PODS® Reviews
This was a horrible experience, the date that I was set for got moved not once, but twice the first being because of a "computer glitch" which sent my container to the wrong location. Then delayed in transportation, now a week later after causing me to be billed for a cancellation fee for the movers there has been no communication regarding any aspect of trying to make this right.
We rented and filled two POD containers, they transported both across the country and stored them in a facility close to where we were moving until our home was completed. They delivered the containers safely and placed them exactly where we wanted them. The drivers in both states were excellent and really know they job!
It was my first time using PODS container for a long distance move. From beginning to end the experience was excellent. The reps on the phone were very helpful, every time I called, and their quote didn't change after the job was done. When it came the time of delivery and pick up, in both locations, the drivers called ahead (this is an excellent practice when you leave in an apartment complex, so you can be there when driver arrive to let them know where to put the container). There was no waste of time, and both drivers knew what they were doing, super nice, and patient. Moving is a stressful time but they made me feel at ease. I couldn't be happier! I recommend this company.
Went over the top to accommodate us in getting our container picked up so we did not have another month to pay for rental. Stuck to posted drop off/pick up times. Stored our container securely while we waited 3+ weeks to move in. Our items arrived safe after their 600 mile journey. Would highly recommend them for any move.
Chaos start to finish. They have an oddly distributed system that might work on paper, but reality was a different story. Scheduling errors - including wrong locations happened more than once. I had a complicated move across three states and back two after two months. On the second leg, their billing software cached eleven emails to me saying payment wouldn't go through (gas prices took it up about $1000) from the first leg of trip. My calling to double check on where it was supposed to be was the only thing that saved me from complete catastrophe. I was able to solve it with a different form of payment in moments, but days had gone by in the meantime. The "home" page I'm supposed to be able to work from didn't indicate a problem - it was sheer luck that I inquired. That issue was resolved by one incredible PODs person. The ONLY person who seemed to understand the whole system and who gave a damn. After that, the days and times they said they would deliver were not honored, causing me to have to reschedule my movers twice. And then they dropped it in the wrong spot, a full 8 hours earlier than expected. A spot that required a permit. I would NEVER use this service again and caution anyone to think twice about it - especially if you are making a long distance move.
PODS has been great to work with for our out of state move. We have had to adjust our schedule several times and everything has been handled smoothly and all our questions answered. I have used the online tool to make changes as well as spoken to a representative and used online chat. Both channels worked well. Be sure to compare costs of the 8” and 16” container for long distance moves. Drivers have been polite and professional maneuvering the large containers in our driveway without a lot of extra room.
First pod had a ‘patch’ on the side that let rain in. Trying to get a replacement took 3 phone calls and 5 hours. That driver literally tore up the landscaping and slate walkway going off the driveway - if I hadn’t runout and stopped him he would have kept going….the spot was in front of a two car garage and he couldn’t keep it on the pavement???? I’ll end up owing money at closing because of the damage he did.
My new home wasn't ready. Ordered 2 Pods, and had Patriot One Movers provide the labor to load up the Pods from my old home. Pods were then delivered to my new home when it was move-in ready. Didn't take the frig, washer/dryer, or dining room set. If I had, I would have needed three 16' Pods instead of two.
PODS was a disaster. Communication was poor and that delayed the initial drop off after finally speaking to a supervisor, the drop off got reinstated, however, the pick up order was wiped out. Then, I had to get them to bring the pod to the final destination. That got cancelled again. This just continued throughout the move. Juanita was as helpful as she could be but apparently anyone can go in to a customer's account and delete pick up and drop off schedulings. Most of the people I dealt with were not very good at this and many of them were rude/unpleasant. When the final pickup FINALLY got done, the driver got out of his truck and yelled at me across the driveway that I had to clean out the pod. I informed him that no one had told me about this and he yelled "It's in the contract!" Poor customer service again. I would never use pods again no matter how badly I needed a service like this.
There were many logistical problems with PODs. The delivery dates were delayed multiple times and we received late notice when the pod was not being delivered. The online information was not updated and getting information via phone took usually 30 min of hold time. However, all the employees we dealt with on the phone or in person were very nice and helpful.
Terrible service. The online scheduling does not work and once you book your pod and pay for it, no one will answer your calls or call you back. You should be able to get online and schedule the time window for pick up and drop off but you go through all of the steps just for it to say that the online site is down. My pod was supposed to be picked up the same day as delivery at my new address and it was picked up 3 days later. I was also told by the movers hired from pods referral and a PODS staff member that if I left my boxes on my pod that they would be taken care of. Instead, my boxes were thrown in the parking lot and left and I had no clue until my new apartment complex called me to let me know.
