PODS® Reviews
We would never use pods.com again; nor would we recommend them. We booked our pods for delivery on a Friday with a late afternoon/early evening pick up on Saturday. The notes on our file (verified by pods.com) stated latest pick-up possible. Our plan was to have Thunderhorse Moving (they were awesome) arrive at 11 to pack the pods by 3. We receive an email very late on the Friday night saying that they were going to pick up the pods between 11 and 2. We called the customer service number as soon as we received the email, and they were unable to help us. They said to call again in the morning at 7:00 a.m., which we did. Again, no one was able to help us. All they kept saying was that the pick up time is not guaranteed. We tried talking to customer service and corporate customer service, doing whatever we could to work up the line of management. Customer service just sticks to a script without answering your questions directly. There is no phone number to contact the local office. Customer service has a cell number for the local manager, but obviously they can't share that. They told us they tried calling that number, but no one answered. You can find the local office address online, but there's a good chance no one will be there. It was an incredibly frustrating experience. I think that because we kept pushing (asked for the company president's name, asked for every customer service agent's name, and asked for the local manager's name), they actually came much later to pick up our pods. However, they never let us know that they had rescheduled us for later, so we had an incredible amount of pressure to get the pods packed as quickly as possible when we could have actually taken more time. All I can say is that we will be following up with emails and the Better Business Bureau. Very frustrating, disappointing, and terrible service.
You pay for the convenience, dropping off the POD fit in a parking space in front of where I lived, super easy. It was easy for me to load everything up and lock it, reminiscent of "set it and forget it". Then it was easy for me to schedule when I wanted it delivered and it was delivered without issue, again, easy. This is a great service, though more expensive than hiring movers and driving yourself of course.
The customer service reps, delivery and pick up service providers were wonderful. The repair technician that hadto come and peel off the top of the POD was great. The delivery from state to state was held up by 3 days due to equipment failure at the storage facility in Colorado, and the door of the unit was broken and unable to open upon delivery in Missouri. The employees were great.....the equipment....not so great.
We moved from Michigan to California, all cross country moves are difficult! The shipping time for PODS was approximately 11 days. Unfortunately, there was water damage to some of our goods because rain water got inside a small portion of the container. So that was a downer! We downsized A LOT (50%) before the move, therefore it would be hard for me to believe that a 3-bedroom home (with a garage & basement) would fit into one 16' POD.
Robert dropped off the POD, knew exactly how to back it into place, was careful to avoid the sprinkler heads. Wonderful job. We were not here when Sean removed it, but he also called to advise of arrival time, and it appears he did an excellent job removing it. We used PODS because we needed storage as well as moving. The POD holds more than you would think, if packed professionally and took 99% of our household items. We would use PODS again. The POD was clean inside and out. The door came off the track once, was tightly sprung, and difficult to close. customer service staff were professional, friendly and answered all our questions. They were in touch at all the right times.
PODS worked great for me. I was able to schedule my move around my schedule. They guys who place the container are very skilled at what they do. My only complaint was that I was assigned a drop-off time of between 6:30 am and 9:30 am. Seriously, who does business at 6:30 am? I'm pretty sure my new neighbors must hate me because of the noise PodZilla made when my POD arrived at 6:40 am. But the POD was clean, my contents were in good shape when it arrived at my destination.
i was really disappointed in the scheduling aspect of PODS. Because of availability, I had to take possession of the POD more than 10 days before I wanted it. Then there was a week delay from the time I called to have the full POD picked up until it actually was picked up. Then from that point I had to wait 13 days to receive my POD. I only moved 250 miles away! Other than the scheduling issues, I loved working with PODS.
Pods was the perfect choice for my situation. I had a local storage unit that was filled. Loading over 20 years of memories into a large pod, then relocating it to my current home the same day. After sorting for weeks, I added furniture and appliances for a final move to my new home. All this took 2 months to accomplish, but was well worth it in the end. Thanks pods
Always called me the night before delivery or removal of the PODS container; posted on my online account where the container was at all times. Showed up on time, were careful not to run over my grass. All of my belongings were safe and dry when finally unloaded after the PODS was almost 3 months in a locked storage facility. Billed me exactly as they said they would. I chose PODS because I needed to store my belongings and live in a short term, furnished rental while I looked for a new house. I didn't want to move and unpack my belongings twice in a short period of a few months. It worked out very well.
We went with PODS for our move from San Francisco to San Diego. A leading "turn-key" mover quoted us $14,800 to pack, store (30 days) and un-pack the house. That sounded crazy so we opted to POD-it. The three 16 foot PODS we rented came to $6200 door-to-door, however the mover-labor in San Francisco was expensive at $3K to pack. Unloading in San Diego was well under $1K, so in all it was $10K for PODS vs. nearly $15K for a leading mover. It was still a lot of work and navigating your PODS pick up and delivery when using 3 containers is complex. You just need to be sure the POD you order will fit where you need it, as some cities (San Diego) don't allow them on the street and the POD crane they use to place your POD won't fit under a carport. PODS personnel were very professional and helpful on both ends of the move. Again, you just need to be sure your POD will fit where you need it, legally. Most complaints are from people who failed to find this out until it was time for delivery.
