PODS® Reviews
PODS is excellent and has a great customer service however the reason I am giving 4 stars is because I have already my container loaded but they do not have anyone to move the container up until 9 days more, do not get me wrong they are trying to free some space so It can be moved sooner but yet I believe that availability is important.
This is a difficult situation to review, as the problem stems from the fact that there are two vendors involved: Hire a Helper and Pods. Pods said I would only need two pods, Hire a Helper initially thought they would get everything into just one, but at the end of the day was unable to get everything into the two Pods. Given that the house closing was the very next day, and that the only option Pods was able to offer was for me to rent a third Pod, but they couldn't get that to me in time to matter, I was left with no options. We had to give away over $800 in good furniture away. As we are moving to Florida, hiring a U-Haul to get it there would have cost more than the furniture. So, final conclusion, either don't use Pods again, or don't use Hire a Helper, as I had no inkling this would happen to me until it was too late to do anything about it. The actual loaders were good guys, the business approach turns out to have a fatal flaw.
Using PODS worked good for me and my situation. I think PODS is getting ridiculous on their rates. They claim their rates change everyday and they raised my price almost $40 from one week to the next when I had my second POD delivered. I raised some hell do they honored the rate I had paid a week earlier.
Driver was fast and efficient when delivering the 2 POD containers. He gave us advise to be careful when closing the door, don't let items jam the door frame area. He set both containers side by side. He was very friendly and courteous too. His Name is Rick Kautz. I called Pods to compliment his service i REQUESTED THAT HE DROP OFF MY CONTAINER. At this time my review is the drop off of storage containers.
Not having to rush to load and unload a moving van is well worth the price. Two negatives though: 1) the turnaround time to pickup from the final destination. We had an empty pod in our driveway for 2 weeks at our new place due to turnaround scheduling. We did move in July during busy season but still 2) We were billed for a month of storage. I expected this going in so it wasn't a surprise but it would be nice to have the pod storage fee prorated to cut down on costs.
We ordered a 16’ POD for a 2 bedroom apartment, cross-country move. Everything went very smoothly. When I called to order the POD, I was on the phone setting up the move for over an hour; but this is because the fellow who was helping me was very thorough in making sure where we could place the POD at both apartments and arranging around a time constraint on the delivery side (we could not have the POD in our garage for over 24 hours). When the POD arrived at first apartment, we had an issue with a tree branch blocking the truck’s ability to drop the container; but the driver was super accommodating and hopped up onto the container to move the branch aside. For the delivery, since we had a short window to unload the POD, the delivery driver came at 8am and then told us to give him a call when we were done unloading so he would come pick it up. We had a very pleasant experience with everyone we encountered with POD and I would definitely use this service again.
there was a lot of confusion generated by PODS, such as when they sent an email stating that they were unilaterally rescheduling the pick up of a POD in the middle of the driveway until August 2nd, when we were closing on the sale of the house on July 19th. Somehow a driver came out as originally scheduled w/o any knowledge that PODS has sent the rescheduling email. Who needs that kind of stress the evening before the close?
This was a very stressful move using PODs. The AZ pod company was not helpful. I went through Hire A Helper and got New city Movers, which did not pack the POD properly, was late but did call. I called them to come and look to see if one Pod would hold my things, and was told it would. I was told the from PODs too. It did not. AZ pods could not get me another pod for over a week, check my phone calls to pods, so we did a self load. I rented a U haul truck, my sister and brother and his wife and myself, drove to West Phoenix to do the self load. Had New City movers there to load and they did another lousy job, did not use blankets, which we provided, we could hardly get the door open on the little pod, boxes were crushed, etc. We are all in our 80's and it was 112-114 in Phoenix that day. I could go on and on but this is do for now.
I've had a great experience with PODS. Professional, communicative and responsive. My condo is undergoing extensive renovation so I had to move the contents out. Really like PODS flexibility in being able to choose when you need it dropped off and picked up. Everything went quickly and smoothly. General advice for people utilizing a POD container in multi-family housing parking lots: the container (even the big 16') fits into a standard parking space, but be aware that the parking spaces on either side of the container must be unoccupied at both drop off and pick up. If you're in a condo/apartment situation with reserved parking, make to sure make arrangements with your neighbors to move their cars on the day your POD is delivered or picked up.
Pods was great when I booked my move, however it has gone down hill from there. I couldn’t get my furniture delivered when I wanted, when I finally got my delivery date they wouldn’t tell me what time my pods would arrive until the day before, so hiring movers was very difficult. We currently can’t get the pods picked back up for two weeks because someone changed our pick up date, and we have damage to our furniture. Hopefully getting resolution to the damaged furniture will go better than the rest of this transaction.
The only concern we had was we couldn't get a location on the driver as the tail end of our arrival window was closing in. We scheduled movers 1 hour after the window so it made for bit of anxiety. The driver did arrive about 15 minutes late, which was fine but it would have been nice for Pods to be able to provide us an ETA during the 3-hour window period.
Pods company was super easy to work with. Every time I called they took their time with me on the phone and were very pleasant to work with. They helped coordinate a long distance move for me and were very knowledgeable about the whole process. They called and emailed confirmation of everything which was very helpful during a busy move. POD was delivered and picked up in the time frame given to me and the drivers were all friendly. I would definitely use this company again.
