PODS® Reviews
Very good at keeping you informed about delivery for loading and unloading. Company employees were patient and professional. Used 16 foot unit. Had it transported from FL to CA. Compared to $10,000 moving van or truck, pod container was very reasonable. Pod 16’ container had more than enough room for furniture and boxes that fit into 430 square foot apartment. Approximate cost of move was $5,100 that included container and transportation, movers to load and unload and my gas, food, and lodging for six days of traveling by car across US.
Logistics: PODS was on time with delivery and pickup. Communication: The website service was terrible once I was a customer. The login link repeatedly failed to connect to my account, definitely a software glitch. I had to call directly each time to continue our business. Cost: Rental and storage were reasonable. Freight transport was unreasonably exorbitant. This was frustrating and still remains unresolved. I booked the 1st POD in April and received a decent freight quote. I added a 2nd POD in July and the freight quoted was $2000 more than the the 1st POD, with no explanation or negotiation. No agent had the ability to make adjustment, with no supervisor or back office management to appeal to. BOTH PODS were picked up at the same time, from the same place, and delivered to the same location. How can there be a difference of over $2000 in freight? Service agents insisted I must pay first and ask for an adjustment later, after the fact. This makes no sense to me. I have disputed the freight and requested an adjustment. I have not received any communication back from PODS accounting management.
POD was not delivered within the 2 hour window. I was not updated on what the problem was. I had to make several phone calls. POD was on a truck that got "stuck" and was waiting for a tow truck, but I was not apprised of the situation. It was frustrating. Otherwise I was pleased with the pick up and storage part, just not delivery.
My loading was in the afternoon, so I imagined the loaders would be tired out from an earlier move. Not the case. Two guys (sadly, I didn't get their names) from Lewis Moving Company came in and loaded a 16-foot pod, plus moved a bunch of heavy furniture into the garage in way under 3 hours. How they managed to fit everything into the pod I don't know, but they did. Of course, I won't know how secure everything is until I unload after a long-distance move, but from this point, 5 stars!
