Oscar, the driver was great. The only issue was that he was late by about 45 minutes from our agreed upon arrival time. The reasons that this was an issue was that we were at a storage facility, and I had hired packers for a 2 hour (prepaid and prescheduled) specific timeline. This was probably my fault also, as they would have delivered the "pod" at basically, whatever time I had requested. So for all of you reading this, don't try to cut it too close. It does take time to get the truck lined up and the pod off-loaded, so (IF I) had not tried to schedule so tightly, this issue would not have happened. AND Oscar made up for it by offering, without being asked, to stay while my loaders loaded the pod (this, I am sure, is what made sure that the storage facility didn't make a fuss over the container being there and blocking basically the entire aisle, we were all in, loaded, and gone in 2 hours. This company was the ONLY ONE that would deliver on a Saturday, that would agree to a specific delivery and pick-up window for the same day, and that could and would drop off at a storage facility without the unit being in the very front for FULL ACCESS. If you are moving items out of a storage facility, I highly recommend PACK RAT. The person I spoke with on the phone, Debbie, was fantastic, she was very courteous, informative, and friendly. I have working with and speaking with TOO MANY moving companies, and moving logistical people as I am moving my entire household to Arizona, as well as sending my daughter her things to Minnesota (this part of our move), and Debbie was a pleasure to speak with, work with, determine costs and logistics for this pod. She made what I was beginning to feel was a nightmare go very smoothly. AND BELIEVE IT OR NOT - PACK RAT was the LOWEST in price! and even if I needed to store the pod for any length of time, their rental price was only $50 more per month than my storage unit at the storage facility. WOW! Debbie, Oscar, and the others from PACK RAT were FANTASTIC. Thank you all for making at least a portion of my BIG MOVE so smooth and easy. You have a customer for LIFE, and will refer you to everyone. Sincerely, Jodi Andro
Everyone was very professional and courteous. They didn't hassle me when I wanted to cancel one of the pods I ordered and they were very knowledgeable about what things I would need for my move, e.g. furniture pads, etc. I would have liked to know that the truck could not get up a steep driveway, but the driver placed the pod in such a way that it was very close to a very curved sidewalk and didn't stick out in the street. They were able to pick the pod up the next day, even though I was originally going to keep it an extra day. I would use them again.
The PACK-RAT unit we rented was huge and easy to pack. The drop off driver gave us great suggestions too. I feel at peace knowing that our belongings are in good hands with PACK-RAT storage. When they said that they would arrive to drop off or pick up, they were right there on time. I couldn't be happier.
There was a leak in the pod and I had damage to the master bedroom woman's dresser top surface. Also the mattress had water on top of it but fortunately I had put it in plastic which protected it. I notified the company immediately and they were responsive to send me a claim form right away. I will not file it until I have finished unpacking and I'm sure there is no further damage. Their customer service was quick and appropriate. The unit appeared clear but evidently had space at the very front where the leak appeared.
This is either the 3rd or 4th time that we have used Pack-Rat to move our home and it has always been and excellent experience both in the Field Staff and EVERYONE of your Staff Members we have worked with in the office. We have and will continue to recommend Pack-Rat as the ONLY WAY TO MOVE, GUARANTEED!!
I thought Pack-rat did a wonderful job and would recommend them to everyone. Their customer service was top notch during the whole process. They gave me all the information I needed to safely pack my pod and they delivered it in the time frame they said they would. Everyone I dealt with was courteous and friendly.
Staff helpful and overall deliver on what matters. The pod arrived as scheduled on time for the movers. That was yestday morning and movers left by noon or so. The pod is still in our driveway and won't be picked up for two more days. Bit small issue in the big picture. Would recommend. Was a good value for us.
No problems on either end. Just be aware that if you have a lot of things you might have to leave some behind as I did. They only hold so much and I had a garage full also. Even though I donated a ton of stuff before the container arrived I still could not fit it all. So if this is you start weeding out beforehand. PackRat gave me a better price than Pods and I would definately use them again. Customer service was great.
We moved from California to Washingon state. I have no complaints about anything. The container was exactly what they said it would be. It was clean. The pick up, delivery, and storage was fine. We haven't unpacked everything yet, but it looks like nothing was damaged. We had a somewhat complicated move and had to make some changes along the way, but they were always helpful and made sure what we needed was taken care of. I'd definitely use them again.
A very positive experience. Packrat stored my stuff for an extended time, transported it 1200 miles, and delivered it in excellent condition when I was finally ready to retrieve it. It was always easy to deal with them by phone or email. I did learn a few things to keep in mind when using Packrat: 1) Write down the serial numbers of the containers that they deliver and refer to them in your correspondence. The people you speak with in North Carolina don't necessarily know which container is which and using the serial numbers will save much confusion. 2) The process is almost as much DIY as getting a few friends and borrowing a pick-up truck to move yourself. They don't really give much guidance on how large or how many containers it's going to take to hold you stuff or how to properly pack a container. 3) Don't cut the schedule too close. Have them deliver your containers at least a day early and pick them up several days after you think you'll have them loaded. Partly because of item 2 above, you should probably allow time for an additional container to be delivered in case you find you don't fit in the ones you originally requested. But also, you often don't know when during the day the truck may arrive to drop off or pick up the container so don't plan on same-day or even next day turn around on the container. Give yourself the flexibility of a couple of days either way. I would use Packrat again, particularly for a long-distance move. I like having the transportation & storage portion of the operation separate from the packing portion. It seems to make both companies more accountable and focused on doing their best. The packers and unloaders I hired separately through Hire-A-Helper took far better care of my stuff than I've ever seen from a team associated with the moving & storage company and I think Packrat took far better care of the containers than what seems to be the case for moving trucks.
I used an 18' Pack Rat unit and ended up with more space that I could have used had I been more accurate in my estimate - my fault, not Pack Rat's. Unit was clean inside. Anthony, the rep who dropped off the unit was very nice, respectful and helpful. I chose the company because of reference from a friend. I would use them again. The only issue was a "Nasty" email from billing because they had an incorrect expiration date on my CC and I had to wait until Monday to get it corrected because billing does not work over weekend. It was resolved easily, however, and did not hold up the pick up of my possessions and delivery to storage.
