PODS® Reviews
Chaos start to finish. They have an oddly distributed system that might work on paper, but reality was a different story. Scheduling errors - including wrong locations happened more than once. I had a complicated move across three states and back two after two months. On the second leg, their billing software cached eleven emails to me saying payment wouldn't go through (gas prices took it up about $1000) from the first leg of trip. My calling to double check on where it was supposed to be was the only thing that saved me from complete catastrophe. I was able to solve it with a different form of payment in moments, but days had gone by in the meantime. The "home" page I'm supposed to be able to work from didn't indicate a problem - it was sheer luck that I inquired. That issue was resolved by one incredible PODs person. The ONLY person who seemed to understand the whole system and who gave a damn. After that, the days and times they said they would deliver were not honored, causing me to have to reschedule my movers twice. And then they dropped it in the wrong spot, a full 8 hours earlier than expected. A spot that required a permit. I would NEVER use this service again and caution anyone to think twice about it - especially if you are making a long distance move.
PODS has been great to work with for our out of state move. We have had to adjust our schedule several times and everything has been handled smoothly and all our questions answered. I have used the online tool to make changes as well as spoken to a representative and used online chat. Both channels worked well. Be sure to compare costs of the 8” and 16” container for long distance moves. Drivers have been polite and professional maneuvering the large containers in our driveway without a lot of extra room.
First pod had a ‘patch’ on the side that let rain in. Trying to get a replacement took 3 phone calls and 5 hours. That driver literally tore up the landscaping and slate walkway going off the driveway - if I hadn’t runout and stopped him he would have kept going….the spot was in front of a two car garage and he couldn’t keep it on the pavement???? I’ll end up owing money at closing because of the damage he did.
My new home wasn't ready. Ordered 2 Pods, and had Patriot One Movers provide the labor to load up the Pods from my old home. Pods were then delivered to my new home when it was move-in ready. Didn't take the frig, washer/dryer, or dining room set. If I had, I would have needed three 16' Pods instead of two.
PODS was a disaster. Communication was poor and that delayed the initial drop off after finally speaking to a supervisor, the drop off got reinstated, however, the pick up order was wiped out. Then, I had to get them to bring the pod to the final destination. That got cancelled again. This just continued throughout the move. Juanita was as helpful as she could be but apparently anyone can go in to a customer's account and delete pick up and drop off schedulings. Most of the people I dealt with were not very good at this and many of them were rude/unpleasant. When the final pickup FINALLY got done, the driver got out of his truck and yelled at me across the driveway that I had to clean out the pod. I informed him that no one had told me about this and he yelled "It's in the contract!" Poor customer service again. I would never use pods again no matter how badly I needed a service like this.
There were many logistical problems with PODs. The delivery dates were delayed multiple times and we received late notice when the pod was not being delivered. The online information was not updated and getting information via phone took usually 30 min of hold time. However, all the employees we dealt with on the phone or in person were very nice and helpful.
Terrible service. The online scheduling does not work and once you book your pod and pay for it, no one will answer your calls or call you back. You should be able to get online and schedule the time window for pick up and drop off but you go through all of the steps just for it to say that the online site is down. My pod was supposed to be picked up the same day as delivery at my new address and it was picked up 3 days later. I was also told by the movers hired from pods referral and a PODS staff member that if I left my boxes on my pod that they would be taken care of. Instead, my boxes were thrown in the parking lot and left and I had no clue until my new apartment complex called me to let me know.
We used PODS moving from Reno, NV to Mebane, NC and they were all on time, very professional and communicative of when they would arrive and the exact charges for pickup, storage, and drop off. Everything arrived intact and unbroken. We had used them 2.5 years before for a 200 mile move and were very satisfied.
...with a couple of reservations. First delivery driver was on time, communicated well, made sure the POD was level, and was amazingly proficient, but the delivery driver at the other hand didn't seem to know how to use the Podzilla properly, leaving the POD unlevel, having difficulty lowering it, and other problems. The company is excellent at communicating, providing a customer portal that works well, and answering questions. You can't always get the size you want; it depends on what is available in your region. PODs also has good links to box purchases and moving helpers.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! PODS is the worst bunch of incompetent criminals I can imagine. Note this is referring to the corporate organization, not the local centers and drivers, who were great. But corporate is a disaster. Web site doesn't work, they canceled our entire move (without notifying us) because we didn't check a box on the web site, *which was broken for weeks*. Multiple times, we called to confirm deliveries only to have them screw up after assuring me they wouldn't, costing me deposits for movers. They also double-charged my account an extra $14K after rescheduling my move. They have massive IT and billing issues that they admit on the login page (the same message has been there for months, so they obviously haven't fixed anything).
PODS has great customer service. I needed to call to reschedule and change some details. It is easy to get a live person, and they are friendly and helpful. Their transport system needs some improvements... they need a large space to maneuver and the POD definitely tips every which way when they put it on and off the truck.
The POD was delivered to my home and picked up on the 16th for transport to my moving destination. It was expected to arrive there on the 26th. I received the delivery window for the 26th but the POD did not show up. We contacted them twice and were told there was a delay. First it would be in 45minutes then within the hour. That pushed the delivery time to 6pm. The POD still did not show. No one from the company contacted us to say what the problem was. We called once more and was told the warehouse was closed and they could not provide information but someone would contact us the next day, Sunday. No one did. We called again on Monday the operator was helpful said she raised an issue on our behalf and arranged for the POD to be delivered on Tuesday. We received the POD on Tuesday, 3 days late. In all that time we did not receive even 1 call from a POD representative to say what was wrong. We hired helpers to assist with the unloading and had to reschedule with them several times. Thank goodness that company, Ox and Bull, was flexible and worked with us.
Chris Monaldi was my first contact with the PODS company… He was very professional and answered all my questions.. He gave me lots of information which helped me make an informed decision. Dominic was the gentleman who brought the PODS container… He was very accommodating to my needs… When I wanted the container placed a certain way he, without any hesitation, turned it around and placed it exactly where I wanted it.
