Pods was awful. They called and confirmed that they were going to move my container the night before during the confirmation window and then called back the next morning and left a voicemail saying it would be more than a week later before they would be able to get it due to a driver being out. I had medicines a freezer full of food, and other valuables in the pod because it was only supposed to be sitting on the site overnight. I tried to argue the case with them and while there customer service staff were all extremely polite the hold times to get someone were outrageous and the end result was that they told me nothing could be done short of moving it to six days out instead of eight.
Possibly the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Was put on hold for 15 minutes while a representative "reviewed my account". I could have explained my entire life story in that 15 minutes, let alone tell her I had 2 pods, one of which was broken. When the agent finally came back on the phone, I could hear the TV blasting in the background as she struggled to call me by my name. PODs online container size dimensions are also WAY off. We rented 2 pods (one 16ft and one 7ft) because the sizing online matched to what we have used before with trucks. Oh were we sorely mistaken. We had to actually rent a uhaul to hitch to my truck just to make up for the lack of space. Not only was the sizing WAY off, but the larger of the containers was broken upon delivery and would not latch shut - hence my calls to customer service. I was told it could not be picked up if it did not lock, which obviously caused a dilemma. Instead of leaving the day our Pods were packed, I had to stay 2 extra nights (in a hotel) to ensure someone could come out and get the latch shut so the pods would be picked up. The driver was the only helpful person in the entire situation. So not only did I have to get more space via a uhaul, I also had to spend a couple nights in a hotel to wait for someone to address the broken pods. This quite possibly is in the running for worst part of 2020..
My one gripe with PODS is they can NEVER get a hold of the dispatcher to tell you where your container is. TWICE I've had late containers and NEVER got a call to tell me they were going to be late. And when you call customer service they less then capable in helping you find out when/where your container is.
This worked well every step of the way. The reservation and customer support were excellent and everything happened just like clockwork, even with some timing changes I requested. My wife and I were very impressed with PODS as an organization and the loading/unloading companies they referred us to at each end.
They arrive for pickup and dropoff when they say they will, and their drivers are able to skillfully maneuver their trucks and... whatever those machines are called that physically lift and set down the container. I don't recall the price I paid off the top of my head, but I remember it was a bit less than their competitors.
The Pods worked out well. Initially only ordered one based off the room recommendation, but ended up ordering a second one. I was impressed how easily they were able to make the arrangements and deliver the second pod in such a short notice. We did have a little complication on the delivery of the second pod and removal of the first one, but once I contacted them they quickly remedied the situation. Both containers were clean and in great condition. Dealing with customer service was easy and they worked with me to meet all my needs. We went with Pods to reduce costs and professional movers were so much more expensive. Using hired helpers associated with pods made the move economical and easy for us. I would definately use them again.
PODS service was always very friendly, and the quality of the POD itself was great. However, the timing and mechanism for deliveries left a lot to be desired. We ended up needing to hire movers to pick up our stuff from the PODS facility, because we were not notified by PODS in the initial order that our delivery location did not allow for the POD to be on the street. (LA as a whole.) Really disappointed in that regard.
