Taking the pod away was fine, but scheduling the delivery - not so great. They only deliver pods in New Hampshire on Tuesdays?!? So we close on the house on a Friday, but can’t get the pod delivered until the following Tuesday, and since we don’t know what time of day the pod will be delivered, we can’t schedule unpacking until Wednesday, 5 days after we close on the house, which means an extra 5 days at a hotel.
We are very happy with the service and ease of use. I highly recommend them. Great service. Everyone we spoke with was courteous and knowledgeable. Wendy helped us book the Pod, it was a pleasure. She gave us clear and detailed instructions, which has made the move seamless. Our drop off and pickup driver Danny on the first portion of move was phenomenal.
Second time we have used PODS. The containers are well-sized and easy to use. All of the staff including those on the phone and the truck drivers (particularly Bryan) were professional, courteous, and friendly. The reason for one less star is because the 2nd POD with our contents did not arrive until late in the day of our move (it was suppose to arrive the day before just like our other POD did). This required our move helpers to have to come back to empty our second POD. Fortunately the helpers were very accommodating. Cost was competitive considering it involved not just the transportation, but also two months of temporary storage.
Everything was good-communication was good, customer service was helpful, delivery/pickup of the POD was on time. The only downside is that you don't get a delivery/pickup "window" until the evening before. Which makes it difficult to schedule moving help ahead of time if I don't know when the POD will arrive or be picked up. I don't know why they don't have their schedule together sooner.
Was told I would receive an 8x7x8 POD. However, I received a smaller POD which was around 7ft wide, 7ft long, and 8ft high. Drop off was also an issue. My city allows for a 40 ft space on the road and the driver insisted that he needed more space. I was also responsible for directing/stoping traffic on my one way street (my driver demanded this for POD delivery) the driver also demanded that I have cars that were legally parked on my street towed and threaten that if these cars are not towed then he will not pick up my POD. Very disappointed with POD service and based upon drop off experience I am now concerned about how the pickup and delivery to my next destination will go. Terrible marketing and not up front/transparent about size of POD, capacity of POD, and effort needed from customer for POD delivery. A small POD is only good for 400 square feet at best (very small studio apartment). In addition, I was told that I did not need to be home for delivery (or pickup), but unfortunately from current experience it is evident that customer should be home for delivery/pickup especially when POD is delivered to street/curb. If company cannot handle street/curb pick up and drop off then the company should stop offering this service.
I had a mixed experience working with PODS. I didn't find it as streamlined as they made it seem. We had a big problem where they cancelled our move in the middle because I hadn't signed one document. Fair enough but they send dozens of emails asking for confirmation of different things, which I always did promptly. In the middle of the confusion of moving, I missed one document and they cancelled the move. When I called, they were unable to stay with the original date and were quite rude. The PODS system is good because it offers flexibility but I don't think I would use them again after this experience.
The cost was reasonable but they did not supply the items they indicated when the order was placed. When they delivered the POD, there were no blankets, ropes, or combination lock, and the driver had not of therse items. This was contrarry to what I was told when I placed the order. The driver did go and return with blankets but I had to make a last minute trip to have ropes and the combination lock available when the loaders arrived the next morning.
I found the PODS service quite reasonably priced although they do have some flaws in their scheduling system. When a customer requests something they should receive what they desire. I requested two 16 foot PODS to be delivered on the same day. They waited until the day prior to claim they had a scheduling error and had to split up the delivery over two days. This created undue hardship and forced us to change our move out timeline and an added expense of paying for movers one day.
