery of the container went smoothly, and the driver, Bobby placed it exactly where I wanted it. There was some damage to the outside of the container & Bobby covered it inside with padded tape as I requested. He was very cordial. The container has not been picked up & transported at this point so I can't comment further on that part of the job.
