PODS® Reviews
Only use PODS if you really can't find the money for a professional mover or you don't care about your items, or if you are not going long distance. They aren't much cheaper than hiring a moving company. They "nickel and dime" you to death on the charges. In my situation, the POD was poked with some kind of metal; putting a 6 inch hole in the POD and my items "shifted", which is not covered under the expensive insurance I purchased. The POD is basically a plastic shell with some 2 X 4s as a frame. NOT sturdy for a long distance move. My items were damaged and the insurance doesn't cover "shifting", so I wasted $250 per month for insurance. I would never use a POD again.
I was happy with everything except their online system. It was nearly impossible to adjust my delivery times online and I always had to call to change it. Also, beware billing loopholes. I stored my POD in the warehouse for a month and then on my property for another 3 weeks. I was charged for 2 months of warehouse storage - which is far more expensive that what I actually intended. They said they wouldn't re-rate my rental, but if I'd moved it from the property storage to the warehouse, then they would have re-rated... sneaky if you ask me.
What a great way to move. The delivery and pick up of the POD were so easy, and they have terrrific customer service. I used the online tools, but when that wasn't convenient, I called them. There was never a long hold period and the reps where very helpful and knowledgable. This method was perfect for our cross-county move, The condition of the container was great. We chose this method of moving because it best suited our needs in terms of time needed to load and unload. I would definitely recommend them and would use them again and recommend them to others.
PODS customer service was excellent. They quickly and professionally answered every question and handled every change. The containers were clean, and the driver was extremely nice. My only issue is that I greatly underestimated size and quantity of the PODS I would need for my move. There has to be better way to estimate how much stuff a person has to move for example how many books, how much artwork and wall decor, how much clothing, etc. Nonetheless, my overall experience was positive and I would use PODS again.
PODs was perfect for my moving and storage needs. I was moving locally, but had to store my things for about 2 weeks. They kept in touch with me throughout the whole process. The PODs were clean and in good condition. Customer service was responsive, efficient, and helpful throughout the process. I would definitely use PODs again and would recommend them to anyone.
We had a problem with being able to pick up my container once I had loaded it and left the city. Cars continued to park around it and block access to it. PODS worked with me on this until they were successfully able to pick up the container. They went the extra mile. I would use them again for sure. It was a much better alternative to my move than moving companies who wanted weeks to deliver my furniture after they picked it up, or using U Haul which would have cost more and forced me to navigate the downtown area of a big city in a large truck with my car in tow.
Long distance PODS move -- service in FL at the beginning of my move did a great job -- delivered on time, easy to schedule, careful set up of container in driveway (carefully avoiding sprinklers in yard, etc.). On the other end, it was next to impossible to schedule a delivery date. I was told that the Savannah facility only has 2-3 drivers, so if you are using this (or another smaller market location) make sure you plan FAR in advance. In fact, the (empty) POD is still in my driveway because they were unable to schedule a date to pick up the empty POD until 11 days AFTER it was dropped off at my house -- and I scheduled the pick-up date a week before it was even dropped off. VERY disappointed and I get to be reminded of how disappointed I am every time I go out my front door and there is an empty POD just waiting in my driveway for them to come and pick it back up. I will NEVER use PODS service again unless I am moving to and from a large market where they can PROMISE me better and more timely service.
We stored our furniture in a Pod for 10 months. They were very convenient, on time, and very easy to schedule, even on short notice. We did see that there had been a small leak in the pod as the cloths that had wrapped a couple of our headboards showed evidence of leakage stains on the cloth, but the furniture was not damaged. All of our furniture was exactly as we had secured it ten months ago, nothing shifted or broken. We would use them again.
Many of our items were damaged upon arrival- vases that were extremely well packed arrived broken, furniture was banged up and legs were broken off of dressers. The pod goes through so much shaking during the loading and unloading process that the boxes were shifted and pinned the door shut. We could not access it for several hours until a professional came to open the pod. We also had difficulties receiving our pod in a timely manner- we were told it would arrive in 4 days and it arrived 8 days later. Very disappointed, would not use again and would not recommend.
They were not able to place the POD in the driveway so it was placed in the street. Rather than pick it up the day after loading as scheduled they picked it up the same day. They did so to prevent the city from citing us for the container being in the street. They container was in perfect condition and the driver did a great job. I would definitely recommend them will use them again if the need arises.
