The POD container was very clean, delivery person was great and the location of the containers was where I'd requested. However, when I set up the PODS delivery I requested two containers as I thought I'd need that much room to store my items. The movers were able to fit all my items into one POD, and when I contacted PODs to explain this I was told I will need to pay for the month of storing items in the POD I did not use. I was expecting to pay for the drop off and pick up of the container, however would not expect to pay for an empty container that will be re-used by someone else, therefore PODs will receive multiple payments for a service that only one person is actually utilizing. I was informed by the customer service person this is in the contract that I signed and there was no one else I could speak with, nor could they escalate my complaint to address this with a manager or supervisor. I did sign a contract that I was asked to sign off on the day before my PODs were delivered, after I went over everything with the salesperson on the phone, who was eager to sign me into a 3 month storage contract for a better rate, and she told me I needed to give my credit card information so they could charge me prior to delivery of my PODs. I told the person on the phone I wanted to take my account off auto pay while I work out this dispute with PODS, as they already have first months payment for two PODS, and I was told there is no other payment option. I'm now stuck in a contract with a company I don't want to work with, however as my items are already in the POD and the work was already completed I don't have another choice. I will not recommend PODs or use the company again.
They didnt follow the instructions abut delivering the POD. They did not communicate. They called the wrong disconnected number. Never used the cell number. We waited for 6 hours for the pod to b delivered. It finally came and they put it in the spot. I called to have it moved. We waited another hour and a half. They never came to move the pod.
Drivers were all excellent and booking and support, time of drop offs and pickups was on track. I love their automated calling system, backed up by real people if you needed to reach anyone "live" while the online system was a little challenging, the real people always helped. I had to use another company for the last of my 3 containers and I can tell you they didn't come close. Use PODS, was worth it!
I used 2 16 ft storage pods and I don't recommend them. First, they come still with small bugs in them (earwigs, etc) in the cracks. There is enough space for mice to get in through the door. Also, the door will get stuck if you fill the pod to edge. Please put ply wood last and make sure it goes to the top of the pod higher up than the blue door roll. The pod drivers are amazing though, but they don't necessarily put the pods just how you want them.
I had asked that the pods be delivered later in the afternoon and they were delivered mid morning. I was running errands and had to come back to assist with the second pod delivery. I also had asked the pods be picked up the next day in the afternoon. I was called later that evening on the day of delivery that the pods were going to be picked up the next morning between 7-10. I tried to tell the Pods operator of my request as the hired men loading were not going to be finished with the loading. I ended up having to reschedule for pickup two days later which interfered with the people moving in.
The PODS customer service is seriously lacking. They refused to help me figure out what size POD I would need for my 2 bedroom townhouse. When it was too small they couldn't help me get another one for another 4 days! Then when I found another truck and storage place, PODS would not help make sure the POD was taken away before the truck got there.
Though they were on time with delivery, 25% of our boxes/items got soaked during the move. Some boxes were so wet, we couldn't pick them up without the bottom falling out. Also, we had to move our pick up date from our original location because they couldn't get the rig up our driveway due to weather and they charged me an extra $238 without my consent. Though they delivered on time, I was very disappointed with their service. I'm dealing with claims now so hopefully they'll be willing to work with me to repay me for the items that we lost due to water damage.
Almost every piece of furniture had mars and scratches in spite of the fact that everything was cover in bubble wrap and topped off with moving blankets. The loads were barried with high strengh rope at the recommend tie down points but that did not seem to matter. Two of the PODS doors were jammed shut and one of them took a haf a day to get it open with a car jack and ended up breaking a leg on the corregated roll up door. Never again will I use PODS for moving!
My POD, which is the 2nd of 3 needed in 3 weeks, was delivered but not leveled as it was last week when I had one delivered. I called the office to ask if they could come back and level it. Dialo, the supervisor, told me he would only send someone to level it if I paid an additional $50.00. DOES THAT SEEM REASONABLE?
My experience with PODS was great. I moved from San Diego to Rochester, New York. The PODS Customer service explained everything along the term and were extremely helpful in working with me when it came to moving to NYS. Due to the way NYS approaches the sale of real estate and closing, my closing date shifted three times and PODS was able to shift delivery times (I can say that the opposite direction- moving to San Diego may not have been the same though).
Kudos to PODS for the excellent service with delivery and pickup at our old address and the fantastic service with delivery and pickup at our new address. The crew at our new address were able to skillfully unload both PODS on the driveway rather than have one on the driveway and one in the street. This made unloading easier. Very much appreciated. Would definitely use PODS again.
