Pick up was an absolute nightmare that took nearly two hours. Uhual rerouted us to a different pick up location than we had originally selected and when we arrived they guy there said the trailer was down and we'd have to go to another place to pick up (down the road a couple miles). When we arrived there they didn't have the equipment because the system said the previous location was supposed to have it. Thankfully the two ladies at the second location got on the phone with their area manager and were able to get things sorted out. They went with us back to the first location to pick up the equipment and brought it back to their location to make sure it was road ready and not broken. Apparently the first location has a reputation for being unreliable and is close to being closed down. My suggestion to Usual, close that guy down because this experience was so painful and pushed us so tight on being back for the movers that we will likely consider Penske next time.
Great people, truck did the job, there app is total shit. Also was not happy that I had to wait till I was locked in, to find out where I was picking up their truck. I had to drive 20 min. to pick up their truck even though their closest office was 4 min. away and there are 3 offices closer than the one they chose for me to pick up the truck. Also they did not have my complete order so I still had to drive back to the office that is 4 min. away.
All of the truck rental companies were complicated and not helpful. Penske confirmed a truck that was not actually available and the corporate U-Haul booking was complicated and wanted my credit card just to be able to speak to someone about possibly booking a rental. I will look into private movers in the future and try not to rent from either of these companies again. That said the local personnel at the U-Haul that I rented from were very nice and helpful. Thanks to them for slightly redeeming the company....however I will still refrain from using U-Haul in the future,.
When I went to get the truck, someone had stolen the gas cap and they knew it the day before they made the reservation. "Oh, one thing I forgot to mention" So they stuffed a Walmart bag in the hole an taped it up. I asked the guy, How am I supposed to fill up the tank? He said, "Got any Tape?" I had to drive all the way across town to get another truck. 3 hours wasted.
I rented a truck from 56th and Good Hope. Do not go there if you're in a hurry. There was only one person working in the store when I purchased a TV box at 7:30 am and when I picked up the truck at 9:00 am the next day. The attendant explained to me that he was outside. I could not believe that no one in the store to assist customers. Because of this, after purchasing my tv box, I had to leave it in the store because I couldn't fit it in my vehicle. He sold me the box and when back outside I suppose. They are short staffed I suppose. Also, the day I came to pick up the truck, again the store was vacant. Once he came back in the store, he moved at the pace of a snail. I won't ever go back to that location. There was more, but I'll stop here. I don't want to write a thesis.
